TS CPGET M.Sc Closing Ranks 2026: College-Wise, Category-Wise (Phase 1)

Checked 25 September 2026. Derived from the official Phase-1 allotment list (released 17 Sep 2026). Phase 2 (allotment 5 Oct 2026) re-opens unreported seats and will move these ranks.

TG CPGET publishes ranks, not cutoffs. So the only way to know which rank got which seat is to read the official Phase-1 allotment list — every allotted candidate's rank, category and seat — and take the highest rank admitted to each seat. We did that for nine M.Sc tests at the university campus and constituent colleges. This page gives the results and a tool to check your own rank against them.

Where other pages get this wrong

The TS CPGET "cutoff" is not 25%. That is only the qualifying mark.

Commonly published instead: "TS CPGET cutoff 2026: 25% for general, no minimum for SC/ST."

The brochure sets 25% as the qualifying mark for OC, EWS and BC candidates (no minimum for SC/ST), which only earns you a rank. In 2026 93.54% of candidates who appeared qualified (reported). What decides a seat is the rank at which each college, course and category closed — and at OU campus that was a rank in the tens for most M.Sc courses.

How these closing ranks were worked out

No official "last rank statement" exists for TG CPGET — not on the exam portal, not on the admissions portal, and not in any press note. What the Directorate of Admissions does publish is the Phase-1 list of provisionally allotted candidates: for every college and course, each allotted candidate's rank in that subject's test, their category and the seat category they were allotted under. We took the highest rank allotted in each college × course × seat type × category bucket. That is the closing rank. We kept only ranks and category codes, never names or hall-ticket numbers.

Term in the tablesWhat it means
OC localThe open-merit seat for local candidates, not reserved for women. Any local candidate can take it on rank, including BC, SC and ST candidates.
OC local (women)Open seats filled under the 33.33% reservation for women. A woman candidate is considered for these and for the general open seats.
BC-B, BC-D, SC Gr-2, STThe general (not women's) seats of that category. BC-A and EWS are in the lookup tool.
–Nobody was allotted in that bucket in Phase 1, so there is no closing rank to compare with. It does not mean the seat was out of reach — if you want it, list it.
ScopeLocal candidates on convener-quota seats only. Unreserved (non-local) and NIQ seats close separately and are not in these tables.
Regular / self-financeThe same course at the same college with a lower (regular) or higher (self-finance) fee. They are separate seats with separate closing ranks.

Three limits apply to every number here. They are Phase-1 ranks, and Phase 2 re-opens seats that were allotted but not taken up, so several of them will get deeper on 5 October. A candidate is allotted a seat only if they listed it in their web options, so a closing rank tells you who was admitted, not who could have been. And the table covers university campus and constituent colleges plus a few others; affiliated colleges, which hold most of the seats, admit far deeper ranks.

Ranks are within each subject's own test: rank 25 in Mathematics and rank 25 in Chemistry are different candidates in different rank lists. M.Sc Computer Science at OU campus and KU campus is offered only as a self-finance course, which is why those two rows are self-finance.

Derived from the official 2026 Phase-1 allotment list. A longer bar means a deeper (easier) closing rank.

The pattern holds in every subject we checked: the University College of Science at the OU campus fills its open seats with ranks in the twenties and thirties, while Kakatiya University's campus college closes roughly three to eight times deeper for the same course (Statistics, at 33 against 88, is the narrowest gap). Nizam College and the Saifabad science college sit between the two. For a candidate with a rank in the low hundreds, that is the practical choice — a constituent OU college or the KU campus — rather than the OU campus itself.

Wherever both seat types were filled in the same bucket, the self-finance seat closed deeper — with one exception in our M.Sc table (BC-D for Microbiology at the KU campus: 531 regular, 481 self-finance). The price of that is fee and hostel: at OU campus colleges the 2026 annual tuition for M.Sc is ₹21,290 on a regular seat and ₹35,800 on a self-finance seat, and the brochure excludes self-finance and payment seats from hostel accommodation. A candidate just outside a regular seat's closing rank should decide in advance whether the same course at the same college on a self-finance seat is worth that difference — and list it in their options if it is, because the allotment only considers what you list.

Subject by subject

Physics

Physics has the most specialisations of any test: at the OU campus alone there are regular seats in Solid State, Nano-Science, Material Science, Electronics and Instrumentation, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Applied Electronics and Geophysics. The closing ranks spread widely — Nano-Science closed its open seat at rank 4 and Solid State at 20, while Geophysics, with 24 regular seats, closed at 118. If a specific specialisation matters less to you than the campus, listing several of them widens your reach considerably.

