XAT Cut-offs: What XLRI, XIM and GIM Publish, and What Is Only Reported

Checked 30 September 2026. High for the reported figures, which change every cycle and between sites. Low for the institute policies, which are fixed for the 2027 cycle. XIM University says it posts its cut-offs in the first week of February; re-check then.

XLRI does not publish XAT cut-offs, and it does not publish the weights it gives to XAT, the interview, academics or work experience. Every "official XLRI cut-off" table online comes from a coaching or news site, and the ones we compared do not agree with each other. Among the institutes whose 2027 admission pages we read, XIM University says it announces its cut-offs on its website in the first week of February, and Goa Institute of Management publishes its selection weights. This guide separates what the institutes publish from what is reported about them, and labels every reported number. ProSyllabus is an independent study site. It is not part of XLRI Jamshedpur, which conducts XAT for the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), nor of any institute that uses XAT scores. Every rule here is quoted or summarised from xatonline.in, xlri.ac.in or the institute's own admission page, and they decide every case.

Where other pages get this wrong

XLRI publishes no cut-off for XAT, overall or by section.

Commonly published instead: Many pages print "official XLRI cut-offs" for BM and HRM by category and section, and the figures differ from page to page. Our own XAT notice board quotes an expected XLRI BM cut-off of about 95 for male engineers, a figure XLRI never published.

XLRI's admission page and its 2026 prospectus list the factors it considers and publish no cut-off and no weights. The 2026 XAT bulletin adds that each institute using XAT "independently decides the weightages" and that XLRI "has no role" in their selection.

Final-year students: XIM University asks that final exams be over by 15 June 2027, and GIM that the degree be complete by June 2027. The XAT FAQ gives 12 June 2027 in one answer and 11 June 2027 in another for XAT and XLRI. Each institute's own date governs its own admission.

GIM: the published weights, and a calculator

GIM lists five selection components with their weights. The objective test is the XAT, CAT or GMAT score; the face-to-face evaluation is its interview process; the profile assessment index covers diversity. GIM also runs an Achiever's Round, a profile-based shortlist made first on achievements and only later on test scores, with interviews in Delhi, Goa and Kolkata.

GIM composite-score calculator (published weights)

Goa Institute of Management is the one XAT-accepting institute in this guide that prints its selection weights: objective test 40%, past academic record 15%, work experience 10%, face-to-face evaluation 30%, profile or diversity index 5%. GIM does not say how each component is scored, so enter each one on a 0 to 100 scale (for the test, your XAT percentile is a reasonable stand-in). That scale is our assumption, not GIM's.

Weights from GIM's PGDM admission-process page. The composite is our arithmetic: GIM does not publish its scoring scales, its cut-offs or the composite needed for an offer. No other institute's weights may be read into these.

Two points on reading the weights. The test is 40% and the interview 30%, so a strong interview can make up a good deal of ground on the test; in example B above, the higher test score is outweighed by the rest. And GIM publishes the weights, not the scale each component is scored on or the composite that earned an offer, so the calculator shows how the weights combine, not whether a given composite is enough.

Reported XLRI cut-offs for 2026, and why they conflict

The figures below are reported by Careers360, which labels them official. XLRI has not published them, and we could not find them in any XLRI document. They are XAT 2026 figures (the January 2026 sitting) in percentiles, overall and by section, by gender and engineering background.

Programme and group (reported)OverallQAVALRDM
BM, engineering, male96868385

HRM, engineering, male95809085
HRM, engineering, female90738578
HRM, non-engineering, male93759085
HRM, non-engineering, female88688578

Another set of "official" XLRI 2026 figures circulates, attributed in search results to cracku.in and collegedekho; we could not open those pages to confirm the source. It agrees on the overall BM figures for men (96) and women (91) but not on the sections: for BM men it gives VALR 79, DM 74 and QA 88, against Careers360's VALR 83, DM 85 and QA 86, and for HRM engineering men VALR 77, DM 71 and QA 86 against 90, 85 and 80. Both cannot be XLRI's figures. The DM figures alone differ by 11 percentile points, 74 against 85.

HRM engineering male, overall / VALR / DM / QA95 / 90 / 85 / 8095 / 77 / 71 / 86

What you can take from these, on our reading: the reported overall figures sit in the low to high 90s for BM, and every source shows sectional thresholds as well, so a lopsided score is exposed. What you cannot take from them is a target to aim at. XLRI does not confirm any of them, the section figures disagree by several percentile points, and XLRI says its shortlist may also use academics and work experience.

