Checked 25 September 2026. Checked against Prometric's Kuwait PDF and page, Kuwait Government Online and MOH pages (archived) and MEA orders. Where the official answer is "not published", we say so rather than pick a side.
Search for the Kuwait nursing exam and you will find the pass mark given as 50%, 55%, 60% and 65%, the length as anything from 70 to 150 questions, and a retake wait of 30, 45 or 90 days. They cannot all be right, and most are not. This guide takes thirteen common claims and checks each against the official documents — mainly Prometric's Kuwait references PDF, Kuwait's own licensing pages and India's emigration orders. Where no official figure exists, it says so.

Where other pages get this wrong
Nurses can be recruited for Kuwait outside NORKA, ODEPC and OMCL since August 2025.
Commonly published instead: "Kuwait nurse jobs only through NORKA / ODEPC / OMCL."
True from 2015 to 2018, and in modified form until 2025. MEA abolished the country-specific-order requirement on 25 August 2025 and set out agent and direct-employer routes on eMigrate on 4 September 2025. Emigration clearance is still mandatory.
What you can rely on
| Fact | Official figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| RN exam format | 150 questions; "170 Minutes with 10 minutes break in between" | Prometric Kuwait PDF |
| RN pass score | 60% | Prometric Kuwait PDF |
| Attempts | 3, at least 6 weeks apart | Prometric Kuwait PDF |
| Blueprint | Fundamentals 30, Adult 60, Maternal-child 45, Management 15 | Prometric Kuwait PDF |
| Private-sector licence | 3-year course, 1 year's experience, age 21+, KD 25 | Kuwait Government Online |
| Emigration clearance | Mandatory for nurses; any registered route on eMigrate since Aug 2025 | Embassy of India FAQ; MEA OMs |
Why so many numbers disagree
Three things explain most of the confusion. First, the same PDF covers nine exams, and figures for physicians — 65% and 70% pass marks, two attempts for ophthalmology, 190 minutes for anaesthesia — get attached to nurses. Second, three official routes to nursing in Kuwait have different rules, and job-board posts copy one route's requirements (often MOH's resident-hiring age limits) as if they applied to all. Third, Kuwait's ministry website is hard to reach from outside the country, so second-hand summaries circulate in place of the source. The Prometric PDF, by contrast, is freely downloadable and is the one document to trust on the exam itself; download it yourself rather than relying on a screenshot of it.
Where each myth comes from
| Myth | Likely source |
|---|---|
| 65% or 70% pass mark | Physician Registrar and Senior marks in the same Prometric PDF |
| 70–100 questions, 2 hours | Older or other-country exams copied across |
| Age limits for all nurses | MOH's page for hiring nurses already living in Kuwait |
| "2 years' experience" | DHA and Qatar rules, which do ask for two years |
| DataFlow mandatory | Other Gulf regulators (DHA, SCFHS, Qatar) that do require primary source verification |
| NORKA/ODEPC/OMCL only | The 2015 rule, true until 2018 and relaxed fully in August 2025 |
Our reading of why the claims circulate. The pattern is the same each time: a rule that is true somewhere — for physicians, for a different route, for a different country, or in an earlier year — gets attached to Kuwait nursing. Once it is on one popular site it is copied to others, and repetition makes it look settled. Checking the date and the source of a claim, not how often you have seen it, is the only reliable test.
What is genuinely not published
| Question | Official answer |
|---|---|
| Exam fee | Not published; shown when you book with Prometric |
| When results arrive | Not published |
| How long a pass is valid | Not published |
| What happens after a third fail | Not published |
| Licence validity and CPD for renewal | Not published on the pages we could read |
| Whether DataFlow is used | Not mentioned by any official page |
For each of these, the honest answer is "ask": your employer, your recruiter, or Prometric when you book. A confident number on a coaching site is not a substitute, however many sites repeat it; get the answer in writing where money or a deadline depends on it.
How to check a claim yourself
Four sources that settle most questions
- Prometric's Kuwait references PDF — exam format, pass score, attempts, blueprint and books. Check that a figure is under "Registered Nurse", not a physician exam.
- Kuwait Government Online — the nursing-licence services for the private and government sectors, with eligibility, documents and fees.
- MOH's nursing-job criteria — only for applicants already resident in Kuwait.
- eMigrate office orders — India's rules on emigration clearance and recruitment of nurses.
Signs a Kuwait nursing guide is unreliable
- It gives one pass mark for "all professions". The Kuwait PDF has different marks for nurses and physician grades.
- It quotes an exam fee with no source. No official fee is published.
- It applies age limits to everyone. Official limits exist only for MOH hiring of residents.
- It still names only NORKA, ODEPC and OMCL. That rule changed in August 2025.
- It cites no document at all. Every figure in this guide links to one.
Where none of these answers a question — the fee, the result timeline, what happens after a third fail — treat any confident number online as unverified, and ask your employer or Prometric when you book.
Practise it, don't just read it
The one number everyone agrees on is the 150-question paper. Practising against the blueprint is safer than chasing rumours.
The ProSyllabus Kuwait MOH nursing library has topic quizzes for Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing: Cardiovascular and Respiratory, Medical-Surgical Nursing: Renal, Endocrine and Gastrointestinal, Pharmacology for Nurses, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Critical Care and Emergency Nursing, Infection Prevention and Control and Professional Practice, Ethics and Kuwait Health Regulations. Each question comes with an explanation.
Is the Kuwait nursing exam pass mark 55% or 60%?
60% for the Registered Nurse exam, according to Prometric's Kuwait references PDF.
How many questions are in the Kuwait nursing exam?
150 multiple-choice questions; the duration is "170 Minutes with 10 minutes break in between".
How long do I wait before retaking the Kuwait nursing exam?
At least six weeks between attempts. The PDF allows 3 attempts and states no per-year or other rule beyond that.
Is there an age limit for Kuwait nursing jobs?
The private-sector licence requires a minimum age of 21. The 25–35 and 25–40 limits apply to MOH hiring of nurses already resident in Kuwait. No official limit for overseas recruitment was found.
Are GNM nurses eligible for Kuwait?
No official page names GNM. The private-sector licence asks for at least three years of nursing study after the intermediate certificate; MOH's resident-hiring page accepts a diploma after higher schooling with four years' experience. Claims that diploma nurses are "not eligible" have no official source.
Is the Kuwait nursing exam valid for one year?
No official validity period is published. Treat any specific figure as unverified and check with your employer.
Is the Kuwait nursing exam 3 hours?
The official duration is 170 minutes of testing with a 10-minute break in between — about three hours in the chair, but not "two sessions of 1.5 hours".
What happens if I fail the Kuwait nursing exam three times?
No official document we found says. Prometric's PDF gives three attempts at least six weeks apart and stops there.
Can I still go through NORKA for Kuwait?
Yes, government agencies can still recruit; since 25 August 2025 they are no longer the only channel.
Is DataFlow needed for Kuwait?
No official Kuwaiti page we could read mentions it. Kuwait's pages name Ministry of Higher Education equivalency and Ministry of External Affairs attestation.