Chemistry

Chemistry is one test, not several: Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical and the rest are courses filled from the same rank list. Organic is the most sought-after specialisation everywhere — at the OU campus its regular open seat closed at 16, against 47 for Inorganic and 73 for Physical. The same order appears at Nizam College (Organic 52, Inorganic 125) and at the KU campus (Organic 114, Inorganic 372, Physical 393).

Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science

Mathematics at the OU campus runs three courses from one rank list: M.Sc Mathematics (open seat closed at 25), Applied Mathematics (45) and Mathematics with Computer Science (82). Statistics and Applied Statistics at the OU campus closed at 33 and 30. Computer Science is self-finance only at both campuses in our table: 23 at OU and 159 at KU.

Life sciences

Botany and Zoology each have their own test. Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Forensic Science and Fermentation Technology share one combined test (code 72, BCESFSFTG&M), and Biotechnology has its own (code 73). At the OU campus, Microbiology's regular open seat closed at 28 and Biochemistry's at 26, while Forensic Science — a self-finance course — closed at 88.

These are the complete Phase-1 figures behind every number on this page — regular (Reg) and self-finance (SF) seats, with BC-A and EWS as well as the categories in the headline table.

Check your rank

Which M.Sc seats closed at or beyond your rank in 2026?

Choose your test, category and rank. The tool lists every seat in our 2026 Phase-1 table that was allotted to a rank at or beyond yours in a bucket you can use — the open (merit) bucket, the women's bucket if it applies, and your own category.

Local candidates, convener quota, 2026 Phase 1 only. A seat that closed beyond your rank was reachable last year only if you had listed it in your options. Phase 2 (allotment 5 Oct 2026) will move these numbers.

Using these numbers in Phase 2

Four rules for your web options

  • Options are fresh every phase. The Phase-1 notification says options must be exercised afresh in each phase, so a Phase-1 list does not carry over.
  • List in true order of preference. Allotment gives you the highest option your rank reaches; listing a seat you would not join only wastes it.
  • Include seats a little beyond your rank. Seats allotted in Phase 1 but not reported re-open in Phase 2, so closing ranks usually get deeper.
  • Physical reporting is mandatory in Phase 2, with original certificates and the tuition-fee receipt, by 9 October 2026.

From the Phase-1 notification and the Phase-2 press note (21 Sep 2026).

Practise it, don't just read it

Next year's closing ranks are made in the paper: 100 questions, 90 minutes and no negative marking.

The ProSyllabus TS CPGET library has topic quizzes for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Commerce, Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology. Each question comes with an explanation.

What is the TS CPGET cutoff for M.Sc?

The qualifying mark is 25% for OC, EWS and BC candidates and there is no minimum for SC and ST. The real cutoff is the closing rank for each college, course and category. In 2026 Phase 1, open seats for local candidates at the OU campus closed at ranks such as 16 for Organic Chemistry, 25 for Mathematics and 20 for Physics (Solid State).

Does TS CPGET publish official closing ranks?

No. No official last-rank statement is published. The Directorate of Admissions publishes the list of provisionally allotted candidates with their ranks and categories, from which closing ranks can be worked out, as this page does.

What rank is needed for M.Sc Chemistry at Osmania University?

In 2026 Phase 1, the regular open seat for local candidates at the OU campus closed at rank 16 for Organic Chemistry, 47 for Inorganic and 73 for Physical Chemistry. The self-finance Organic seat closed at 33.

What rank is needed for M.Sc Mathematics at OU campus?

In 2026 Phase 1 the regular open seat closed at rank 25 for M.Sc Mathematics, 45 for Applied Mathematics and 82 for Mathematics with Computer Science.

Is KU campus easier to get than OU campus?

On 2026 Phase-1 ranks, yes, by a wide margin: the KU campus closed its open M.Sc Mathematics seat at rank 200 against 25 at the OU campus, and Organic Chemistry at 114 against 16.

Do self-finance seats have a lower cutoff?

Almost always. Where both were filled in the same category, the self-finance seat closed at a deeper rank than the regular seat of the same course. Self-finance tuition is higher (₹35,800 a year for M.Sc at OU campus colleges against ₹21,290 for a regular seat) and those seats carry no hostel.

Will closing ranks change in Phase 2?

Usually they get deeper, because seats allotted in Phase 1 but not taken up re-open. Phase-2 web options run 28 to 30 September 2026 and the allotment is on 5 October.

Can a BC or SC candidate get an open seat?

Yes. Under the brochure's rules, reserved-category candidates admitted on merit count against open seats, so a BC, SC or ST candidate is considered for both the open bucket and their own.
