MNS B.Sc Nursing Eligibility 2026: Age, Height, Weight and Marital Status

Checked 3 October 2026. From the 2026 advertisement (read in full) compared with 2025, 2020 and 2017. The 2027 birth-date window is not published. The Army medical standards (JO/05/2025/Adm/Common Medical Standards) beyond the weight chart are not in the advertisement and we did not find them.

The 2026 advertisement for the Army's B.Sc (Nursing) course is short, and its eligibility rules fit on one page: a woman who is unmarried, divorced, legally separated or a widow without encumbrances, born between 1 October 2001 and 30 September 2009, with 10+2 passed in the first attempt in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at 50% aggregate, at least 152 cm tall (147 cm from Hill and North Eastern States) and within the weight chart, with a qualified NEET (UG) 2026 score. This guide gives each rule as printed, shows how it changed from 2017 to 2026, prints the full weight chart, and ends with a checker you can run in a minute.

The weight chart is Appendix AF to the Army's common medical standards (JO/05/2025/Adm of 17 September 2025), reproduced in the advertisement. Shortlisting is made from NEET scores and registration opens after the NEET result, so the checker below treats a qualified NEET score as a gate.

Am I eligible? Check yourself against the 2026 notice

Answer each line. The checker applies only what the 2026 advertisement prints: any single "no" is a disqualifier, and the medical board still has the last word on fitness. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Age bands for the weight chart are worked out on 20 August 2026, the first screening day of the 2026 cycle; the notice does not say on which date the bands apply, so that is our assumption. This is a self-check against the printed criteria, not an Army decision, and it does not cover the full medical standards, which are not in the advertisement.

Age: the birth-date window, and how it moves

Many pages say "age limit 17 to 25". The notice itself does not use an age limit in 2026; it prints a window of birth dates, and every day in it, first and last, is inclusive. By our arithmetic, a candidate born on the last day of the window turns 17 on 30 September 2026, and one born on the first day turns 25 on 1 October 2026, which is where "17 to 25" comes from. The 2025 flow chart words the rule the old way, "not less than 17 years or more than 25 years of age in which year the course is due to commence", but the 2025 and 2026 advertisements both give birth dates, and a date is what the portal checks.

CycleBirth-date window (both days inclusive)Source

202501 Oct 2000 to 30 Sep 2008official: 2025 advertisement (copy)
202001 Oct 1995 to 30 Sep 2003official: 2020 advertisement (copy)
201701 Oct 1992 to 30 Sep 2000official: 2017 advertisement

Between the 2025 and 2026 advertisements the window moved by exactly one year. The window for the next cycle has not been published, so no date for it is given here. A candidate who just misses the 2026 window cannot use the 2025 one, and the checker applies the 2026 window only.

Where other pages get this wrong

The 2026 birth-date window ends on 30 September 2009.

Commonly published instead: The 2025 flow chart's age-in-years wording ("not less than 17 years or more than 25 years") or a window shifted by a year, such as one ending 30 September 2010.

The advertisement prints dates, not an age. An end date a year late would admit a candidate who is, in fact, too young. Use the printed dates.

Marital status

The notice admits four kinds of female candidate: unmarried, divorced, legally separated, or widow without encumbrances. A married candidate is not in any of the four. The notice does not define "encumbrances", so we do not either; it applies the phrase to widows in the printed sentence. "Legally separated" has been in every advertisement we read from 2017 on, so do not treat it as dropped.

10+2: subjects, marks, attempt

Three conditions sit in one sentence. The candidate must have passed in the first attempt, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English, and with not less than 50% aggregate marks, from a statutory or recognised board, university or examining body. The notice does not say whether the aggregate is over every subject or only over those five. The 2017 advertisement was explicit that the 50% was on "PCBE", the four subjects together, and it excluded private, compartment and open-school candidates by name. The 2025 advertisement kept "as a regular student"; the 2026 text drops that phrase. We cannot say whether that changes who is accepted, which is why the checker shows a "check" line when you are unsure about the aggregate.

The 2020 advertisement (not shown as a column) used 152 cm, with 148 cm for Gorkhas and for candidates from the North East, Garhwal and Kumaon, and also stated the chest X-ray and USG. The portal opens only after the NEET result, so most applicants have already passed 10+2; the provisional rule matters little in practice.

