Statsborgerprøven øve: Last-Week Revision Plan + 10 New Questions

Checked 13 October 2026. Test rules are from HK-dir’s candidate pages read on 13 October 2026. The lesson list is the bokmål version of samfunnskunnskap.no as saved on 12 October 2026; the count of 13 topics and 57 lessons, the split over days and every minutes figure are ours. The 10 questions are ours, written from the lesson text; they are not official questions and cannot predict a result.

If you typed statsborgerprøven øve into a search box, the test is probably close. This page is for the last seven days. It does not explain the test from the beginning: the format, the pass mark and the pass rate are in statsborgerprøven pass mark, pass rate and why people fail, and the full list of topics with a lesson tracker is in statsborgerprøven pensum: every topic from the official lessons. What you get here is an order of work for one week, built on the official curriculum, and ten new practice questions in Norwegian with an English translation, the reason for each answer and the sentence of the lesson it rests on.

Statsborgerprøven øve: what you are revising for

Four facts set the shape of the week. Each is HK-dir’s; the links in the paragraph above carry the detail.

FactWhat HK-dir saysWhat it means for the last week (ours)
The tasks36 multiple-choice tasks with three options each. 32 count; 4 are trial tasks that do not. You pass with at least 24 correct. You can miss 8 of the 32 counting tasks. The pages we read do not say which 4 do not count, so answer all 36.
The timeAt most 60 minutes. That is 100 seconds a task. Time is rarely the problem; reading the Norwegian exactly is.
The languageNorwegian only, bokmål or nynorsk, at level A2, with an audio file in both.Read at least part of the curriculum in Norwegian this week, even if you learnt it in another language.
The curriculumThe texts of samfunnskunnskap.no. The page for test centres says the answers to the tasks are to be found there.Nothing outside the lessons needs revising. News, current ministers and anything not in a lesson can be left.

HK-dir also offers an example test, and is careful about what it is: “Eksempelprøven er ikke den samme prøven som du vil få når du tar statsborgerprøven. Den er likevel en god trening i hvordan oppgavene ser ut, og hvordan du svarer på dem på datamaskinen” [official]. Keep it for day 6. Done on day 1 it tells you little, because you have not revised yet; done on day 6 it shows which lessons to reread on the last evening.

The seven-day plan

The curriculum has 13 topics. In the bokmål version saved on 12 October 2026 they hold 57 lessons (our count of the lesson list; we found no total printed on HK-dir’s pages). The plan puts them into five reading days of 8 to 14 lessons, pairing a long topic with a shorter one, and puts the topics with the most dates and institutions first, while there is time to forget and relearn them. We found no weighting of topics on HK-dir’s pages, so the plan gives no topic more importance than another: it covers all of them once.

DayTopics (lessons in each)In EnglishLessons

Statsborgerprøven: your last seven days, dated

The split of the 57 lessons over five days is ours, as is the minutes-per-lesson figure. We found no study plan and no weighting of topics on HK-dir’s pages.

How to read one lesson so that it stays

Twenty minutes or less a lesson

  • Read the lesson once in the language you read fastest. samfunnskunnskap.no has the same lessons in English and other languages.
  • Open the same lesson in bokmål and read only the headings, the bold words and every sentence with a number or a year in it. Those are the sentences a three-option task is easiest to write from.
  • Close the page and say three facts from the lesson aloud in Norwegian. If you cannot, read the Norwegian again.
  • Write the Norwegian key words on one line: one line a lesson, 57 lines for the week. That page is what you read on day 7.

The method is ours. It rests on one official fact: the test is in Norwegian at A2, and HK-dir’s page for test centres says the answers to the tasks are to be found on samfunnskunnskap.no, so the bokmål or nynorsk lessons are the place to learn the words.

Day by day

DayWhat to be able to do by the evening (ours)Where it comes from
1Put the main periods and years of Norwegian history in order, and say what a newcomer’s introduction programme is. The years 1814 and 1905 are easy to mix up: say both aloud.Topics Ny i Norge and Historie
2Say who makes laws, who proposes them and who judges; name the public holidays that are days off; say what the lesson says about the Sami and the national minorities.Topics Dette er Norge and Menneskerettigheter og demokrati
3Explain fastlege, egenandel, frikort and taushetsplikt in a sentence each, and say what barnevernet is for.Topics Helse and Familieliv
4Say when children start school and how long grunnskolen is; explain what a trade union does, what a written employment contract is and what Nav is responsible for.Topics Skole og utdanning and Arbeidsliv
5Five short topics: money and housing, dugnad, allemannsretten and waste sorting, forced marriage and female genital mutilation (both forbidden), source criticism.Topics Personlig økonomi, Fritid, Bærekraft, Retten til et fritt og selvstendig liv, Kritisk tenkning og digital dømmekraft
6Sit HK-dir’s example test once with a clock, then the ten questions below. Reread only the lessons behind the questions you missed.HK-dir, Øv til prøven; this page
7Read your 57 lines once. Lay out your ID and the call-up message. Stop early.HK-dir, Dette skjer på prøvedagen

