TS CPGET M.A. and M.Com Closing Ranks 2026: College-Wise (Phase 1)

Checked 25 September 2026. Derived from the official Phase-1 allotment list (released 17 Sep 2026). Phase 2 (allotment 5 Oct 2026) re-opens unreported seats and will move these ranks.

For M.A., M.Com and library science, TG CPGET again publishes ranks but no cutoffs. We read the official Phase-1 list of provisionally allotted candidates and took the highest rank admitted to each college, course and category. The result is below, for eight tests at the OU campus, Nizam College, University PG College Secunderabad, the KU campus and others — with a tool to check your own rank.

"Any graduation" tests are the most crowded on the ranks, not the least.

  • Because any graduate can write English, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology or M.Com, those rank lists are long — M.Com has the largest intake of any test (6,972 listed seats) and one of the deepest allotments. But the OU campus seats close early: in 2026 Phase 1 the regular open seat closed at rank 24 for M.A. English, 22 for Economics, 16 for History and 47 for M.Com (Finance).

How these closing ranks were worked out

No official "last rank statement" exists for TG CPGET — not on the exam portal, not on the admissions portal, and not in any press note. What the Directorate of Admissions does publish is the Phase-1 list of provisionally allotted candidates: for every college and course, each allotted candidate's rank in that subject's test, their category and the seat category they were allotted under. We took the highest rank allotted in each college × course × seat type × category bucket. That is the closing rank. We kept only ranks and category codes, never names or hall-ticket numbers.

Term in the tablesWhat it means
OC localThe open-merit seat for local candidates, not reserved for women. Any local candidate can take it on rank, including BC, SC and ST candidates.
OC local (women)Open seats filled under the 33.33% reservation for women. A woman candidate is considered for these and for the general open seats.
BC-B, BC-D, SC Gr-2, STThe general (not women's) seats of that category. BC-A and EWS are in the lookup tool.
–Nobody was allotted in that bucket in Phase 1, so there is no closing rank to compare with. It does not mean the seat was out of reach — if you want it, list it.
ScopeLocal candidates on convener-quota seats only. Unreserved (non-local) and NIQ seats close separately and are not in these tables.
Regular / self-financeThe same course at the same college with a lower (regular) or higher (self-finance) fee. They are separate seats with separate closing ranks.

Three limits apply to every number here. They are Phase-1 ranks, and Phase 2 re-opens seats that were allotted but not taken up, so several of them will get deeper on 5 October. A candidate is allotted a seat only if they listed it in their web options, so a closing rank tells you who was admitted, not who could have been. And the table covers university campus and constituent colleges plus a few others; affiliated colleges, which hold most of the seats, admit far deeper ranks.

Seat counts are our sum of every row of the nine universities' official tentative college lists (2026), which state intake per college, course and seat type. Ranks are within each test: rank 24 in English and rank 24 in Economics are different candidates. UCASS is the University College of Arts and Social Sciences and UCCBM the University College of Commerce and Business Management, both on the OU campus.

The ladder is the same in both subjects and in History, Political Science and Sociology: the OU campus first, then the two OU constituent colleges in Hyderabad (Nizam College and UPGC Secunderabad) within roughly a hundred ranks, then the KU campus, then the campus colleges of Satavahana (Karimnagar) and Mahatma Gandhi (Nalgonda) universities several hundred ranks deeper. For most candidates the useful question is not "OU or not" but which rung of that ladder their rank reaches.

Regular seat or self-finance seat?

In most pairs the self-finance seat closed deeper, but not always. Across our M.A. table it closed earlier in four buckets — for example BC-B for Political Science at the KU campus (306 against 345 on the regular seat) and the open seat for Sociology at the KU campus (84 against 108). The seat types fill independently, so check both. The fee difference is real: at OU campus colleges the 2026 annual tuition is ₹14,800 (regular) against ₹21,800 (self-finance) for M.A. and ₹20,800 against ₹30,800 for M.Com, and self-finance seats carry no hostel.

