Checked 28 September 2026. From Veeva's 2026 Certification Program and Policy Guide, its certification FAQ and the Education Services FAQ. Eligibility rules change rarely, but Veeva can revise the guide at any time.
Before you spend a rupee on a "Veeva Vault certification course", check one rule that some training adverts in India leave out: Veeva's certification program is open only to Veeva customers, Veeva services partners, Veeva technology partners and Veeva employees, and Veeva checks this through "an official email address associated with the domain of the candidate's direct employer". A separate FAQ answer adds independent consultants working for a Veeva customer, when the customer provides the training contract and payment directly and a customer-domain email. There is no published route for a student, a fresher without a Veeva-linked employer, or someone paying for themselves from a personal Gmail account. This guide explains who qualifies, what the rule means for common situations in India, and what to do instead if you are not yet eligible.

Can you sit a Veeva certification exam? Check in 20 seconds
Answer three questions. The checker applies the eligibility rules in Veeva's 2026 Certification Program and Policy Guide and its certification FAQ.
Our reading of Veeva's published rules, not a Veeva decision. Veeva verifies eligibility itself; when unsure, ask training@veeva.com before paying — Veeva's maintenance-fee page, for one, says no refunds are provided.
The rule, word for word
| Rule | What Veeva says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Who the program is open to | Veeva Customers, Veeva Services Partners, Veeva Technology Partners, Veeva Employees | Program and Policy Guide 2026, p.6 |
| How eligibility is checked | An official email address associated with the domain of the candidate's direct employer | Program and Policy Guide 2026, p.6 |
| Who is barred | Persons banned from the program cannot sit any exam | Program and Policy Guide 2026, p.6 |
| Who can take Veeva training | Veeva customers, Veeva partners and employees; others are told to write to training@veeva.com | Education Services FAQ |
| Personal email | Training accounts cannot be updated to personal email addresses | Certification FAQ |
| Independent consultant | Eligible if the training contract, agreement and payment come directly from the Veeva customer, with a customer-domain email | Certification FAQ |
| Between jobs | One-year interim waiver for people previously employed by Veeva, a customer or a partner who already hold a credential | Certification FAQ |
Everything in this table is Veeva's own wording or a close paraphrase. Beyond the four groups and the customer-paid consultant, Veeva's certification pages publish no route; for training, its FAQ only says to write to training@veeva.com.
Where other pages get this wrong
Third-party "Veeva Vault training" does not make you eligible for a Veeva certification exam.
Commonly published instead: "Upon successful completion of the Veeva Vault platform training one can easily go for the certification exam" (a training institute's page), and course adverts aimed at freshers.
Veeva admits only customers, partners and its own employees, checked by employer email domain. A course certificate from an institute is not a Veeva credential and does not change your eligibility. Veeva's own honour policy also bars preparing with material from sites that sell exam questions.
What each situation in India means
| Your situation | Can you sit? | How |
|---|---|---|
| Engineer or consultant at an IT services firm that is a Veeva services partner | Yes | Register with your company email; your firm may buy the exam or a training seat |
| Employee of a pharma or biotech company that runs Veeva Vault | Yes | Company email; Administrator exams can be bought exam-only |
| Employee of a software firm in Veeva's technology partner program | Yes | Company email |
| Independent consultant contracted and paid by a Veeva customer | Yes, on conditions | Customer pays for the training directly and gives you a customer-domain email |
| Contractor placed at a customer through an agency | Unclear | Veeva's rule speaks of the customer contracting and paying directly — ask Veeva before paying |
| Student, fresher or job-seeker with no Veeva-linked employer | No | Join a partner or customer first |
| Laid off, already holding an active Veeva credential | Keep it, yes | One-year interim waiver after a Training Confidentiality Agreement |
| Moved to a new employer | Yes, if the new employer is eligible | Email training@veeva.com with your old work address to move the account |
Our reading of Veeva's published rules. The partner and customer lists themselves are Veeva's; whether a particular company is on them is a question for that company or for Veeva.
Why Veeva restricts it
Veeva describes its credentials as "a personal achievement, held by individuals, not companies", and its exam guides say many topics "are best learned through hands-on experience administering Veeva Vault Platform environments". The Vault Platform Administrator exam, for example, is aimed at candidates with 3–6 months of hands-on experience, and the Vault CRM Administrator exam at 6–12 months. That experience is normally gained through hands-on work in a real Vault — at a customer, a partner, Veeva itself, or as a customer-paid consultant. The eligibility rule and the experience expectation point the same way: you get the job first and the certificate second.
The rule is also enforced through the plumbing. Exams are delivered through the Veeva Training Portal, accounts sit on work email addresses, and Veeva says plainly that it "cannot update training accounts to personal email addresses". The Certification Maintenance Fee page adds that it is "your responsibility to ensure eligibility for credentialing" and that "no refunds are provided" — so paying first and asking later is the expensive order.
Two routes to an exam once you are eligible
| Route | For | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Bundled with training | Associate exams: Vault CRM Associate with Discover Vault CRM, Veeva Quality Associate with Discover Veeva Quality | One complimentary exam attempt on completing the matching course |
| Standalone purchase | Selected Administrator exams (and the two specialty exams on sale) | The exam alone, $300 per attempt, no course needed |
| Exam | Recommended hands-on experience (exam guide) |
|---|---|
| Vault Platform Administrator | 3–6 months with Vault Platform |
| Vault CRM Administrator | 6–12 months with Vault CRM |
| Vault CRM Associate | Discover Vault CRM course (required) and 1–3 months of use on the product page; the guide words them as alternatives |
From the Program and Policy Guide 2026, p.6, and Veeva's certification page (28 September 2026). Associate exams are not sold on their own: the Vault CRM Associate exam comes with Discover Vault CRM and the Veeva Quality Associate exam with Discover Veeva Quality.