Reported expectations for other XAT institutes

Careers360 also reports expected overall XAT percentiles for other institutes. These are its expectations, not institute figures; we list them only so that you can see what circulates, and each institute's own page is what decides.

Expected XAT percentile for a call, as reported by Careers360 (not institute figures)
SPJIMR Mumbai90+
XIM University (XIMB)90+
IMT Ghaziabad90+
KJ Somaiya85+
GIM Goa85+
TAPMI80+

Reported by Careers360. None of these institutes published a cut-off on the pages we read; XIM University says it will post its own in the first week of February.

Raw marks and percentiles: also only reported

XLRI publishes no score-to-percentile table. Two reported ranges for the 95th percentile disagree: about 35 to 37 raw marks (Careers360) and about 32 to 35 (Testbook). Because XAT is a single slot and the percentile depends on how every candidate scored, any such range moves from year to year. The marking guide in this series has a calculator for your own net score.

Application fees at XIM University: two tables on one site

XIM University's PG FAQ has two fee statements that do not match. One table gives ₹1,900 for the first programme or test option, ₹850 for the second and ₹400 for each further option, with XGMT ₹1,650 extra; the MBA-BM page gives the same. An older answer lower in the same FAQ says ₹1,800 for the first option and ₹400 for each further one, with ₹1,500 extra for XGMT. The table and the programme page agree with each other, so we take ₹1,900, ₹850 and ₹400, plus ₹1,650 for XGMT on 17 January 2027, as current. The fee is non-refundable.

Who uses XAT for 2027

XLRI conducts XAT for the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). The XAT home page says more than 250 B-schools use the scores and the exam is held in more than 100 cities. The 2026 bulletin lists 12 XAMI members: LIBA Chennai, XIM University Bhubaneswar, Quinlan School of Business (Loyola University Chicago), XIME Bengaluru, SFIMR Mumbai, XIMR Mumbai, SJIM Bengaluru, XIDAS Jabalpur, AIMIT (St Aloysius) Mangalore, XLRI, Xavier Business School (St Xavier's University Kolkata) and XISS Ranchi. For 2027 the home page names a new member, Xavier Institute of Management and Informatics, Jaipur, and new associate institutes: AJNIFM Faridabad, Dayananda Sagar Business School, Mahindra University, Narayana Business School and Sparsh Global Business School.

The home page also shows logos of many other schools. A logo is not proof that a given programme accepts XAT 2027: check the institute's own 2027 admission page. The 2026 bulletin notes that XLRI does not verify the quality of the degrees or programmes offered by other institutions that use XAT scores.

Practise it, don't just read it

No cut-off is certain, but every one of them rewards a clean Part 1 score. Reading comprehension is where the most VA&LR marks sit.

One XAT quiz is live on ProSyllabus today: Reading Comprehension Inference Questions Fundamentals, 10 questions. Its questions carry four options where the real XAT paper has five, so treat it as reading practice, not as a mock of the 95-question paper.

What is the XAT cut-off for XLRI?

XLRI does not publish one. Coaching sites report 2026 figures around 96 for BM engineering men and 91 for women (Careers360), but a second circulating set disagrees on every sectional figure, and XLRI confirms neither.

Does XLRI have sectional cut-offs?

XLRI does not publish any. Every reported table includes sectional figures, which suggests they exist, but the numbers differ between sources.

When does XIM Bhubaneswar announce its XAT cut-off?

Its PG FAQ says cut-off marks for each test are announced on the website in the first week of February. Separate cut-offs may apply to permanent residents of Odisha.

What are the GIM Goa selection weights?

Objective test (XAT, CAT or GMAT) 40%, past academic record 15%, work experience 10%, face-to-face evaluation 30% and profile or diversity index 5%, according to GIM's PGDM admission page.

Is there a relaxation for Goan candidates at GIM?

Yes. For selection to the face-to-face evaluation, the qualifying cut-off score may be lowered by up to 15 points for candidates of Goan domicile or origin. There is no reservation as such.

What XAT percentile do I need for XIMB?

XIM University has not published a figure for the 2027 cycle yet; it says cut-offs come in the first week of February. Careers360 reports an expectation of 90+, which is not an institute figure.

Does XLRI publish the weightage of XAT, interview and work experience?

No. It lists the factors (XAT, interview and/or group discussion, work experience, academics, extracurriculars) without weights. The percentage splits that circulate online disagree with each other.
