Symbiosis MBA Selection 2027: GE-PI, Merit Weights and Cut-offs

Checked 30 September 2026. Medium: the shortlisting rule and 50/10/40 weights are in the SNAP 2026 bulletin; institute-specific weights, GE-PI dates and the reported percentile ranges come from last cycle's prospectus and coaching sites and change every year.

SNAP does not admit you to anything by itself. It gets you shortlisted, programme by programme, on your overall SNAP percentile; the admission is decided on a 100-mark merit score in which SNAP carries 50, a Group Exercise 10 and a Personal Interaction 40. Seventeen Symbiosis institutes use SNAP for 32 MBA programmes in six cities. Each programme sets its own shortlist cut-off, and SIU publishes no percentile cut-off for any of them. This guide explains the route from score to seat, lists the programmes and their extra eligibility rules, and prints the reported cut-off ranges with their source. ProSyllabus is an independent study site. It is not part of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), the Symbiosis Test Secretariat that conducts SNAP, or any Symbiosis institute. Every rule here is quoted or summarised from snaptest.org, the SNAP 2026 bulletin or an institute's own published document, and those documents decide every case.

Where other pages get this wrong

SIU publishes no SNAP percentile cut-off. Institutes post category-wise merit and wait-list cut-offs, and each programme computes its own shortlist cut-off.

Commonly published instead: Coaching pages print figures such as "SIBM Pune cut-off 97-98.5+" or "SCMHRD 96+" as if they were official, and older pages (ours included) count 16 institutes and 29 programmes.

The bulletin says shortlisting is "based on her/his overall SNAP Percentile" and that "the cut-off for shortlisting is also calculated separately for each programme". It publishes no number. The SNAP 2026 bulletin and home page count 17 institutes and 32 programmes.

From SNAP score to admission: the four steps

StepWhat happensWho decides
1. RegisterPay the SNAP fee and a ₹1,000 programme fee for each programme, before that programme's closing dateYou
2. ShortlistEach programme shortlists for GE-PI on your overall SNAP percentile against its own cut-offEach programme
3. GE-PIGroup Exercise and Personal Interaction, one process for each programme you are shortlisted for; you must attend every componentEach institute
4. Merit listSNAP (out of 60 scaled to 50) + GE 10 + PI 40 = 100; category-wise merit and wait lists on the institute's websiteEach institute

Two rules in the bulletin decide more cases than any cut-off. First, the shortlist uses your overall SNAP percentile, not sectional scores, and you can be shortlisted for several programmes; you then attend a GE-PI for each one separately. Second, attendance is absolute: "The candidate who remains absent for any one of the components/tests will be considered as ineligible for the Admission process of any of the Master of Business Administrations (M.B.A.) programmes of SIU." That sentence reads as covering every SIU MBA, not only the programme whose GE-PI you missed.

The official process is GE-PI. The Symbiosis documents we checked do not mention a written-ability test for SNAP-based MBA admission. SIIB expands GE as Group Evaluation; the other institutes call it Group Exercise.

The merit score, and one institute that weighs it differently

SCIT (prospectus)501040, including academic consistency (10th, 12th, graduation)None100
SIBM Hyderabad (prospectus)501030Institute-specific parameters 10100

The bulletin states 50/10/40 as the SIU rule; the last prospectus shows SIBM Hyderabad using 50/10/30 plus 10 for institute-specific parameters. Both are official documents. Check the institute's own admission page for the weights it will use in 2027, and treat the Hyderabad split as last cycle's until it confirms.

Symbiosis merit-score calculator (published weights)

After GE-PI, SIU ranks candidates on 100 marks: the SNAP score out of 60 scaled to 50, Group Exercise out of 10 and Personal Interaction out of 40. SIBM Hyderabad publishes a different split: PI 30 and 10 marks for institute-specific parameters. Choose the scheme and enter your marks.

Our arithmetic on the published weights. SIU does not print how GE, PI or institute parameters are marked, or how a negative SNAP score is scaled; we scale net × 5/6 and floor it at zero. Category-wise merit and wait-list cut-offs are posted by each institute; no mark here predicts one.

