Checked 30 September 2026. Built from Board letters up to 02.04.2026 and East Coast Railway letters up to 21.08.2026. The 2025-26 cycle is closing zone by zone; no date for the next cycle (from 01.01.2027) existed on 30 September 2026.
The AFA 30% LDCE has been held centrally since 2022: three times by NAIR, Vadodara (20.11.2022, 25.06.2023 and a special drive on 04.08.2024) and once by RRB/Ajmer, on 24.05.2026 and 31.05.2026, after three postponements. Results are not published centrally. Each zone receives its railway-wise marks and runs its own medical, viva and panel. By 30 September 2026 we had found one zone's complete 2025-26 AFA result: East Coast Railway, which empanelled 7 candidates for 8 seats on 21.08.2026. RRB/Ajmer's own Group B page still said its content "will be published soon".
ProSyllabus is an independent study site. We are not affiliated with Indian Railways, the Railway Board, RRB/Ajmer, NAIR Vadodara or any zonal railway. Every rule below is quoted or summarised from their published letters, and your zone's Accounts and Personnel offices decide every application.
Green: CBTs held by NAIR, Vadodara. Amber: 2026 dates fixed and then moved by the Board. Blue: the CBT held by RRB/Ajmer. Purple: East Coast Railway's panel. Official dates; placement on the line is approximate.
Every sitting we could trace
| Cycle | CBT date | Conducted by | What was published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group B LDCE 2022 (current cycle) | 20.11.2022 | NAIR | AFA paper and final answer key; AFA in the 15.30-18.30 shift; objections to 24.11.2022 |
| 30% LDCE, vacancy cycle 01.01.2023-31.12.2024 | 25.06.2023 | NAIR | AFA paper with key; objections to 30.06.2023 |
| Special drive against 30% LDCE, cycle 2023-24 | 04.08.2024 | NAIR | AFA paper with key; objections 07-09.08.2024 |
| 30% LDCE, vacancy cycle 01.01.2025-31.12.2026 | 24.05.2026 and 31.05.2026 | RRB/Ajmer | Zonal results and panels (ECoR found); no central paper or key on RRB/Ajmer's page by 30.09.2026 |
Official: NAIR pages and papers; Board letters E(GP)2024/2/37 of 12.12.2025 to 02.04.2026; ECoR marks table titled "held on 24.05.2026 AND 31.05.2026". For comparison, the 70% selection of the same cycle was held by RRB/Ajmer on 04.05.2025 and 18.05.2025 with a supplementary on 01.06.2025.
The 2025-26 cycle: plan against reality
| Step | Board calendar 12.12.2025 | Board revision 02.04.2026 | East Coast Railway, actual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notification of the 30% LDCE | 22.12.2025 | — | 23.12.2025 |
| Last date for HRMS applications | — | — | 04.01.2026 |
| Eligible list notified | 23.01.2026 | — | 22.01.2026 |
| Pre-selection training for SC/ST done | 27.02.2026 | 30.04.2026 | deadline 27.02.2026 set in the notification |
| CBT | 08.03.2026 | 24.05.2026 and 31.05.2026 | held on those dates |
| Result by RRB/Ajmer | 06.04.2026 | 22.06.2026 | result order 1/33/2026 dated 20.07.2026 |
| Viva | — | — | 21.08.2026 (letter of 06.08.2026) |
| Panels finalised | 11.05.2026 | 27.07.2026 | 21.08.2026 (Office Order 1/38/2026) |
Against the revised calendar, East Coast Railway's result order came about four weeks after the date set for RRB/Ajmer's result, and its panel 25 days after the panel date (our arithmetic). The ECoR result order of 20.07.2026 is cited in the viva letter; we did not find it posted on its own.
Why the 2026 CBT moved three times
| Board letter | Decision | Reason given |
|---|---|---|
| 12.12.2025 | CBT by RRB/Ajmer on 08.03.2026; applications through HRMS | — |
| 05.02.2026 | Postponed to "anytime after March, 2026" | Zones could not spare staff in the last quarter of the financial year |
| 18.02.2026 and 19.02.2026 | CBT on 12.04.2026 and 19.04.2026, 50% of each department's candidates on each date | — |
| 26.02.2026 | Deferred "beyond April, 2026"; pre-selection training to finish by April end | Financial-year closing and Holi special trains |
| 02.04.2026 | CBT on 24.05.2026 and 31.05.2026, with normalisation "to ensure parity" | Two dates were an operational need |
Official: Board letters E(GP)2024/2/37 on those dates. East Coast Railway also posted its own notice of 05.02.2026 on the postponement of the 08.03.2026 CBT.
