Checked 29 September 2026. From the WBJEEB counselling portal's 2026 seat matrix (home-state quota), aggregated by us. The 2027 matrix is published before counselling and can add or drop colleges and seats.
The JENPAS(UG) seat matrix is published on WBJEEB's counselling portal just before counselling, as a long table of institutes, programmes and category columns. We added it up. In 2026 JENPAS(UG) filled 13,265 seats in 13 courses at 193 institutes; two-thirds of them were B.Sc Nursing, and four-fifths were in private colleges. Every total below is our sum of the official matrix.

Where other pages get this wrong
JENPAS UG 2026 covered 13 courses: B.Sc Nursing, 11 allied health courses and BHA.

The 2026 seat matrix lists B.Sc Nursing, BPT, BOT, BMLS, BAOTT, BRT, MMB, BPA, BEMT, CSIC, BMRIT, BOPTM and BHA. Nursing alone is in 143 institutes; all courses together are in 193.

The eight largest courses. WBJEEB seat matrix 2026 (our totals).
Course names, as the 2026 matrix spells them: BPT is physiotherapy, BOT occupational therapy, BMLS medical laboratory science, BAOTT anaesthesia and operation theatre technology, BRT respiratory technology, MMB medical microbiology, BPA physician associate, BEMT emergency medical technology, CSIC central sterilisation and infection control, BMRIT medical radiology and imaging technology, BOPTM optometry and BHA hospital administration. Pages that still say "BMLT" are using the 2025 name.
Government seats are few and concentrated: 1,715 nursing seats in 25 colleges, then 753 allied and BHA seats in nine institutions. Optometry and respiratory technology are the only courses where government seats outnumber private ones.

The matrix has no OBC-PwD or ST-PwD seats. One detail changes how to read the private row: every private allied and BHA seat — 3,652 of them — is Open, with no reserved seats. Reservation in private colleges exists only in nursing. In government colleges it applies to every course.

The OBC reservation changed in the middle of the 2026 cycle
The two official documents disagree, and the later one governed counselling. The 2026 bulletin reserves seats for OBC-Category-A (More Backward) and OBC-Category-B (Backward) under the West Bengal notifications of May and June 2025, and it promised separate OBC-A and OBC-B category ranks. On 16.06.2026 — nine days after the exam — notice JEEB/Reg-67/2026 opened a portal (16–19.06.2026) for candidates to declare their OBC class "as appearing in the list notified vide Gazette Notification No. 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18.05.2026", to avail "7% reservation for OBC" — one OBC class, not two. Non-creamy-layer status follows the Backward Classes Welfare memo No. 1037(64)/Secy-BCW/MR-33/2025(Pt.V).
| Document | What it says about OBC |
|---|---|
| JENPAS(UG)-2026 bulletin (23.03.2026) | OBC-A (More Backward) and OBC-B (Backward), under 2025 notifications; separate OBC-A and OBC-B ranks |
| Notice JEEB/Reg-67/2026 (16.06.2026) | One OBC class, 7% reservation, under Gazette No. 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 dated 18.05.2026; declaration portal 16–19.06.2026 |
| NCL memo 1037(64)/Secy-BCW/MR-33/2025(Pt.V) | Dated 29.05.2026 in notice Reg-67; quoted as "Dt. 20-05-26" in counselling notification WBE/EX-49 |
| 2026 seat matrix and 2026 closing-rank report | One OBC column |
| 2025 closing-rank report | Separate OBC-A and OBC-B columns |
We print the conflict rather than resolve it: the bulletin was never corrected, the counselling portal followed the June notice, and the memo's date is given two ways. For 2027, read the new bulletin's reservation clause and the OBC certificate format it asks for before you apply. The 2026 bulletin asked for an OBC non-creamy-layer certificate issued on or after 01.04.2026.
Seat acceptance fee: Rs 5,000 or Rs 1,000?
The 2026 counselling notification, Memo WBE/EX-49 dated 05.08.2026, said a candidate allotted a seat for the first time must pay a "Seat Acceptance Fee of Rs.5,000/-". Seven days later, corrigendum WBE/EX-52 dated 12.08.2026 — the day the Round-1 result came out — called that an "inadvertent error" and fixed the fee at Rs 1,000. The 2024 and 2025 counselling notices also charged Rs 1,000. Pages that copied the original notification still print Rs 5,000.
| 2024 | 2025 | 2026 | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 500 | Rs 500 | Rs 500 | Counselling registration (non-refundable) |
| Rs 1,000 | Rs 1,000 | Rs 5,000 in WBE/EX-49; Rs 1,000 in corrigendum WBE/EX-52 | Seat acceptance fee (first allotment) |
| — | Rs 200 if already registered, Rs 700 if new | No mop-up round | Mop-up registration |
What will change for 2027
Nothing in the 2027 matrix is known yet. The bulletin says the seat matrix "will be declared by the Dept of H&FW, Govt. of W.B." and sent to the Board by WBUHS before counselling, and that private institutions need an Indian Nursing Council suitability certificate. Several private nursing colleges were listed in 2026 with "INC Approval Pending" in their names — including the WBUHS University College of Nursing at Kalyani — so seats can appear or disappear with approvals. Use the 2026 matrix to understand the shape, and re-check the 2027 matrix when it is published.

Practise it, don't just read it
With 13,265 seats and nursing seats reaching rank 25,385 in 2026, the question for many students is which seat, not whether. A better rank widens the choice — the quizzes cover every Paper-I section.
The ProSyllabus JENPAS-UG library has five topic quizzes of ten questions each: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany), Biology (Zoology) and Basic English and Health Aptitude. Every question comes with an explanation.
