GATE 2027, including the EC paper, will be organised by IIT Madras. The official notification and information brochure are not out yet as of July 11, 2026; they are expected in the last week of July 2026. The exam is tentatively scheduled for February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2027.

As per the tentative GATE 2027 calendar, the GOAPS application window opens on August 24, 2026, with the regular-fee deadline on September 29, 2026 and a late-fee window until October 13, 2026. Admit cards are expected from January 3, 2027 and results in March 2027.

For benchmarking, IIT Guwahati's official GATE 2026 qualifying cut-off for EC (Electronics and Communication Engineering) was 26.4 marks for General, 23.7 for OBC-NCL/EWS and 17.5 for SC/ST/PwD. GATE 2027 cut-offs are set afresh after the exam and will be published by IIT Madras.

GATE 2026 results were announced on March 19, 2026 and a GATE score stays valid for three years from the date of announcement of results. So a 2026 EC scorecard remains usable for admissions into March 2029, alongside any GATE 2027 attempt.

No syllabus or pattern revision has been announced for EC; the paper is expected to keep the 65-question, 100-mark, three-hour format with General Aptitude worth 15 marks. Under the two-paper option, EC may be combined with CS, DA, EE, IN or PH. Confirm against the official brochure when released.
