Checked 29 September 2026. The portal list is live and grows as institutions register; this page records it as seen on 29 September 2026. The 91, 86 and 93 counts are from the result releases of CAT 2023, 2024 and 2025, published in December.
The CAT 2026 bulletin says the score may be used by “listed non-IIM member institutions”, and that the list is on iimcat.ac.in. On 29 September 2026 that list — titled “List of Non-IIM Member Institutions” — had 65 rows. In each of the last three cycles, the December result release stated how many non-IIM institutions would use CAT that year: 91 in 2023, 86 in 2024 and 93 in 2025. This guide prints the current list by state, explains how it relates to those counts, and sets them against the “1,200 colleges” figure that circulates widely.

Where other pages get this wrong
“1,200+” is not the CAT Centre’s count of registered non-IIM member institutions: that count was 91, 86 and 93 in the last three cycles.
Commonly published instead: “CAT scores are accepted by 1,200+ B-schools.”
The CAT 2023, 2024 and 2025 result releases state that 91, 86 and 93 non-IIM institutions “will also use CAT scores this year”, and ask candidates to check that the institution they apply to is registered with the CAT Centre. Other colleges may ask applicants for a CAT score in their own admission process without being on the official list, so a broader “accepts CAT” count is possible under some other definition — but no official source gives 1,200, and we have not seen the method behind that figure.
How many non-IIM institutions use CAT
| Cycle | Non-IIM institutions using CAT | Source |
|---|---|---|
| CAT 2023 | 91 | result release, 21.12.2023 |
| CAT 2024 | 86 | result release, 19.12.2024 |
| CAT 2025 | 93 | result release, 24.12.2025 |
| CAT 2026 | 65 rows listed so far | iimcat.ac.in, as seen 29.09.2026 |
The 2026 figure is not comparable with the others yet. The earlier counts are the figures stated in each December result release (which still told candidates to check the portal); the 2026 figure is a snapshot two months before the test. Expect the list to grow, and check it again before you apply.

Our count of the rows on the portal list as seen on 29 September 2026. Jaipuria Institute of Management appears four times (twice in Uttar Pradesh, once each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan), so the 65 rows are 63 distinct displayed names (three identical “Jaipuria Institute of Management” rows plus “Jaipuria Institute of Management - Indore”), or 62 if all four Jaipuria rows are counted as one brand.
Our count from iimcat.ac.in, 29 September 2026.
New Delhi (9), Telangana and Uttar Pradesh (8 each), and Maharashtra and Karnataka (7 each) account for 39 of the 65 rows. The eastern and north-eastern states are thin: Bihar and West Bengal have five between them, and no institution from the north-east appears yet.

Search the non-IIM list
Type part of a name or pick a state. The list is the one on iimcat.ac.in as seen on 29 September 2026; institutions can still register, so check the portal before you apply.
IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions (CAT 2026 Information Bulletin). Each institution controls its own admission process.
What “on the list” does and does not mean
Being on the list means the institution has registered with the CAT Centre to receive CAT scores. It does not mean the IIMs select anyone for it. The bulletin is direct: “IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions.” Each institution controls its own admission process: separate applications, deadlines, cut-offs, interviews and other selection stages vary by institution, so check the programme’s current admission notice. Registering for CAT does not apply you to any of them.
Several of the best-known names are here: ISB, SPJIMR, MDI Gurgaon and MDI Murshidabad, IIFT, IMI, FORE, MICA, TISS, NIBM, TAPMI, K J Somaiya, Goa Institute of Management, BIMTECH, KIIT School of Management, IIFM, the three IMT campuses, the University of Hyderabad and NIT Warangal and Tiruchirappalli. Several are not on the list as of this date, and absence does not mean an institution rejects CAT: FMS Delhi, for example, is not on the list but runs its own admission using CAT scores, reported to weight VARC 40, DILR 30 and QA 30 on scaled scores.
| Question | Where to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Is the institution on the CAT list? | iimcat.ac.in, List of Non-IIM Member Institutions | The CAT Centre asks candidates to confirm registration before applying |
| Does it need a separate application? | the institution’s own admissions page | CAT registration does not apply you to non-IIM programmes |
| Which CAT score does it use? | its admission policy | Some use percentile, some scaled scores or their own weights |
| What is its deadline? | its own notice | Several close before the CAT result |

Why the number moves year to year
The official count dipped from 91 to 86 between 2023 and 2024 and rose to 93 in 2025, which is normal churn: institutions register per cycle, and a college that did not register one year may use another test or its own. The practical rule is simple. Build your list of target colleges from the current portal page and each college’s own current notice, not from an old article — including a count on a page like this one, which is correct only for the day it was checked.
How many non-IIM colleges accept CAT 2026 scores?
The iimcat.ac.in list had 65 rows on 29 September 2026. The December result releases stated 91 in 2023, 86 in 2024 and 93 in 2025.
Do 1,200 colleges accept CAT?

Where is the official list of non-IIM colleges using CAT?

Yes, Indian School of Business (Telangana) is on the list as seen on 29 September 2026.
