What went into these seven pages
Written from the primary documents, not from other people's notes:
- The lesson texts of samfunnskunnskap.no (bokmål), HK-dir's curriculum resource: 13 topics, 57 lessons, read 12 October 2026.
- HK-dir's pages on statsborgerprøven: about the test, registration, the test day, results and complaints, read 12 October 2026.
HK-dir does not publish past tests, only an example test. The kit therefore follows the official curriculum and does not claim to know which questions come up.
Questions
Is it only for the last week before the exam?
No. It is a cheatsheet of the important points, formulas and facts. Keep it on your phone and use it all through your preparation: before a mock, when a topic slips, and for one full read in the final days.
How do I get it after paying?
It's yours the moment the payment clears, and you come straight back to this page with Download and Read buttons. It stays in your ProSyllabus account.
Will the kit be updated after I buy it?
Yes. We regularly correct and improve our kits as syllabi, notifications and exam patterns change. Each time you download from this page you get the latest version, at no extra cost — so check back here from time to time, and download it again before your exam.
Can I pay with UPI?
Yes — UPI, cards or netbanking on a secure payment page. If you already have ProSyllabus credits, they are used instead and nothing is charged.
Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. Page 1 is on this page in full, free. It is the same page you would get.
Is it in Norwegian?
It is in English, with the Norwegian terms from the official lessons in brackets and a Norwegian–English word list. The test itself is in Norwegian only (bokmål or nynorsk), so read the lessons in Norwegian as well.
Does it contain real test questions?
No. HK-dir does not publish past tests, and the 20 self-test questions are our own. HK-dir has an example test on prove.hkdir.no.
Does it also work for samfunnskunnskapsprøven?
HK-dir says the two tests share the same curriculum. Statsborgerprøven is taken in Norwegian; this kit is written for it.
Is this an official HK-dir document?
No. It is a revision kit compiled by ProSyllabus from HK-dir's curriculum resource. Always check hkdir.no and udi.no.
What does this kit cover?
Seven pages in English: the Storting and government, who decides what at state, county and municipal level, who may vote, history from the Vikings to oil, nature and the right to roam, the calendar, religion, equality, the six national minorities and the Sami, work, tax and Nav, school, health services, family law and children's rights — each fact from the lesson the test is built on, with the Norwegian word used in the test.
Found a mistake? Report it — if we accept it, we fix the kit for every buyer and thank you by name on this page.