If you have fewer than seven days, do not compress every day equally. Open the lesson tracker in the topic list guide, tick what you already know, and spend the days you have on the topics you have not opened, in the order above. If you have more than seven days, keep the plan for the final week and use the time before it for a first slow reading.

Ten new practice questions (three options, Norwegian with English)

These ten are new. They do not repeat the 10 questions in the pass-mark guide, the 15 in Norwegian citizenship test in English: 15 practice questions, the practice quiz on the exam page or the self-test in the revision kit, so together they give you 35 different questions on these pages before you reach the quiz. Each has three options, as in the real test. Each key rests on a sentence of a lesson, and the lesson is named beside the answer so that you can check us.

Statsborgerprøven: 10 new practice questions

Answer in Norwegian; the English line under each question is a translation for checking your understanding, and it is not in the real test. Choose one option for each question and press the button.

Answers, reasons and lessons

#Question (Norwegian)In EnglishCorrect answerWhy, and the lesson it comes from
1Når ble det første gang funnet olje i Nordsjøen?When was oil first found in the North Sea?C. I 1967 (In 1967)The lesson says oil was first found in the North Sea in 1967, and that Norway developed into an oil nation from then on. 1905 is the end of the union with Sweden and 1945 the end of the occupation. Lesson: Det moderne Norge.
2Hva betyr det at et samfunn er sekulært?What does it mean that a society is secular?A. At det ikke er preget av religion (That it is not shaped by religion)The lesson defines a secular society as one that is not shaped by religion, both among private persons and when the country’s laws are made. Religion is not forbidden, and nobody has to belong to a church. Lesson: Religion og livssyn.
3Hva betyr det at alle som jobber i helsevesenet, har taushetsplikt? What does it mean that everyone who works in the health service has a duty of confidentiality?B. De kan ikke gi informasjon om deg videre til andre hvis du ikke ønsker det selv (They cannot pass on information about you to others unless you want it yourself)Taushetsplikt means health staff cannot pass on information about you unless you want them to. The lesson adds that this includes close family members. Lesson: Helsetjenester.
4Hvor mye betaler unge voksne av kostnadene til tannlegebehandling i den offentlige tannhelsetjenesten? How much of the cost of dental treatment do young adults pay in the public dental service?B. 25 prosent (25 per cent)Young adults pay 25 per cent and the public purse pays 75 per cent. The lesson does not give the age band for “young adults”, so learn the percentage, not an age. Lesson: Tannhelse.
5Hvem har rett til plass på videregående skole?Who has a right to a place in upper secondary school?C. Elever med fullført grunnskole (Pupils who have completed grunnskolen)The lesson states the right in one sentence: pupils who have completed primary and lower secondary school have a right to a place in upper secondary school. Lesson: Videregående skole og høyere utdanning.
6Hvor finnes det et Nav-kontor?Where is there a Nav office?A. I alle kommuner i Norge (In every municipality in Norway)The lesson: every municipality in Norway has a Nav office. Nav is responsible for the social insurance schemes and for social assistance. Lesson: Velferdsstaten.
7Hva trenger du for å kunne åpne en bankkonto i Norge? What do you need to be able to open a bank account in Norway?C. Et norsk personnummer eller et norsk D-nummer (A Norwegian personal identity number or a Norwegian D number)The lesson names two things, either of which is enough: a Norwegian personnummer or a Norwegian D-nummer. Citizenship and a job are not named. Lesson: Personlig økonomi.
8I hvilken periode er det forbudt å tenne opp bål i skogen eller i nærheten av skogen? In which period is it forbidden to light a fire in the forest or near the forest?B. Fra 15. april til 15. september (From 15 April to 15 September)The lesson gives the dates under allemannsretten: from 15 April to 15 September. It adds that a disposable grill may be used, with care. Lesson: Natur og naturressurser.
9Hva kaller vi det når innbyggerne sorterer sin egen søppel? What do we call it when the inhabitants sort their own rubbish?A. Kildesortering (Source sorting)Sorting your own rubbish is called kildesortering. Dugnad is voluntary unpaid work done together; allemannsretten is the right to use nature. Lesson: Natur- og miljøvern.
10Hva sier leksjonen om kjønnslemlestelse i Norge? What does the lesson say about female genital mutilation in Norway?C. Det er forbudt i Norge (It is forbidden in Norway)The lesson is categorical: kjønnslemlestelse is forbidden in Norway. It gives no exception for the parents’ wish or for age. Lesson: Kjønnslemlestelse.