Training is not a prerequisite for the Administrator exams: Veeva's guide says "While training is recommended before attempting an Administrator exam, it is not required. Individuals will have an exam only option for a fee." That is the cheapest eligible route — $300 for the Vault Platform Administrator exam — and it suits someone who already administers a Vault day to day. The costs guide in this series compares it with the $4,750 Vault Platform Technical Foundations course.
If you are not eligible yet: a realistic plan
What you can do without Veeva's program
- Learn the concepts that every Vault Administrator exam objective rests on: relational data, document management, lifecycles and workflows, role-based security. Veeva's own course lists "a conceptual understanding of relational databases, document concepts" as its prerequisite.
- Read Veeva's public documentation: Vault Help and the release notes are open to anyone and are named in the exam guide as resources.
- Target employers that are Veeva services partners or life-sciences companies running Vault — that job is what makes you eligible.
- Be wary of any course that promises "Veeva certification" to freshers: it can sell you training, not a Veeva credential.
- Once employed, ask your manager whether the company buys exam vouchers or training seats — Veeva sells them to customers and partners.
Our suggestions, based on Veeva's published eligibility and exam guides.
Special cases: leave, job change and the interim waiver
| Case | Veeva rule |
|---|---|
| Maternity, paternity or extended leave, under 12 months since your last exam | Complete missed maintenance exam(s) within 90 days of the leave end date; $300 maintenance fee if not paid for the year |
| Leave, more than 12 months since your last exam | Retake the credential exam; contact certifications@veeva.com |
| Unemployed, previously at Veeva, a customer or a partner, holding a credential | One-year interim waiver after a Training Confidentiality Agreement; proof of eligibility needed when it ends |
| Changing employer | Email training@veeva.com with your previous work address; no move to personal email |
From the Program and Policy Guide 2026 (leave of absence reinstatement, p.12–13) and the certification FAQ. For leave, the request comes from your employer's HR official, with leave dates, by email to certifications@veeva.com.
Read the interim waiver carefully. It protects an existing credential for a year while you look for work; it is not a way for a job-seeker to sit a new exam. At the end of the year you must show eligibility again to keep the credential in later years.
Which exam should an eligible beginner start with?
For most people in India who work on Vault projects at a services partner, the Vault Platform Administrator exam is the natural first credential: it covers the platform every Vault application is built on, it can be bought exam-only, and Veeva says it is not a prerequisite for, nor requires, any Associate credential. Business analysts on CRM or Quality projects may prefer the Associate exam that comes with their Discover course. The comparison guide in this series walks through the choice; the syllabus guide breaks down the six Vault Platform Administrator domains.
Practise it, don't just read it
Eligible and booking the Vault Platform Administrator exam? Short topic quizzes are a quick way to find weak domains before you pay $300.
The ProSyllabus Veeva Vault library has 13 quizzes of 10 questions, all for the Vault Platform Administrator exam: objects and fields, object relationships and data integrity, document types, UI, layouts and search, users, groups and security profiles, the security model and e-signatures, applying the security model, document lifecycles, object lifecycles and workflows, lifecycle states and actions, reports and dashboards, configuration migration, and data loading and troubleshooting. They are written from public Vault documentation and are not Veeva exam items. There are no Vault CRM, EDC, DQS or Quality quizzes yet.
Can a fresher get Veeva Vault certified?
Not on Veeva's published rules. The program is open to Veeva customers, services partners, technology partners and employees, verified by the direct employer's email domain. A fresher needs a job with such an employer first.
Can I take the Veeva exam with a Gmail address?
No. Eligibility is verified through your direct employer's email domain, and Veeva says it cannot update training accounts to personal email addresses.
Does a Veeva course from a training institute make me eligible?
No. Third-party training is not a Veeva credential and does not change who may sit the exam.
I am an independent consultant. Can I certify?
Yes, if the Veeva customer provides the training contract, agreement and payment directly and gives you an email on its domain.
I lost my job. Will my Veeva credential lapse?
Veeva grants a one-year interim waiver to unemployed people who previously worked for Veeva, a customer or a partner, after a Training Confidentiality Agreement, with proof of eligibility needed when it ends. You still renew each credential on time, except the legacy Certified Veeva CRM Administrator, which is valid to 31 December 2029 with no maintenance exams.
Do I need training before the Vault Platform Administrator exam?
No. Training is recommended but not required for Administrator exams, which can be bought exam-only for $300.
Do Associate exams need training?
Yes. The Vault CRM Associate and Veeva Quality Associate exams require the matching Discover course, which includes one exam attempt.
How do I move my Veeva account to a new employer?
Email training@veeva.com and include your previous employer email address for verification. Accounts cannot move to personal addresses.
Is there a refund if I pay and turn out not to be eligible?
For the maintenance fee, Veeva's page says no refunds are provided and that checking eligibility is your responsibility. For exams and courses, read the purchase terms at checkout, and confirm eligibility before paying.
Who do I ask if I am not sure?
Veeva lists training@veeva.com for training and portal questions and certifications@veeva.com for program questions.
