Checked 25 September 2026. From the URATPG-2026 Phase-II "Final PG Programmes" list and the 2026-27 eligibility and seat extract. Programmes and seats can change each year; check the 2027 lists.
URATPG does not test you for a programme; it tests you in a subject, and each subject then opens a set of programmes. Chemistry, for example, leads not only to M.Sc. Chemistry but to Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, M.Sc. IT and a PG diploma in Energy Studies. Choosing your test subjects well therefore decides how many doors you have in September. This guide maps all 28 test subjects to the programmes on the university's final 2026 list, gives the seats, and flags the programmes that were quietly dropped between July and September.
URATPG-2026 bulletin, Phase-II programme list and the merit-based programme list.
Which programmes do your test subjects open?
Pick up to three test subjects — the most one form allows. The finder lists every programme on the university's September 2026 final map that those subjects lead to, with the seats printed in the prospectus.
From the URATPG-2026 "Final PG Programmes" list and the 2026-27 eligibility and seat extract. SFS = self-financing seats. In Phase II you may choose at most five programmes, only from subjects you actually sat.
How subjects turn into programmes
The bulletin sets two limits. In Phase I you may sit up to three test subjects on one form. In Phase II, after the result, you apply for up to five programmes — "within the scope of the subjects in which candidate appeared in the entrance test". Skip a subject, or miss its paper, and every programme that depends on it is closed to you. So the three subjects are really a choice of which programmes you want to be allowed to apply for.
One naming note: Community and Applied Science is the renamed Home Science department. Its M.Sc. has three specialisations — Foods & Human Nutrition, Human Development & Family, and Development Communication & Extension — and the prospectus prints "45 (Regular) + 15 (SFS)" beside the first of them, without saying whether that is per specialisation or for the department.
Seats in the big programmes
University of Rajasthan 2026-27 eligibility and seat extract (prospectus pp. 13–22), "regular + SFS" as printed.
The commerce and social-science M.A./M.Com programmes are the large ones — 120 regular seats each, and 180 in ABST. The sciences are much smaller: 40 regular seats in Physics, Botany and Zoology, 15 in Geology. SFS (self-financing scheme) seats are the same course at a higher fee; the university's free tuition for women in its departments does not extend to them. Several programmes are SFS only — MCA (60), M.Sc. IT (40), Biotechnology and Microbiology (25 + 5 NRI each), Journalism and Mass Communication (40).
Programmes you can reach from more than one subject
| Programme | Test subjects that open it |
|---|---|
| M.Sc. Environmental Science (40 + 20 SFS) | Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Physics, Zoology |
| MCA (SFS, 60) | Computer Application, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics |
| M.Sc. IT (SFS, 40) | Chemistry, Computer Application, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics |
| M.Sc. Biotechnology / Microbiology (SFS, 25 + 5 NRI each) | Botany, Chemistry, Zoology |
| M.A. International Relations & Area Studies (SFS, 30) | Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology |
| Master of Journalism & Mass Communication (SFS, 40) | English, Hindi |
| M.A. Rajasthani Language, Literature & Culture (SFS, 60) | Hindi, History |
| PG Diploma in Jain Studies (15) | Hindi, History, Philosophy, Sociology |
| PG Diploma in Energy Studies (SFS, 30) | Chemistry, Physics |
| PG Diploma in Women Studies (SFS, 30) | Most commerce, social-science, humanities and law subjects |
From the Phase-II final programme list. A science student who takes Chemistry plus Physics or Zoology can reach seven or eight programmes; the finder above does the union for any three subjects.
Programmes that dropped off in September 2026
The July 2026 programme map — identical to 2025's — listed programmes that the September "Final PG Programmes" list does not. Under Business Administration: M.Com HRM, M.Com International Business, Master of Tourism Management and Master of Marketing Management. Under EAFM: PG diplomas in Cooperation, Project Planning & Infrastructure Management, Small Scale & Agro Industries, Development & Investment Banking, and Financial Analysis & Control. Under Law: the PG Diploma in Environmental Law. September added M.A. International Relations & Area Studies and the PG Diploma in Energy Studies. If a site still lists the July programmes as "URATPG courses", it is out of date; the university has not said whether the dropped ones will return in 2027.
