Checked 25 September 2026. From the University of Rajasthan 2026-27 eligibility extract and prospectus (reservation, Ordinances 81-III and 81-IV, admission rules). Rules can change in the 2027-28 prospectus.
URATPG has no eligibility test of its own: anyone can sit it. The bulletin is blunt about what that means — "only appearing in the … Entrance Test … will not ensure admission". Eligibility is set programme by programme in the university's prospectus, mostly as a minimum graduation percentage, and it is checked at Phase II, when the department reads your marksheets. A student who pays for the test without meeting the minimum for the programme they want has bought nothing. This guide sets out those minimums, the reservation rules and the questions the documents leave open.

URATPG eligibility checker
Choose the programme, then enter your graduation aggregate and, where it matters, your percentage in the subject you want to study. The checker tests each route the prospectus prints.
Minimums from the University of Rajasthan's 2026-27 eligibility extract (prospectus pp. 13–22). A 5-point relaxation for candidates with disabilities is Ordinance 81-IV; reserved-category relaxations are printed only for MCA (45%) and LL.M. (50%). Degree and subject conditions are summarised — read the full line for your programme in the prospectus.

Condensed from the University of Rajasthan's 2026-27 eligibility extract (prospectus pp. 13–22); the full lines list every accepted degree. PG diplomas mostly need a bachelor's with 48% or 50%; the law diplomas need an LL.B.
The three routes into an M.A. or M.Com
The humanities and commerce rules give three alternative routes, and it is easy to miss the second. For M.A. Economics, say, you qualify with a B.A. at 48% aggregate, or with 55% in Economics at graduation even if your aggregate is lower, or with any bachelor's degree at 55% aggregate. That last route is how a B.Sc. or B.Com graduate can move into an M.A. — and the middle one rescues a B.A. student whose other subjects dragged the aggregate down. M.Com works the same way at 50/55/55 for B.Com, subject and any-degree routes. The sciences have no such flexibility: M.Sc. Chemistry needs a B.Sc. with Chemistry at 55%.
Reservation
2026-27 prospectus. Persons with disabilities: 5% horizontal in each category and course. Open share is our arithmetic.
| Rule | What the prospectus says |
|---|---|
| Reserved candidate above the General closing score | Counted in the General merit list, not against the quota |
| Filling a reserved quota | Departments may go down to the pass percentage of the qualifying exam |
| Persons with disabilities | 5% of seats, horizontal; 5% relaxation in the minimum marks; no other weightage |
| EWS | No general relaxation in eligibility; the LL.M. rule is the printed exception (50% instead of 55%) |
| Kashmiri migrants | Reserved seats / cut-off relaxation, domicile waived (two framings in the same prospectus) |
| Jaipur serial bomb blast victims (Ord. 81-D) | Outright admission if eligible, one supernumerary seat per course, must sit the test, no fee |
| Wards of defence personnel killed in action | Admitted irrespective of merit, up to 3% supernumerary |
| International students | 15% supernumerary |
| Caste certificates | Issued by the prescribed Rajasthan authorities, as per state government directions |
From the reservation section and Ordinances 81-III and 81-IV of the 2026-27 prospectus. "Outright" admission still requires sitting URATPG — the bulletin says so for every outright category.
Students from outside Rajasthan
We found no domicile requirement for URATPG or PG admission in the 2026 documents. The rule that limits students from institutions outside Rajasthan to 10% (with first division) is printed under the undergraduate admission rules only. What does matter is category: reservation follows Government of Rajasthan policy, and certificates must come from the prescribed state authorities, so a reserved-category candidate from another state should expect to be considered as General unless the department says otherwise. The documents do not state this for PG explicitly — ask the department before relying on a category claim.
Where other pages get this wrong
No PG domicile rule appears in the URATPG-2026 documents; the 10%-outside-Rajasthan limit is an undergraduate rule.
Commonly published instead: "Only Rajasthan domicile candidates can apply for URATPG" or "10% seats for other states" applied to PG.
The prospectus prints the outside-Rajasthan limit under "General Rules for U.G. Admission". No equivalent PG rule was found in the bulletin, FAQ or eligibility extract.