What the arithmetic shows: SNAP is half the merit score, so a high percentile gets you into the room and still counts inside it, but half the marks are earned after the shortlist. Converting 60 to 50 compresses the gaps: two candidates six raw marks apart are five merit marks apart, the same as a five-mark difference in PI. The 5/6 conversion is our arithmetic; the bulletin says only "scaled down to 50 marks".

That is 32 programmes across 17 institutes (our count of the bulletin list). One naming conflict: the 2026 bulletin calls SICSR's second MBA "Technology Management", while the last prospectus called it "Digital Transformation". We follow the 2026 bulletin; the seats and fee we have are from the prospectus under the older name.

Final-year students are a point of conflict. The 2026 bulletin mentions final-year candidates only once, under the SIOM dual degree with Durham, where it says they "can also apply, but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks". The official blog on taking a job or an MBA after graduation says students planning for 2027-28 "can prepare for SNAP 2026, but they must check the exact eligibility of every selected programme". Older bulletins printed the final-year clause under many programmes. Our own exam record states "Final-year students may apply" as a general rule, which the 2026 bulletin does not say. If you are in your final year, check the eligibility line of each programme you pay for.

Cut-offs: what exists, and what is only reported

SIU publishes no percentile cut-off for any programme, and no score-to-percentile table. What exists officially is a statement that each programme computes its own shortlist cut-off and that institutes post category-wise merit and wait-list cut-offs on their own websites after GE-PI. Coaching sites publish percentile ranges. The table below is one such set, reported by Careers360 and labelled there as the 2025 actual figures; its 2026 figures are labelled "expected" and are not reproduced.

InstituteReported percentile rangeYearStatus
SIBM Pune97-98.52025Reported by Careers360, not an SIU figure

SICSR Pune82-842023Reported by Careers360, not an SIU figure
SIMS Pune77-802023Reported by Careers360, not an SIU figure

Use these only as a sense of the order of demand. They do not say which programme, category or stage (shortlist or final) they describe, other coaching pages print different figures, and a shortlist cut-off is by the bulletin's own wording set programme by programme each year. No rule on this page depends on them.

All from the SIU PG Prospectus 2026-27, which marks them tentative. SCIT's shortlist date is printed as 22 January 2025 in a schedule for the 2026 intake; 22 January 2026 was a Thursday, the weekday the prospectus gives, so we read it as a typo. The 2027 calendar is not published.

Practise it, don't just read it

Half the merit score is SNAP. Reading and reasoning are where the live quizzes can help now.

Two SNAP quizzes are live on ProSyllabus today, 10 questions each: Reading Comprehension Inference Fundamentals and Critical Reasoning Assumptions Advanced Challenge. They cover General English and reasoning. There is no quiz yet for Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency or for the new Ethics, Morality and Values section.

Frequently asked questions

How does Symbiosis select MBA students through SNAP?

Each programme shortlists on the overall SNAP percentile against its own cut-off. Shortlisted candidates take a Group Exercise and Personal Interaction, and the merit list uses SNAP (scaled to 50), GE 10 and PI 40.

What is the SNAP cut-off for SIBM Pune?

SIU does not publish one. Careers360 reports a 2025 range of 97-98.5 percentile; that is a coaching-site figure, not an official cut-off.

How many institutes accept SNAP 2026?

Seventeen Symbiosis institutes, offering 32 MBA programmes in six cities, according to the SNAP 2026 bulletin and home page.

Is there a WAT in Symbiosis admissions?

The Symbiosis documents we checked describe a Group Exercise and a Personal Interaction (GE-PI) and do not mention a written-ability test.

What happens if I miss one GE-PI component?

The bulletin says a candidate absent from any component is ineligible for the admission process of any SIU MBA programme.

Can final-year students apply for SNAP?

The 2026 bulletin mentions final-year candidates only under the SIOM-Durham dual degree. The official blog says to check the exact eligibility of every programme. Check each programme before paying its fee.

Do foreign nationals take SNAP?

No. Foreign nationals, OCI and PIO candidates apply through SCIE, are exempt from the entrance test and take an English proficiency test.

Are the merit weights the same at every Symbiosis institute?

The bulletin gives 50/10/40. The last prospectus shows SIBM Hyderabad using PI 30 plus 10 marks of institute-specific parameters. Check each institute's page.
