Checked 25 September 2026. From SIRI’s preparation page and the August 2026 and August 2025 learning material (our sentence comparison). The question distribution by fact sheet is our approximate classification of the 20 official papers.
Every question in Medborgerskabsprøven is written from one free document: Læremateriale til medborgerskabsprøven – demokrati og hverdagsliv i Danmark. There are no current-affairs questions, so this material is the whole syllabus. A new edition, dated August 2026, applies to the 25 November 2026 and summer 2027 tests, and it changes dozens of facts that past papers have asked about — above all after the March 2026 general election. This guide explains the 26 fact sheets, what changed, and where the questions really come from.

Where other pages get this wrong
The learning material and every past paper with its answer key are free from SIRI on danskogproever.dk, and all questions come from the material.
Commonly published instead: Sites that present the official material and past papers as premium content, or advise preparing by “following Danish news media”.
SIRI’s preparation page publishes the material, an MP3 version and all past papers free; BEK 452/2024 §9 says the questions are formulated within the published material, and the test has no current-affairs block.

SIRI preparation page (current and archived); the August 2025 and August 2026 PDFs.
The pattern since at least 2023 is a new edition every late August, each valid for two sittings. If you downloaded the PDF before late August 2026, you have the wrong edition for November. The material is free; the 2026 edition itself says it is published only on danskogproever.dk and not in print, and calls itself the only official material. It is also available as free MP3 audio — an introduction plus one file per fact sheet. SIRI warns that other material online is not official and cannot replace it. The fact sheets can be read in any order, and words marked with an asterisk are explained in the glossary.

What changed in the August 2026 edition
Our sentence-level comparison of the 2025 and 2026 editions found about 126 sentences added and 119 removed out of roughly 2,190. Almost all the changes update facts after the 2026 Folketing election or bring statistics forward a year. The ones most likely to matter in the test:
| Topic | 2025 edition | 2026 edition |
|---|---|---|
| Government | Majority government since 2022: Socialdemokratiet, Venstre, Moderaterne | Four-party government: Socialdemokratiet, SF, Moderaterne, Radikale Venstre |
| Election | Parties after the 2022 election | Parties after the 2026 election, including Borgernes Parti; turnout 84% |
| Usual turnout | “between 80 and 90 percent” | “about 85 percent” |
| Conscription | 4 months; 11 months from 2026 agreed | Normally 11 months; only men were conscripted until 1 July 2025 |
| Eurozone | 19 of 27 EU countries | 21 of 27 |
| Church membership | 71% (2025) | About 70% (2026) |
| Immigrants and descendants | Almost 1 million (16%) | About 1 million (17%) |
| Greenland | Not covered | New text on the US president’s wish for Greenland, rejected by both governments |
| Climate | Emissions down ~51% (1990–2023) | Down ~53% (1990–2024); wind 52% of electricity in 2025 |
| Local election turnout | 67% (2021) | 69% (2025) |
Our comparison of the August 2025 and August 2026 editions; page references in the research file.
One inconsistency is worth knowing about. The 2026 edition gives the share of women in the Folketing as 86 of 179 (48%) in the equality fact sheet and as 49% in the elections fact sheet. The two figures may refer to different dates. Learn both with their context — 86 of 179 (48%) is the equality sheet’s figure, 49% of those elected in 2026 is the elections sheet’s — and let the answer options show which one a question means.
Facts that recur and have not changed
Some facts appear in paper after paper and are unchanged in the 2026 edition: the Folketing has 179 members, two elected in Greenland and two in the Faroe Islands; there are 98 municipalities and five regions; Denmark elects 15 of the European Parliament’s 720 members; the Constitution dates from 1849 and was last changed in 1953; the highest natural point, Møllehøj, is about 170 metres; the population is about six million; five weeks’ holiday is set by law and the most common full-time week is 37 hours; about 68% of employees are union members; Denmark’s first female prime minister was Helle Thorning-Schmidt, in 2011; and the King gives the New Year’s Eve speech on 31 December while the prime minister speaks on 1 January.
Where the questions come from
We matched each of the 500 questions in the 20 official papers to the fact sheet it draws on. The method is approximate — a hand check suggested about four in five are placed correctly — so treat single-sheet figures loosely and group totals more firmly.
| Group of fact sheets | All papers 2016–2026 | 2024–2026 papers |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday life, work, welfare (1–10) | 32.0% | 26% |
| Democracy, law, rights, religion (11–17) | 30.8% | 28% |
| History (20–21) | 12.2% | 20% |
| Culture and traditions (22–23) | 10.6% | 8% |
| Geography and population (19) | 8.4% | 10% |
| Denmark and the world, defence (18, 24) | 4.8% | 6% |
| Discrimination and extremism, climate (25–26) | 1.2% | 2% |
Our classification of the 20 official papers (automated keyword matching against the 2026 fact sheets, hand-checked on a sample).
Our estimate from the 500 official questions. Lowest: equality 2, discrimination 2, welfare 4, climate 4.
Two things follow. The labour market, elections and parties, geography and the Constitution produce the most questions — study them first. And yield per page varies a lot: the geography sheet is three pages but supplies about 8% of questions, while “Denmark and the world” is eight pages and supplies about 2%. History has become more frequent in recent papers (about 20% in 2024–26 against 9% in 2016–19). That is our reading of the papers, not an official weighting.
