Checked 25 September 2026. From the 2026 examination pattern, brochure and per-test syllabus PDFs. The syllabus for 2027 is published with the next notification; check it then.
Every TG CPGET test has the same shell — 100 multiple-choice questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes, no negative marking — but each subject's syllabus PDF divides those 100 marks differently. Some print exact marks per unit, some only a Part A / Part B split, and some print nothing. This guide collects the 2026 splits so you can plan by marks, not by chapter count.
Chemistry is one test. Organic, Inorganic and Physical are courses filled from it, not separate papers.
- The 2026 subject list has a single Chemistry test (code 62), with Part A worth 40 marks and Part B 60. Every Chemistry specialisation — Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical, Pharmaceutical and the rest — is a course admitted from that one rank list, which is why they close at different ranks in the same college.
2026 examination pattern and brochure.
The pattern
| Item | Rule (2026) |
|---|---|
| Mode | Online computer-based test |
| Questions and marks | 100 objective questions for 100 marks |
| Duration | 90 minutes for every subject |
| Negative marking | None |
| Question types | Multiple choice, plus 3–4 other objective forms such as analogies, classification, matching and comprehension of a study — including items with multiple answers — all from the test's syllabus |
| Qualifying mark | 25% for OC, EWS and BC; no minimum for SC and ST |
| Rank | Separate rank list for each test |
| Tie-break | Older candidate first, then percentage in the qualifying examination |
| Answer-key objections | ₹200 per objection, refunded if the objection is upheld |
| Revaluation | Not allowed |
Two rules change how you should sit the paper. With no negative marking, a blank answer can never beat a guess, so every question should be answered before time runs out — leave the last minute for that. And the tie-break favours the older candidate, not the one with more marks in a section, so two candidates on the same mark are separated by date of birth.
Units with printed marks
Mathematics (test 68)
| Unit | Marks |
|---|---|
| Differential and integral calculus | 20 |
| Differential equations (incl. basic PDEs) | 20 |
| Real analysis | 20 |
| Algebra (groups, rings) | 20 |
| Linear algebra | 20 |
Computer Science (test 63)
TG CPGET 2026 Computer Science syllabus. Totals 100.
C, C++ and data structures in C++ together carry 50 marks, and with Java the programming units reach 65. DBMS is the single largest unit at 20. M.Sc Computer Science is open to B.Sc graduates with Mathematics and Computer Science (or Computer Applications) and to BCA graduates; B.E. and B.Tech graduates are not eligible.
M.Com (test 51)
| Part | Units, 10 marks each |
|---|---|
| A (40) | Financial accounting; advanced accounting; cost and management accounting; business laws |
| B (60) | Business economics; business organisation and management; business statistics; basic computer skills and e-commerce; income tax and basics of GST; research methodology and project report |
Economics (test 31)
The syllabus gives the first four papers 70 marks and the last three 30, and prints 20, 20 and 10 for three of the first four; microeconomics' 20 is by subtraction.
Political Science (test 40)
| Part | Marks | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| A | 30 | Political theory, democracy and related concepts |
| B | 40 | Indian government and politics, the party system |
| C | 30 | Political thought |
Tests split only into Part A and Part B
A 40/60 split is the most common structure among the published 2026 syllabi.
| Test | Part A — 40 | Part B — 60 |
|---|---|---|
| English (13) | Spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, grammar, sentence correction, jumbled words, paragraph order | History of English literature, literary terms, forms, movements, books and authors, poetry and prose comprehension |
| History (33) | Modern world history | Indian history in 12 units, ancient to integration |
| Chemistry (62) | Coordination and organometallic chemistry, reactive organic groups and biomolecules, electrochemistry, kinetics, thermodynamics, photochemistry | Main-group and transition elements, bonding, analysis; structural organic chemistry and stereochemistry; states of matter, solutions, phase rule, colloids |
| MLISc (35) | Books, periodicals, reasoning, mental ability, arithmetic | General knowledge, awareness, current affairs |
| BCESFSFTG&M (72) | Chemistry | One optional from the degree: Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Genetics or Microbiology |
| Biotechnology (73) | Chemistry | Biotechnology |
English Part A is language and Part B literature — a candidate from a B.Com or B.Sc background can bank most of Part A with grammar practice, while Part B rewards someone who has read the literature. In the two life-science tests, Chemistry is 40% of the paper whatever your specialisation, which is why a weak Chemistry base costs M.Sc Biotechnology and Microbiology aspirants more than they expect.
Tests with no printed weightage
| Test | Sections in the syllabus |
|---|---|
| Physics (69) | Mechanics and oscillations; thermal physics; electromagnetic theory; waves and optics; modern physics; electronics |
| Statistics (70) | Descriptive statistics, probability, random variables, distributions, sampling distributions, estimation and testing, sample surveys |
| Data Science (78) | IT fundamentals, Python, data engineering, machine learning, NLP, NoSQL, big data, deep learning |
Where no marks are printed, plan each section roughly evenly and then adjust after a mock test. The Physics syllabus has six sections; nothing in the official PDF says any of them outweighs the others.
Pacing 100 questions in 90 minutes
| Checkpoint | Where you should be |
|---|---|
| 30 minutes in | About question 33 — the first pass takes only what you can answer quickly |
| 60 minutes in | About question 67 |
| 80 minutes in | First pass done; back to marked questions |
| 88 minutes in | Every remaining question answered with your best option — there is no penalty for a wrong answer |
The checkpoints are simple arithmetic on 54 seconds a question, leaving a few minutes in hand. Questions that ask you to match, classify or read a short passage take longer than a one-line recall question, so the first pass should skip them and come back — the pattern says these item types appear alongside plain multiple choice.
What the weightage tells you to do
| Test | The weightage says |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | Five equal units: no unit can be dropped. Real analysis and algebra, the most proof-based, still carry 20 marks each as objective questions — practise them as fast recognition, not proofs. |
| Computer Science | DBMS is the single largest unit (20). Programming in C, C++ and data structures together are half the paper. |
| M.Com | Ten equal units: a B.Com graduate strong in accounts still needs law, tax, statistics and research methodology for 60 marks. |
| Economics | Micro, macro and the Indian economy are 60 marks together; the four smaller papers are 10 each. |
| English | Part A (language, 40) is the most trainable; Part B (literature, 60) rewards breadth of reading. |
| Life sciences (tests 72 and 73) | Chemistry is 40 marks whatever your specialisation. |
After the test: keys and objections
In 2026 the preliminary answer key was released on 18 July, two days after the last test, and objections were accepted until 20 July (dates from the revised activity schedule) at ₹200 per objection, refunded if the objection was upheld. The brochure rules out revaluation, recounting and personal verification, so the objection window is the only chance to correct a wrong key. Note your answers — or at least the questions you doubted — as soon as you leave the hall: the key and the question paper are shown only for the objection window and then removed from the website.
