Checked 6 October 2026. The June 2026 result was declared on 9 and 10 September 2026 and certificates were issued on 25 September 2026. NTA has not announced a result date for the December 2026 cycle; the notices of every cycle say the result date "will be intimated later".
A CSIR NET result is three documents on three dates, and the middle one, from CSIR-HRDG, is the one that carries the ranks and the cut-offs. For June 2026 NTA declared the scores on 29 August 2026, CSIR-HRDG published the result list with ranks and the cut-off sheet on 9 September 2026 (the NTA notice about it is dated 10 September), and NTA issued certificates on 25 September 2026. The exam had been held on 17 and 18 July 2026 for 1,87,739 registered candidates, of whom 1,50,057 appeared. Every date and number here is from a notice or sheet we opened; the day gaps are our subtraction.

The three steps, cycle by cycle
Each of the last six cycles followed the same order. NTA first displays provisional answer keys and recorded responses for challenges, then declares scores. CSIR-HRDG then posts the result list and the cut-off sheet. NTA issues certificates last.

The wait from the last exam day to the CSIR-HRDG result ranged from 38 days (June 2025) to 79 days (June 2024) in these six cycles. The gap between NTA's scores and CSIR's result was 11 days in June 2026 and 32 days in June 2024.
The result date pattern, 2015 to 2026
The CSIR-HRDG cut-off sheets print the date of declaration. Set against the exam dates in the same sheets and in the CSIR-HRDG question-paper indexes, they give the wait for every cycle where both dates are printed. The June 2021 cycle (exam from 29 January 2022) prints no declaration date, so it is left out.

