MNS Cut-Off for NEET 2026: What the Army Publishes and What It Does Not

The Army publishes no MNS cut-off. What is official: NEET qualifying marks, the 2026 score bands, 220 seats and about 2,200 shortlisted. What is reported: coaching claims that contradict each other.

Checked 3 October 2026. The 2026 cycle is still running: the screening ran 20 Aug to 5 Sep 2026 and the Army has printed no cut-off in the 2025 or 2026 advertisements. NEET figures are from NTA press releases of 2025 and 2026. NEET 2026 qualifying marks are from a news report. Check joinindianarmy.nic.in for any later list.

Search for "MNS cut off 2026" and you will find a number. Several, in fact: 380, 450, 480, "450-500 expected", and on a sister page "300-400 is safe". None of them comes from the Army. The 2025 and 2026 admission advertisements for the B.Sc (Nursing) course at the six Army Colleges of Nursing do not print a cut-off, a category-wise cut-off, a minimum NEET score for the shortlist, or the weights of the stages. This guide lays out exactly what is published, what is only reported, and what you can do with the official numbers that do exist.

The short answer

The advertisement says the shortlist is made "through NEET (UG) 2026 scores" and that the reference numbers of shortlisted candidates are displayed on the Join Indian Army website. It does not say how high a score you need to be on that list, and it does not say how the shortlist size was chosen. After screening, the final selection is "based on the combined merit of NEET (UG) 2026 scores + ToGIGE score + Psychological Assessment and Interview, subject to medical fitness", with colleges allotted by merit cum choice. The weights of those parts are not printed either.

Question candidates askWhat the 2025 and 2026 advertisements print
Is there an MNS cut-off in the notice? No. Shortlisting is "through NEET (UG) scores"; no minimum score or percentile is given.
Is there a category-wise cut-off?No. The only category rules are that SC/ST candidates must hold a certificate from a competent authority and are exempt from the Rs 200 fee. No OBC or EWS provision is mentioned.
What weight does NEET carry against ToGIGE and the interview? Not printed. Final merit is the "combined merit" of NEET score, ToGIGE score, and Psychological Assessment and Interview.
Is there a cut-off in the ToGIGE or the interview? Not printed. The ToGIGE is 40 questions of 2 marks each (80 marks) with 0.5 deducted per wrong answer, in 30 minutes.
Does the Army publish the selected candidates' marks? It publishes "the list of selected candidates" on the portal. We found no document with marks, ranks or a closing score.

What counts as "qualified NEET"

Both advertisements require you to qualify NEET (UG) of the same year. "Qualify" has an official meaning from NTA, and it is a low bar compared with anything a military shortlist is likely to use. The Information Bulletin sets the qualifying marks at the 50th percentile for the Unreserved and General-EWS categories, the 40th percentile for SC, ST and OBC-NCL, and the 45th percentile for Unreserved and EWS candidates with benchmark disabilities. The marks those percentiles translate to move every year with the paper.

The ranges read "highest mark to the qualifying mark". The qualifying mark is the second figure. It is the NEET qualifying cut-off, not an MNS cut-off: qualifying NEET only makes you eligible to register on the Army portal.

What happened in NEET (UG) 2026, in official numbers

The 2026 cycle is unusual, and it matters for every score you will see quoted. NTA cancelled the NEET (UG) examination held on 3 May 2026 (press release of 12 May 2026) and held a re-examination on 21 June 2026 (public notice of 15 May 2026). The result came on 16 July 2026. NTA's press release gives these figures: close to 20 lakh candidates appeared at 5,440 centres; 11.21 lakh qualified; more than 58 per cent of those who qualified are women; 19 candidates scored above 700 out of 720; 1,492 scored 650 and above; 10,160 scored 600 and above; and 90,780 scored 500 and above. The highest score was 715.

NTA reports cumulative counts (500 and above 90,780; 600 and above 10,160; 650 and above 1,492; above 700, 19). The bands are our subtraction. Bars are to scale, which is why the top band is hardly visible.

The funnel: from NEET to a seat

The only way to see how selective the Army route is, without a cut-off, is to line up the counts that are published. They come from different sources and different groups of people, so treat the ratios as orientation rather than odds.

The cut-offs you will find online, and why they are not facts

Coaching-academy pages publish year-wise MNS "cut-offs". We read the two that rank highest and put them side by side. Neither names a source document, and the same academy gives two different answers to the same question.

Where other pages get this wrong

A single "MNS cut-off" does not exist as a published number.

Commonly published instead: A year-wise list such as 380, 450 and 480, presented as the cut-off.

The Army prints no cut-off, and the shortlist and final merit use a combined score whose weights are not published. A number on a coaching page is, at best, someone's memory of one candidate's score or a guess. Treat it as a rumour you can compare against the official score bands above, not as a target.