Which results are public
Neither NAIR nor RRB/Ajmer publishes an all-India AFA result, pass count or vacancy total. NAIR published only papers and keys. Results live with the zones, which post them on their own websites if they post them at all. On 30 September 2026 we found:
| Zone / source | What we found for AFA 2025-26 |
|---|---|
| East Coast Railway | Notification (8 posts), eligibility list (70 eligible, 6 not), marks table (69 listed, 50 present), viva letter (11 called), panel (7 empanelled) |
| South East Central Railway | Only an older AFA 30% LDCE panel from February 2024 |
| East Central, North Eastern and Southern Railway pages checked | No AFA 2025-26 result found |
| RRB/Ajmer Group B Selection page | "Content for this section will be published shortly" |
| Railway Board E(GP) index | No letter under E(GP)2024/2/37 after 02.04.2026 |
So there is no all-India AFA pass rate, and we do not estimate one from a single zone. East Coast Railway's figures — 7 of 50 present reaching a normalised 90, 7 of 8 seats filled, the ST seat empty — describe one cohort in one zone. Its full breakdown is in the pass-marks guide. For the other Group B posts of the same CBT, the Group B LDCE notice board tracks updates.
How to read your zone's result letters
A zonal AFA result arrives as a sequence of short letters rather than one list, and each answers a different question. The result order comes first: ECoR's was Office Order 1/33/2026 of 20.07.2026. We did not find it posted; the viva letter calls candidates "in continuation" of it, so it is, on our reading, the zone's declaration of who qualified in the CBT. The viva letter (ECoR, 06.08.2026) names who is called, in alphabetical order, with a date, time and place, and asks for a bio-data form in triplicate; only candidates found medically fit may sit the viva. The panel (ECoR, Office Order 1/38/2026 of 21.08.2026) lists the empanelled in panel position, says against which category of vacancy each is placed, and states that it is provisional, subject to cases pending in the courts, and approved by the General Manager. Some zones also post the CBT marks table as RRB/Ajmer furnished it; ECoR's AFA table gives the final mark and the normalised score for every candidate, present or absent.
| Letter | Tells you | ECoR AFA 2025-26 |
|---|---|---|
| Result order | Who qualified in the CBT (our reading; not seen) | 1/33/2026, 20.07.2026 (cited in the viva letter, not found posted) |
| Viva call | Whether you are called, and when; alphabetical, not a rank | 06.08.2026: 11 called for 21.08.2026 |
| Panel | Panel position and the seat category you fill | 1/38/2026, 21.08.2026: 7 empanelled |
| Marks table | Your final mark and normalised score | posted; viva and record marks not included |
What comes next
The LDCE follows two-year vacancy cycles: 01.01.2023-31.12.2024, then 01.01.2025-31.12.2026 (with anticipated vacancies to 30.06.2027 in the Board's letter). On that pattern the next AFA cycle would begin on 01.01.2027 — our inference; no Board letter had announced it by 30 September 2026. The Board's letter of 16.04.2026 fixes a common cycle 01.01.2027-31.12.2028 only for Miscellaneous and Isolated cadres, not Accounts. When the next cycle comes, expect the same sequence: a Board letter, then your zone's notification with its cut-off date, HRMS applications, an eligibility list and pre-promotional training for SC/ST candidates, then the CBT.
What to watch, and where (our list)
- The Railway Board E(GP) circular index for a new letter on the 30% LDCE for the 2027-28 cycle.
- Your zone's Accounts (PFA) or Personnel notifications page for the AFA/ADFM notification and eligibility list.
- RRB/Ajmer's Group B Selection page for instructions and any published key.
- Your HRMS promotion module for the application window.
None of these had an AFA item for the next cycle on 30 September 2026.
When was the last railway AFA LDCE held?
On 24.05.2026 and 31.05.2026, conducted by RRB/Ajmer for the 2025-26 vacancy cycle.
Why was the 2026 CBT postponed?
The Board moved it from 08.03.2026 because zones could not spare staff in the last quarter of the financial year, then from 12/19.04.2026 because of financial-year closing and Holi special trains, before fixing 24 and 31 May.
Where is the AFA LDCE result published?
Zone by zone. Each railway receives its marks from RRB/Ajmer and issues its own viva list and panel. There is no central result list.
Has any zone published its 2025-26 AFA result?
East Coast Railway has: a marks table, a viva letter of 06.08.2026 and a panel of 21.08.2026 empanelling 7 candidates for 8 posts.
Who conducted the earlier AFA LDCEs?
NAIR, Vadodara, on 20.11.2022, 25.06.2023 and in a special drive on 04.08.2024. Their AFA papers are on NAIR's website.
When is the next AFA LDCE?
No date has been announced. On the two-year cycle pattern the next cycle would start on 01.01.2027; that is our inference, not a notified date.
Is the 2026 AFA question paper available?
Not on RRB/Ajmer's Group B page as of 30 September 2026.