Median across all 19 cycles in the table: 67 days. Shortest: 27 days (Dec 2019). Longest: 165 days (Jun 2017).
Across the 19 cycles the median wait is 67 days. The six NTA-era cycles since December 2023 sit between 38 and 79 days. A past gap is not a promise: the bulletin says only that the result is declared "on the basis of final answer keys", and the registration notice of June 2026 lists the result date as "will be intimated later on website". NTA's tentative calendar of 16 September 2026 lists the December-cycle CSIR NET for 20 and 21 December 2026 and gives no result date.
How to check your CSIR NET result
Steps, from the official notices
- Open the NTA Joint CSIR-UGC NET site, csirnet.nta.nic.in. For June 2026 the home page carries "Result and Rank of the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026" and "Release of Scores".
- Log in. The notices for December 2023, the June 2024 cycle and December 2024 say candidates log in "using their application number and date of birth". The June 2026 notices say only "login" and "view/download/print their Score Card", so use the credentials the site asks for.
- Download the score card. Under bulletin section 3.7 it carries "total percentile score and marks".
- For the roll-number list, open the CSIR-HRDG Current Result page (or the Result Archive) and search the PDF for the roll number on your admit card. The list also states the cut-off sheet's date of declaration.
- Wait for the NTA certificate notice, then download the certificate for your category from the NTA site. The CSIR-HRDG list says no separate intimation letter or notice is issued and that qualified candidates "can download certificates in respective category through NTA website directly".
Nothing here needs a fee. The NTA notices give csirnet@nta.ac.in and the helpline 011-40759000 for difficulty in downloading.
What the score card shows
The bulletin of June 2026 (section 3.7) says the score card is published with a total percentile score and marks. The June 2024 result list adds why: for admission to PhD under Category 2 and Category 3, "the result of NET will be declared percentile along with the marks obtained by a candidate". The cut-off sheets of June 2026 are percentages of marks; the Life Sciences sheets of 2020 to 2024 used a percentile. The score card is therefore the document to compare with the cut-off for your category, and the cut-off guide in this series lists every sheet.
What the result list shows
The result list is a PDF of roll numbers only; no names are printed. The June 2026 list runs to 113 pages. It opens with a note that the roll numbers listed "have been declared successful in the category under which their roll numbers appear" subject to the eligibility criteria of the bulletin. Under Category 1, the JRF lists are split by funder (CSIR, UGC and, in some cycles, an Earth Science list funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences) and, in each, into candidates who are also eligible for Assistant Professor and "JRF only" candidates who are not. Category 2 and Category 3 follow. Categories 1 and 2 print a rank beside each roll number; Category 3 rows carry the roll number with an empty rank column in each of the June 2024 to June 2026 lists we opened.
| Cycle | JRF (CSIR) | Earth Science JRF (MoES) | JRF (UGC) | Category 2 | Category 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jun 2024 | 1,963 + 11 JRF-only | no list | 1,875 | 3,172 | 10,969 |
| Dec 2024 | 2,453 + 24 JRF-only | 25 | 1,875 | 3,814 | 13,104 |
| Jun 2025 | 984 + 9 JRF-only | 25 | 1,866 + 9 JRF-only | 2,886 | 9,232 |
| Dec 2025 | 1,467 + 21 JRF-only | 25 | 1,854 + 21 JRF-only | 2,941 | 8,035 |
| Jun 2026 | 1,413 + 20 JRF-only | no list | 1,856 + 19 JRF-only | 4,167 | 12,552 |
The counts are the "Total Candidates" lines printed on each list. The June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026 lists split the UGC list into a main list and a JRF-only list; the earlier lists print one UGC total. The "no list" cells mean the PDF has no Earth Science (MoES) section.
| Cycle | Category 1 total (ours) | All three categories (ours) | Appeared (NTA) | Qualified as share of appeared (ours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jun 2024 | 3,849 | 17,990 | 1,63,529 | 11.0% |
| Dec 2024 | 4,377 | 21,295 | 1,74,785 | 12.2% |
| Jun 2025 | 2,893 | 15,011 | 1,47,732 | 10.2% |
| Dec 2025 | 3,388 | 14,364 | 1,54,080 | 9.3% |
| Jun 2026 | 3,308 | 20,027 | 1,50,057 | 13.3% |
In June 2026 the three categories together hold 20,027 roll numbers, which is 13.3% of the 1,50,057 who appeared; Category 1 alone is 3,308 (2.2%). These shares are our division of two official numbers.
One more regularity in the printed lists: the UGC JRF total is 1,875 in every one of the six cycles from December 2023 (the tables above start at June 2024). In December 2023, June 2024 and December 2024 the list holds 1,875 names; in June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026 the main list plus the JRF-only list add up to 1,875 (1,866 + 9, 1,854 + 21 and 1,856 + 19). The CSIR list changes from cycle to cycle. The sums are ours; the lists do not state a rule.
Where the official sources disagree, or are silent
| Item | What one source says | What another says | Our reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 2026 result date | CSIR-HRDG cut-off sheet and result list: "date of declaration of result ... is 09/09/2026" | NTA public notice "Declaration of Result and Rank", dated 10.09.2026, says the result and rank "have been uploaded" | A one-day difference: we show 9 September as the date CSIR printed and 10 September as the date of NTA's notice |
| June 2025 result list | The sheet inside says the date of declaration is 4 September 2025 | The file on the CSIR-HRDG archive page carries 8 December 2025 in its file name; NTA's certificate notice is dated 1 December 2025 | We use the printed date; the file name suggests the page was updated later and we have not confirmed why |
| June 2021 cycle (held 29 January to 17 February 2022) | The sheet quotes the exam dates but prints no declaration date | - | Left out of the date-pattern table |
| Appeal note | The June 2024, December 2024 and June 2025 lists say the result is declared subject to the outcome of an appeal (CSIR vs Ramandeep Kaur, LPA 2243/2017, Punjab and Haryana High Court) | The December 2025 and June 2026 lists do not print that note | We report both and do not interpret the legal position |
After the result
The June 2026 list adds that "the fellowship shall be effective from 01st October 2026". For Category 2 and Category 3 candidates, the June 2026 bulletin says the NET marks are valid for PhD admission for one year from the result declaration and that the Assistant Professor certificate has no end period. The bulletin also states that the eligibility for Assistant Professor and for admission to PhD are governed by UGC guidelines, so the university, not CSIR, makes the final admission decision.
Cut-off percentages for every category are in the CSIR NET cut-off guide, and the revision kit for the next cycle is on the kit page.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
When was the CSIR NET June 2026 result declared?
NTA declared the scores on 29 August 2026. The CSIR-HRDG result list and cut-off sheet print 9 September 2026 as the date of declaration, and NTA's public notice about the result and rank is dated 10 September 2026. Certificates followed on 25 September 2026.
When will the CSIR NET December 2026 result come?
No date has been announced. NTA's notices say the result date "will be intimated later". Over the 19 cycles in the table, the wait from the last exam day to CSIR's result had a median of 67 days, and it ranged from 27 to 165. NTA's tentative calendar of 16 September 2026 lists the December-cycle CSIR NET for 20 and 21 December 2026.
Where do I check the CSIR NET result?
The score card is on the NTA site csirnet.nta.nic.in after login. The roll-number result list and the cut-off sheet are PDFs on the CSIR-HRDG site, under Current Result and Result Archive.
What do I need to log in?
The notices for December 2023, the June 2024 cycle and December 2024 say application number and date of birth. The June 2026 notices only say to log in on the NTA site. Use the credentials the login page asks for.
Does the result list show names or marks?
No. It shows roll numbers, with ranks beside Category 1 and Category 2 roll numbers. Your marks and percentile are on your score card.
What are Category 1, 2 and 3?
Category 1: award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor. Category 2: eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD. Category 3: admission to PhD only. The June 2026 bulletin sets this out in a table.
Is there a separate cut-off for each part of the paper?
No. The sheets and the bulletin say there is no separate cut-off for Part A, B and C; the cumulative marks decide the merit list.