One check you can make with the official bands: NTA counts 90,780 candidates, of every gender, at 500 marks and above in 2026. The Army's shortlist was about 2,200 names, roughly 10 per seat. A list of that size is consistent with a list cut by size among those who registered rather than by a mark announced in advance, but that is our inference and the Army has not said so. It is one more reason not to treat any single score as "the cut-off".

How to use the official numbers

A practical reading, in order of how sure we are

  • Sure: you must qualify NEET (UG) of the cycle, you must register on the portal after the result, and the shortlist is made from NEET scores. A higher NEET score cannot hurt: it is the first filter and one of the scored parts of final merit.
  • Sure: the ToGIGE is only 80 marks over 40 questions with negative marking, and the Psychological Assessment and Interview carry weight too. A candidate who treats the NEET score as the whole selection is ignoring the other scored parts. The ToGIGE and interview are covered in the selection-process guide.
  • Not known: the NEET score at which you are shortlisted, the closing NEET score of the selected, and any category adjustment. Anyone who gives you these as facts is not quoting the Army.
  • Practical: register in the first days of the window, keep every original document ready, and prepare the ToGIGE and interview as seriously as you prepared NEET.

Our reading of the 2026 advertisement. It is not a prediction of any cut-off.

Two features of this route keep it separate from the civilian B.Sc Nursing counselling you may be comparing it with. First, the Army pool is women only, and the notice sets a first-attempt rule for 10+2 and a marital-status rule, so the field is not "all NEET candidates". Second, seats are fixed at 220 across six colleges, so the number of candidates matters more than the mark. The seat guide lists each college and its university.

Practise it, don't just read it

A NEET score is fixed by the time you register for MNS. The ToGIGE English and the interview are still ahead of you, and quizzes are the cheapest way to prepare the English part.

The ProSyllabus MNS library has 10 live topic quizzes: Human Physiology and Body Systems, Genetics and Heredity, Plant Kingdom and Photosynthesis, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Acids, Bases and Salts, Light, Optics and Reflection, English Vocabulary, Synonyms and Antonyms, two on Reading Comprehension Passages and one on Percentage and Profit Loss. They cover NEET-level science and the English side of the ToGIGE; there is no General Intelligence reasoning quiz in the library yet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MNS cut-off for NEET 2026?

The Army has not published one. The 2026 advertisement says shortlisting is done through NEET (UG) 2026 scores and does not give a minimum. Any number you see online is a coaching-site claim without a source.

Is there a category-wise MNS cut-off?

Not in the advertisements. The notice mentions SC/ST only for the certificate requirement and the fee exemption; it prints no cut-off or seat split by category.

What NEET marks do I need to qualify for MNS registration?

You must qualify NEET (UG) 2026, which NTA defines by percentile: 50th for Unreserved and EWS, 40th for SC, ST and OBC-NCL, 45th for Unreserved and EWS with benchmark disabilities. For 2026 the qualifying marks are reported as 213 for Unreserved and EWS and 177 for OBC, SC and ST.

Is 450 marks enough for MNS?

Nobody outside the Army can say. A 450 figure appears on a coaching page with no source. NTA reports 90,780 candidates at 500 and above in 2026, but the shortlist was only about 2,200 names, so the threshold is not a simple score line.

How many candidates were shortlisted for MNS in 2026?

The Army's list covers 13 screening days from 20 August to 5 September 2026 and holds about 2,200 reference numbers: we read 2,172 by OCR and one academy reports 2,208. It is about 10 shortlisted per seat.

Does the Army publish the MNS merit list with marks?

It publishes the list of selected candidates on joinindianarmy.nic.in. We found no Army document that prints marks, ranks or a closing score, so no official cut-off can be derived.

Is the NEET qualifying cut-off the same as the MNS cut-off?

No. The NEET qualifying cut-off only makes you eligible to register. The Army then shortlists from the registered candidates by NEET score and applies its own stages.

Why was the NEET 2026 qualifying cut-off higher than in 2025?

NEET (UG) 2026 was a re-examination held on 21 June 2026; NTA had cancelled the 3 May exam on 12 May. The reported Unreserved qualifying mark rose from 144 in 2025 to 213; the percentile rule did not change.

Can OBC or EWS candidates apply for MNS?

The advertisement does not mention OBC or EWS at all. Eligibility is by sex, marital status, nationality, birth date, 10+2 subjects and marks, height, medical fitness and a qualified NEET score. Check the portal for any category instruction.

Is there negative marking in the MNS ToGIGE?

Yes. Each wrong answer costs 0.5 mark; a correct answer earns 2. The test is 40 questions, 80 marks, 30 minutes.
