Checked 29 September 2026. Fixed historical data from the CLAT 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 result notices and exam-day press releases, and the 17 May 2025 modification to the CLAT 2025 UG final key. CLAT 2027 figures will appear after 6 December 2026.
The Consortium's exam-day press release for CLAT 2026 counted 92,344 applicants across UG and PG, 17% more than the year before, with 75,009 for the undergraduate paper. This guide collects the official numbers the Consortium published about four sittings — CLAT 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 — and says plainly where a number was not published, or where two official documents disagree. A small tool at the end puts any score on a common scale.

Result notifications of CLAT 2023 to 2026; exam-day press releases of 18 Dec 2022, 3 Dec 2023, 1 Dec 2024 and 7 Dec 2025. CLAT 2024's notices are on the Consortium's archived clat2024 site.
Two official CLAT 2023 attendance figures that do not agree
- The exam-day press release of 18 December 2022 says 93.6% of registered UG candidates and 91.7% of registered PG candidates appeared.
- The result notification says the overall attendance was "approximately 94.87%".
- An overall figure has to lie between the UG and PG figures, so 94.87% cannot follow from 93.6% and 91.7%. Neither document gives the counts behind its percentage, so both are printed and neither is corrected.
Result notifications.
Two things stand out. Almost everyone who applies turns up: UG attendance was above 96% in 2024, 2025 and 2026, which means the applicant count is close to the real field. And women are the majority of candidates who sit the paper — 57% in each of the last three sittings — even though the 2026 press release gave the ratio among applicants as about 0.72 men to every woman. The two figures measure different groups (applicants across UG and PG vs those who sat), so they are printed as the Consortium gave them.

Result notifications, and for CLAT 2025 the 17 May 2025 modification to the UG final answer key, issued after the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court orders. The percentage row is our division of the highest mark by the scoreable total. Every notice gives the time as 120 minutes, or 160 minutes for PwD/SAP candidates entitled to compensatory time.
Our arithmetic on the result notifications. CLAT 2025 uses the December 2024 result (103.5 of 116), the only year it has a published highest mark.
The topper's share of the paper has not moved in one direction since the switch to 120 questions: 91.5% in CLAT 2024, 89.2% in CLAT 2025 (on the December 2024 result) and 94.7% in CLAT 2026. That tells you about the very top of the field, not about the cut-offs — for those, see the closing-ranks guide in this series, and for marks to rank, the rank predictor. It also shows why a raw score needs its year attached: 100 marks meant something different out of 116 than out of 149.
Where other pages get this wrong
CLAT 2025's published highest UG mark was 103.5, out of 116, at the December 2024 result. After the May 2025 modification the paper was evaluated out of 113, and no revised highest mark was published.
Commonly published instead: Rank tables that list a CLAT 2025 score of 108 or more.
The 7 December 2024 result notification gives the highest UG mark as 103.5 out of 116. The 17 May 2025 modification to the final key withdrew seven questions in total, so the UG paper was then evaluated out of 113 — below 108. A 2025 score of 108 or more on either scale is not supported by any Consortium notice.

CLAT 2026 results notification, "Distribution of Score by gender and city (Top 100)", UG table. Cities with 3 and 1 are grouped here; the notice lists each one.
The top 100 wrote the paper in 33 different cities. Bengaluru alone had 15 and the National Capital Region — New Delhi, Greater Noida/Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad — 22 between them (our sum). Men outnumbered women in the top 100 at most of the large centres, even though women were 57% of all candidates who sat. The same notice gives a separate top-100 table for the PG paper, led by New Delhi with 22.

How fast the Consortium publishes
CLAT's timetable after the exam is short and has been stable. In the CLAT 2026 cycle the Consortium published the question booklets and provisional answer keys three days after the exam, closed objections two days later, and released the final key and results nine days after the exam. The CLAT 2025 result notice is dated 7 December 2024, six days after its 1 December exam, though litigation then reopened the UG results until 17 May 2025.

Consortium notifications of 1 and 7 Dec 2024, 17 May 2025, 10 and 16 Dec 2025 and 5 Feb 2026.
For CLAT 2027 the exam is on 6 December 2026. On the 2026 pattern, expect the provisional key in the week after and results before the year ends — but the Consortium announces each date by notification, and the last two cycles both saw court orders change results or counselling after they were published.
The practical lesson from both cycles is to keep your login, registered email and phone number working well past results day. In 2026 the fourth and fifth allotment lists came out in May, five months after the exam, and in 2025 the UG results themselves were republished in May. Refunds of the counselling fee also go only to the account it was paid from, so that account needs to stay open and working until any refund has actually been received, which can be after counselling itself has ended.
What these numbers do not tell you
Read with care
- No marks-versus-rank table is published by the Consortium; ranks come from your own scorecard.
- The Consortium's notices for CLAT 2023, 2024 and 2025 give no applicant totals, so year-on-year growth can only be stated for 2026 (17%, from its own press release).
- The CLAT 2026 result notice says scores were tabulated on "December 14 and 15, 2026" — a typo for 2025, since the notice itself is dated 16 December 2025.
- The 61 non-NLU universities that used CLAT 2023 scores (from that year's result notice) is not a current list.

Put a CLAT score on a common scale
A mock paper or a past paper is scored out of a different total each year, because questions are withdrawn after objections. Enter a UG score and pick the year's scale: the tool gives it as a share of the marks that could be scored that year and as a share of the highest UG mark.
Totals and highest marks from the Consortium's result notifications. CLAT 2025 has two scales: 116 at the December 2024 result, and 113 after the 17 May 2025 modification to the final key; no revised highest mark was published for 113, so that scale gives the share of scoreable marks only. This does not estimate a rank — for that, see the CLAT rank predictor linked at the end of this guide.
For marks to rank, use the CLAT rank predictor; for dates and notices, the CLAT notice board.
Practise it, don't just read it
A top-100 mark is built one passage at a time.
The ProSyllabus CLAT library has three quizzes today: reading-comprehension inference (English), international treaties and summits (current affairs) and constitutional-law principle application (legal reasoning).