Final-year, supplementary and in-service candidates
| Candidate | What the documents say |
|---|---|
| Final-year student | Can sit the test; merit uses graduation marks, so the final marksheet is needed at Phase II. No explicit rule for results still pending was found — ask the department. |
| Supplementary in one paper | Must sit URATPG; may be admitted provisionally at own risk, counted at pass marks in that paper; admission cancelled if they fail or are absent |
| Employed (government, PSU, bank, college, registered firm) | May be admitted with an employer NOC-cum-character certificate; must sit the test |
| NTS scholar | May get outright admission if eligible; must sit the test |
| Transgender candidate | Outright admission with a government certificate |
| Age | No age limit is printed for URATPG programmes |
From the 2026-27 prospectus (admission clauses 11–14) and the bulletin. The prospectus text still names "URATPG 2025" in some of these clauses.
Eligibility and weightage are separate things
Two rules in Ordinance 81-III are worth knowing before you count on sports, NSS or NCC points. First, weightage is given only if you already meet the minimum percentage for the programme — it cannot lift a 46% B.A. over a 48% bar. Second, for PG only achievements during graduation count; school-level NCC or sports certificates are for undergraduate admission. Only one weightage clause can be claimed, and sports weightage of 5% or more needs a skill test at the University Sports Board. The merit guide shows how much each tier is worth in merit points.
| Question | Answer (Ordinance 81-III) |
|---|---|
| Can weightage make me eligible? | No — it is applied only if the minimum percentage is already met |
| Do school-level NCC or sports certificates count for PG? | No — only achievements during graduation |
| Can I add two kinds of weightage? | No — one clause only |
| Can I submit the certificate later? | No — certificates must be attached to the admission form |
Documents that prove eligibility at Phase II
Take these (self-attested copies) with the Phase II form
- Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets.
- Every undergraduate marksheet — your graduation percentage is 30% of the merit.
- A valid SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS certificate, if you claim a category.
- Weightage certificates (sports, NSS, NCC, disability) — they are "not entertained subsequently".
- Any other document that supports your claim, and the fee challan for each programme.
The bulletin warns that a candidate found ineligible "at any stage" loses the seat, and the benefits of admission, "besides rustication". Check the line for your programme before you pay for the test, not after the result.
Practise it, don't just read it
Eligibility is fixed by your degree; the test score is what you can still improve. Start with a subject quiz.
The ProSyllabus URATPG library has subject quizzes for English, ABST, EAFM, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Geology, Geography and Philosophy — the first one is free.
What is the minimum percentage for URATPG?
It depends on the programme: 48% in B.A. for most M.A. programmes, 50% in B.Com for M.Com, 55% in B.Sc. with the subject for most M.Sc. programmes, and 55% (50% reserved) in LL.B. for LL.M.
Can a B.Sc. student apply for an M.A. through URATPG?
Yes, for the M.A. programmes that accept "any bachelor's degree with 55% aggregate", such as Economics, History or Political Science.
Can other state students apply for URATPG?
Yes. No PG domicile rule was found; the 10% outside-Rajasthan limit applies to undergraduate admission. Reserved-category claims follow Rajasthan certificates.
Is there an age limit for URATPG?
No age limit is printed for URATPG programmes.
Can final-year students apply for URATPG?
Yes, they can sit the test. Merit uses graduation marks, so the final marksheet is needed when applying in Phase II; ask the department if your result is pending.
What is the reservation in Rajasthan University PG admission?
SC 16%, ST 12%, OBC non-creamy layer 21%, MBC 5% and EWS 10%, with 5% horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities.
Is there relaxation in marks for SC/ST in URATPG?
Printed relaxations are for MCA (45%) and LL.M. (50%), plus 5% for persons with disabilities. To fill reserved seats, departments may go down to the pass percentage of the qualifying exam.
What is the eligibility for M.Sc. Chemistry at Rajasthan University?
A B.Sc. (10+2+3) with Chemistry and at least 55% marks.
Do employed candidates need to sit URATPG?
Yes. In-service candidates may be admitted with an employer NOC-cum-character certificate but must sit the test.
