What do I get?

125 multiple-choice questions with four options each and a written explanation for every answer. Each part is a timed test at the practice test's length in the full test player (question palette, mark for review, a clock). When you submit you see your score, the reasoning for every answer and a written report on your weak spots. Retake any part as often as you like.

Are these the real FSOT questions?

No. Live FSOT questions are not published. These are original questions written to the content the State Department's practice-test instructions list for each part, and to the practice test's lengths. They are not taken from the official practice test, which is free on careers.state.gov and worth sitting as well.

What does each part cover?

Job Knowledge: US government, history and society; world history and geography; economics; math and statistics. English: grammar, usage, punctuation, clarity and organization, plus reading passages with questions. Logical Reasoning: making inferences, justifying conclusions, finding logical flaws and identifying assumptions.

Is there a passing score?

No. The State Department says the FSOT no longer has a passing score, so this test reports how many you got right in each part and each skill and does not label any mark a pass.

Who checked the answers?

We wrote each question and its key. Every question was then answered again, independently and without the key; a question went into the test only when those answers matched ours and nobody raised an objection to the wording or the facts.

How do I pay and get access?

In the United States the price is charged in US dollars; in other countries in your own currency where we support it, otherwise in Indian rupees with the local figure shown as an estimate.