Where other pages get this wrong
Use the university's Phase-II "Final PG Programmes" list, not the July map, to see what URATPG admits to.
Commonly published instead: Lists of "URATPG 2026 courses" that include M.Com HRM, M.Com International Business, Tourism and Marketing Management.
Those appear on the July 2026 test-subject map but not on the September 2026 final programme list the university used for Phase II applications.
Programmes that need no URATPG at all
| Programme (2026-27) | How admission works |
|---|---|
| M.A. Sanskrit; M.A. Urdu | Merit of the qualifying exam, no test |
| Master of Performing Art (Music; Kathak & Tabla); M.A. Music | Merit after an aptitude test by the department (Music interviews 18 Sep 2026) |
| Master of Visual Arts — Applied Arts, Painting, Sculpture (SFS, 15 each) | Merit, per the 2026-27 merit-based list — although the prospectus extract prints a "Test Subject: Visual Arts" line; Visual Arts is not one of the 28 URATPG subjects, so ask the department |
| Post-PG diplomas (Human Ecology, Environmental Studies, Population Studies, Counselling); PG diplomas in Gandhian & Peace Studies, Entrepreneurship, Yoga Education | Merit |
| MBA (R.A. Podar Institute) | PIMMAT, a separate test |
| M.Ed., M.P.Ed. | State-level entrance test |
| Ph.D. | PAT |
From the university's "Merit Based Subject (2026-27)" list, the eligibility extract (PIMMAT, the state-level test for M.Ed./M.P.Ed., PAT for Ph.D.) and the admissions announcements (Music interviews). The first four rows are the 15 merit-list programmes; the last three have their own tests. A URATPG form buys nothing for any of them.
The university departments — and the colleges
Every URATPG document speaks of admission to the PG departments of the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Affiliated colleges run many of the same M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com programmes, but we found no official statement that they admit through URATPG merit, and no college seat figures in the URATPG papers. If you are aiming at a particular college, ask it directly how it admits. The total number of URATPG seats is not published either; figures such as "2,231 seats" on aggregator sites are not in any university document.
Choosing your three subjects
A simple way to choose
- Start with the one programme you most want and take the subject that opens it.
- Add a second subject that shares syllabus ground and opens more programmes — Physics + Mathematics, Botany + Zoology, History + Political Science, ABST + EAFM.
- Use the third for a genuine back-up, not a random extra: if its programme is not one you would join, save the ₹240 (General) it costs.
- Check the 2026 timetable in the date guide: some subjects shared a sitting then (Botany with Economics, for example), and the 2027 timetable is notified separately.
| If you want | Sensible pair | Extra programmes it opens |
|---|---|---|
| M.Sc. Chemistry | Chemistry + Physics or Zoology | Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, M.Sc. IT, Energy Studies, MCA (via Physics) |
| M.A. Political Science | Political Science + History or Public Administration | IRAS, Museology, Rajasthani LLC, Indian Culture, Jain Studies |
| M.Com (any) | ABST + EAFM or Business Administration | Cost Management Accountancy, Financial Analysis & Control, Banking & Finance diploma |
| MCA | Computer Application + Mathematics | M.Sc. IT, M.Sc. Mathematics |
| M.A. English | English + Hindi | Journalism & Mass Communication, Rajasthani LLC, Jain Studies |
Our suggestions, built on the official programme map. Your eligibility for each programme still depends on your degree — see the eligibility guide.
Practise it, don't just read it
Two related subjects double your options. Practise both with the subject quizzes before deciding which one leads.
The ProSyllabus URATPG library has subject quizzes for English, ABST, EAFM, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Geology, Geography and Philosophy — the first one is free.