How to use your score. Eight or more right out of ten is above the 75% that 24 of 32 comes to (our arithmetic), and tells you only that these ten lessons are in place. Seven or fewer is not a forecast either: it is a list of lessons to reread on day 6. Whatever the score, look at why a wrong option was wrong. In a three-option test the two wrong options are often true of something else in the curriculum (1905 and 1945 are real years; dugnad and allemannsretten are real words), and knowing what they belong to is worth as much as knowing the key.

Dates and numbers to say aloud on day 7

Every row is a sentence of a lesson; the lesson is named. These are the facts behind the practice questions on our pages, gathered in one place. It is not a list of “likely questions”: HK-dir says its example test is not the test you will get.

AidsNone. No dictionary, no notes, no phone, smart watch or smart glasses, no other website or program than the test system.
If caught cheatingYou can be sent out, get no certificate, have to wait one year before taking the test again and have to pay for the next test.
ResultYou can see the result the day after the test. If you pass, the test centre sends a certificate, which comes by post two to four weeks after the test.

Which of the two social-studies tests you need, and whether a document you already hold exempts you from this one, is in statsborgerprøven vs samfunnskunnskapsprøven. The other half of the requirement, B1 in the oral part of norskprøven, has its own guides: norskprøve B1 muntlig with model answers and which level counts for citizenship.

Practise it, don't just read it

After these ten, one more set is on the exam page.

One practice quiz is live on the exam page: 12 questions in Norwegian on Demokratiet i Norge, three options each, with the reason for every answer in English. None of its questions is repeated in this article.

The whole curriculum on seven pages

A last week goes further with the whole curriculum on seven pages beside you.

The Statsborgerprøven Revision Kit is a seven-page PDF in English, built on the same lessons of samfunnskunnskap.no (57 by our count), with the Norwegian word you will meet in the test printed beside each fact, a Norwegian–English word list, a list of traps and a 20-question self-test. Page 1 is free to read in full. It is a revision aid, not an official document, and it does not replace the lessons.

Frequently asked questions

How should I practise for statsborgerprøven in the last week?

Read all 13 topics of samfunnskunnskap.no once more over five days, sit HK-dir’s example test with a clock on the sixth, reread the lessons you missed, and keep the last day for a light review and getting your ID ready. The split is ours; HK-dir publishes no plan.

Is HK-dir’s example test the same as the real test?

No. HK-dir says the example test is not the test you will get, but that it is good training in what the tasks look like and how you answer them on the computer.

Are the questions on this page official?

No. They are ours, written from the bokmål lessons, with the lesson sentence each answer rests on. They follow the real test in having three options and being in Norwegian.

How many questions are on these pages in total?

Thirty-five different ones across three guides: 10 here, 10 in the pass-mark guide and 15 in the guide to the test in English. The practice quiz on the exam page and the kit’s self-test are separate again.

How many answers can I get wrong?

Eight of the 32 counting tasks: you pass with 24 correct. Four of the 36 tasks shown are trial tasks that do not count, and you are not told which.

Should I revise in English or in Norwegian?

The test is only in Norwegian, at level A2. Reading a lesson first in a language you know well and then in Norwegian is our suggestion; the Norwegian words are the ones you will meet in the test.

Which topics matter most?

We found no weighting of topics on HK-dir’s pages. Its page for test centres says the answers to the tasks are to be found on samfunnskunnskap.no, so every lesson is in scope.

What ID do I need on the day?

Valid physical ID showing the ID number you registered with: for example a valid passport, a Norwegian bank card with photo, a Norwegian driving licence (not the digital one), an EEA national ID card, a refugee travel document or a residence card. HK-dir’s page has the full list.

How fast do I get the result?

HK-dir says you can see the result the day after the test and that, if you pass, the certificate comes by post two to four weeks after the test.

What if I fail?

You register for a new sitting and pay when you register, since the municipality sets the date and the fee. We found no limit on the number of attempts on HK-dir’s candidate pages, which is not the same as HK-dir saying there is none; test dates are set by each test centre.