Height and the 2 cm growth allowance

The minimum height for women entering the Armed Forces is 152 cm, and candidates from Hill and North Eastern States are accepted at 147 cm. The notice also says "an allowance for growth of 02 cm will be made for candidates below 18 yrs at the time of examination". It does not say what the allowance does. Our reading is a 2 cm reduction in the minimum, to 150 cm and 145 cm, but this is our interpretation: do not rely on it without confirming at screening. The notice also does not define "Hill" States.

Weight: the full chart for females

The chart gives a minimum weight for every height from 145 to 195 cm, and a maximum weight that depends on age: below 20, 20 to 25, and above 25. Appendix AF in the 2026 advertisement and the appendix attached to the 2025 advertisement carry the same numbers in every row, by our comparison. Some examples:

The medical board and what is not published

Fitness is decided by a Special Medical Board at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt, "as per the standards and criteria prescribed and amended from time to time". The advertisement reproduces only the weight chart from those standards. The rest of the Army's common medical standards (eyesight, hearing, skin, spine and so on) are in a separate document, JO/05/2025/Adm, which the advertisement cites but does not print, and we did not find it. Do not rely on a coaching page that lists vision or tattoo rules for MNS unless it names the document. Three procedural rules are in the notice itself: a candidate declared unfit may appeal by depositing Rs 40 by MRO and reporting to Army Hospital (R&R) for an Appeal Medical Board within 24 hours of the first board; she must be physically present until the board completes and declares her status; and a candidate who is not present is declared "unfit in absentia" with no later representation entertained.

Practise it, don't just read it

Eligibility is a gate, not a score. Once through it, the marks come from NEET, the ToGIGE and the interview.

The ProSyllabus MNS library has 10 live topic quizzes: Human Physiology and Body Systems, Genetics and Heredity, Plant Kingdom and Photosynthesis, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Acids, Bases and Salts, Light, Optics and Reflection, English Vocabulary, Synonyms and Antonyms, two on Reading Comprehension Passages and one on Percentage and Profit Loss. They cover NEET-level science and the English side of the ToGIGE; there is no General Intelligence reasoning quiz in the library yet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the age limit for MNS B.Sc Nursing 2026?

The 2026 advertisement gives a birth-date window, not an age: born between 01 October 2001 and 30 September 2009, both days inclusive. That is about 17 to 25 years on 1 October 2026.

Can a married woman apply for MNS?

No. The notice admits only unmarried, divorced, legally separated or widow without encumbrances. A married candidate is not in any of those categories.

Is a divorced woman eligible for MNS B.Sc Nursing?

Yes, the 2026 notice lists divorced candidates, and also legally separated candidates and widows without encumbrances.

What is the minimum height for MNS?

152 cm for female candidates, and 147 cm for candidates from Hill and North Eastern States. The notice adds a 2 cm growth allowance for candidates below 18 at the time of examination.

What is the MNS weight chart?

Appendix AF gives a minimum and a maximum weight for each height from 145 to 195 cm; the maximum depends on whether the candidate is below 20, 20 to 25 or above 25. At 160 cm it is 41 kg minimum and 56, 59 or 61 kg maximum by age band.

How much percentage is needed in 10+2 for MNS?

Not less than 50% aggregate marks, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English, passed in the first attempt. The notice does not say whether the aggregate is over all subjects or only those five.

Is NEET compulsory for MNS B.Sc Nursing?

Yes. You must qualify NEET (UG) of the same year and register on joinindianarmy.nic.in after the result. Shortlisting is by NEET score.

Can boys apply for Army B.Sc Nursing through MNS?

No. The 2026 advertisement invites applications from female candidates only.

Are tattoos or spectacles allowed in MNS?

The advertisement does not say. It refers to medical standards in a separate Army document (JO/05/2025/Adm) that it does not print; we did not find it, so we cannot answer.

What happens if I am declared unfit at the medical board?

You may appeal by depositing Rs 40 by MRO and reporting to Army Hospital (R&R) for the Appeal Medical Board within 24 hours of the first board. If you are not physically present for the boards you are declared unfit in absentia.
