MDU PG Admission 2027: Expected Dates and the Physical Counselling Process

As of 25 September 2026, MDU has published nothing for 2027-28. Its last two cycles give a clear shape: the admission notice in late May or June, applications for about three weeks (with an extension both years), tests in mid-July, results a few days later, then four rounds of physical counselling in the departments at Rohtak from late July to mid-August, and department-level rounds for vacant seats into September. This guide sets out both cycles and how counselling works.

For 2027 the safe assumption is an application window some time between late May and late June and tests in mid-July — but that is a pattern, not an announcement. Watch MDU's admission-notices page and the Samarth admission portal from May. The single application covers a programme at both Rohtak and MDU-CPAS Gurugram, with your preference chosen on the form.

Very little, which is useful for planning. The notice came nearly three weeks earlier in 2026 (22 May against 11 June), and the application window was extended both years — to 30 June in 2025 and to 28 June in 2026. Tests moved two days earlier, from 15–19 July to 13–17 July, in the same three daily sittings. The four counselling rounds, the 26 August marksheet deadline and the 30 August cut-off date stayed the same. The rules — 100 questions, 75 minutes, no negative marking, test score only — did not change at all. The one policy change was the Haryana EWS income limit, raised to ₹8 lakh by a notice of 3 July 2026.

The question booklet and answer key for all four booklet codes go up on MDU's website after each test — the M.A. English key, for example, was posted at 3:42 pm on 17 July 2026. Objections go to the Controller of Examinations, by hand or e-mail, within 24 hours; the prospectus says they are normally resolved within 48 hours, and nothing is entertained after the window. In 2026 revised keys were posted on 18–20 July for seven papers, including the MBA, Computer Science and Life Sciences groups. The result followed on 20 July. Check your answers against the key the same evening: after the objection window there is no re-checking.

Final-semester students are admitted provisionally. In 2025 MDU admitted pending-result candidates on an undertaking, cancelled admissions without the result by 26 August and forfeited the fee, then filled those seats by open counselling on 28 August. The 2026 rule was the same date, stated in a notice of 22 July. If your university is slow, ask it for a provisional result or a certified internet result early, and keep the department informed.

The last day for submitting the qualifying-exam marksheet was 26 August in 2026; after it, provisional admissions without proof were cancelled and the seats declared vacant. If your final result is late, keep in touch with the department — and remember that the September vacant-seat round is a real second chance: in 2026 it offered more than a hundred seats in M.Sc. Mathematics (SFS) alone.