Test by test

English

M.A. English is offered at seven universities, which gives it one of the longest ladders. After the OU campus (24), UPGC Secunderabad (78), Nizam College (95) and the KU campus (189), the campus colleges of Mahatma Gandhi University (Nalgonda) and Satavahana University (Karimnagar) admitted open candidates up to ranks 995 and 702 (the second on a self-finance seat), and some of their reserved buckets went beyond 2,000.

Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology

These four behave alike. The OU campus closes its open seat between 16 (History) and 22 (Economics); Nizam College and UPGC Secunderabad fill between about 22 and 90; the KU campus between 108 (Sociology) and 147 (Economics). The OU campus self-finance seats sit close behind the regular ones — Sociology at 20, Political Science at 25.

Telugu

M.A. Telugu is open to any graduate. The OU campus regular open seat closed at 19 and Nizam College's at 49; the KU campus reached 88. Satavahana University's campus college and Mahatma Gandhi University's admitted open candidates up to 377 and 656 on self-finance seats.

M.Com and MLISc

M.Com (Finance) at the OU campus commerce college closed at 47 on a regular seat and 60 on a self-finance one, Nizam College's M.Com at 126 and the KU campus commerce college's M.Com (General) at 321. Library science is small and tight: at the OU campus the two-year MLISc regular open seat closed at rank 9.

Check your rank

Which M.A., M.Com and MLISc seats closed at or beyond your rank in 2026?

Choose your test, category and rank. The tool lists every seat in our 2026 Phase-1 table that was allotted to a rank at or beyond yours in a bucket you can use — the open (merit) bucket, the women's bucket if it applies, and your own category.

Local candidates, convener quota, 2026 Phase 1 only. A seat that closed beyond your rank was reachable last year only if you had listed it in your options. Phase 2 (allotment 5 Oct 2026) will move these numbers.

Before you fill Phase-2 options

What to check

  • Register if you did not in Phase 1 — Phase-2 registration, verification and fee payment run 22–26 September 2026.
  • Exercise options afresh on 28–30 September; edit on 1 October. Phase-1 choices do not carry over.
  • List both seat types of a course you want, in the order you would take them.
  • Report in person by 9 October with originals and the tuition-fee receipt; physical reporting is mandatory in Phase 2.

From the Phase-2 press note of 21 September 2026 and the Phase-1 notification.

Practise it, don't just read it

A place at the OU campus in any of these subjects took a rank in the tens or twenties in 2026. That is decided in 90 minutes in July.

The ProSyllabus TS CPGET library has topic quizzes for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Commerce, Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology. Each question comes with an explanation.

What rank is needed for M.A. English at Osmania University?

In 2026 Phase 1 the regular open seat for local candidates at the OU campus (UCASS) closed at rank 24 and the self-finance seat at 60. UPGC Secunderabad closed at 78 and Nizam College at 95.

What is the TS CPGET M.Com cutoff rank?

In 2026 Phase 1, M.Com (Finance) at the OU campus commerce college closed at rank 47 on a regular seat and 60 on a self-finance seat for open local candidates; Nizam College's M.Com closed at 126 and the KU campus M.Com (General) at 321.

What rank is needed for M.A. Economics at OU?

In 2026 Phase 1 the OU campus regular open seat closed at rank 22. Nizam College closed at 69, UPGC Secunderabad at 82 and the KU campus at 147.

Is Nizam College easier to get than the OU campus?

On 2026 Phase-1 ranks, yes: for example M.A. English closed at 95 at Nizam College against 24 at the OU campus, and M.Com at 126 against 47 for M.Com (Finance) at the OU campus.

Are these official TS CPGET cutoffs?

They are derived from an official document — the Phase-1 list of provisionally allotted candidates — but no official closing-rank statement is published. They are Phase-1 figures and will move in Phase 2.

What is the TS CPGET cutoff for MLISc?

At the OU campus the two-year MLISc regular open seat closed at rank 9 in 2026 Phase 1; the self-finance seat went to BC-B up to rank 45 and ST up to 46.

Can I get a seat with a rank of 1,000 in M.A. English?

Not at the OU campus, its constituent colleges or the KU campus on 2026 Phase-1 ranks. The Mahatma Gandhi University campus college admitted open candidates up to rank 995 on regular seats, and affiliated colleges, which hold most of the 3,128 listed M.A. English seats, admit deeper ranks.
