MDU does not publish a B.Ed "cut-off". What it does publish is the full overall merit list for each programme — every applicant, their category and their merit score, in rank order. For 2026 the three B.Ed lists went up on 19 and 20 September. We counted every row: 1,845 applicants in Group-I, 4,476 in Group-II and 479 in Special Education — 6,800 in all. This guide turns those lists into score bands, shows the score at fixed positions, compares applicants with seats, and gives you a tool to see where a score would have sat. We print no names or rows; everything below is an aggregate.

Where other pages get this wrong
MDU publishes no B.Ed cut-off for any college or category. Any "MDU B.Ed cut-off 2026" figure is someone's estimate.
Commonly published instead: Pages print single "cut-off" percentages per college or per category, usually without saying where they came from.
The only official evidence of competition is the merit lists themselves and the allotment lists that follow each round. The score levels here are counted from those lists and labelled as our counts.

Group-II is the crowded list: the bulk of its applicants sit between 55 and 75, and the 60–64.99 band alone holds 1,092 people. A single percentage point in that range moves you past a couple of hundred others. Group-I is smaller and scores higher — its median of 70.11 is well above Group-II's 65.79 — because science and mathematics graduates tend to carry higher aggregates. Special Education is small enough that a few candidates change the picture.

Applicants versus seats
Here is the number that matters most, and it is rarely printed: MDU has more B.Ed seats than applicants. The 90 colleges in the prospectus carry 10,399 B.Ed seats, split half-and-half between the groups — roughly 5,200 each. Group-I drew 1,845 applicants and Group-II 4,476. Special Education drew 479 applicants for 660 seats. On arithmetic alone, almost every eligible applicant can get a seat somewhere. The contest is over which seat: the aided colleges, the ones near home, the girls-only colleges, and the All India Open seats if you are from outside Haryana.

Seats from Appendix W of the prospectus (our sums); round-1 allotments counted by us from the 26 Sep 2026 list, which also carried 142 M.Ed, 12 M.Ed Special Education and 14 rows we could not classify — 3,684 rows in all.
Why did round 1 place only 1,286 of 1,845 Group-I applicants when seats outnumber them? Because a seat is allotted only in a college you listed. Applicants who named a handful of popular colleges were not placed when those filled. Round 2 and round 3 work down the same lists with the seats left, and group conversion opens in round 2. If you were not allotted in round 1, the fix is in your hands only as far as your submitted choices allow — choices could only be changed until the choice-locking deadline of 3 September.

Our counts from the category, gender and domicile columns. One Group-I gender entry was unreadable, and 11, 19 and 3 category entries did not parse, so some columns do not sum exactly to the list totals.
The striking line is Group-II's 2,315 applicants from other states. Candidates from outside Haryana can only take All India Open Category seats, which are 15% of each college's intake. On our arithmetic that is about 1,560 seats across all 10,399, or roughly 780 per group — and Haryana applicants may take them too. So for an out-of-state Arts or Commerce graduate, the effective competition is far stiffer than "more seats than applicants" suggests. That is our reading of the published shares, not an official statement.

How to check your own row
- Find your application number on the right group's list, not by name.
- Check the score: it should be the higher of your UG and PG aggregate, for the complete degree, not the final year.
- Check the category and domicile columns. A Haryana candidate shown as AIO competes only for open seats.
- The window for discrepancies was 10–14 September 2026; after the reconciled list, a wrong entry is harder to fix. Contact the University with documents at once if yours is wrong.

What is the MDU B.Ed cut-off for 2026?
MDU does not publish one. On the 2026 overall lists, position 1,000 scored 69.11 in Group-I and 72.03 in Group-II (our reading), but a seat depends on category and college choices, not a single cut-off.
How many students applied for MDU B.Ed in 2026?
The three overall merit lists carry 6,800 rows by our count: 1,845 in Group-I, 4,476 in Group-II and 479 in Special Education.
Are there more MDU B.Ed seats than applicants?
Yes, overall: 10,399 B.Ed seats against 6,321 B.Ed Group-I and Group-II applicants in 2026. Popular colleges and All India seats are still competitive.
What score is enough for MDU B.Ed Group-II?
No score guarantees a college. In 2026 the Group-II median was 65.79, and 1,366 applicants scored 70 or more.
Why was I not allotted a seat in round 1?
Seats are allotted only in colleges you listed, in your category. If those filled with higher scorers, you wait for round 2 on 5 October and round 3 on 16 October.
Where are the MDU B.Ed merit lists?
On MDU's Merit Lists page on mdu.ac.in, with one PDF each for Group-I, Group-II, Special Education, M.Ed and M.Ed Special Education.
Why do some rows show a score of 0?
We found 15, 40 and 4 such rows on the three lists. They look like missing entries on a provisional list; if yours is wrong, contact the University with your DMCs.
Is the MDU merit list final?
The posted lists are titled "Provisional Over all Merit List (after reconciling of discrepancy)". They are the lists the counselling used.
Can students from other states get MDU B.Ed?
Yes, in the All India Open Category, which is 15% of each college's seats. Competition for those seats is heavier in Group-II.
