Odisha CPET 2027: Expected Timeline, How to Apply and a Study Plan

What the 2025 and 2026 cycles show about CPET 2027 — application from late February, exam in May — how the SAMS application works, the answer-key objection window, previous papers and a study plan.

Odisha CPET 2027: Expected Timeline, How to Apply and a Study Plan

Checked 25 September 2026. Nothing for 2027 had been announced on 25 September 2026. Every 2027 date here is a pattern from 2025 and 2026, not a forecast.

CPET 2027 has not been announced, but two cycles of official documents show a steady rhythm: applications on the SAMS portal from late February or early March, the exam in the first half of May, answer keys within days, and admission rounds from July or August. If 2027 follows 2026, the application window will open around late February — about five months from now. This guide lays out both cycles, the application steps and a plan.

Where other pages get this wrong

The CPET-2026 application window was 27 February to 22 March 2026, and the exam was held on 5–16 May 2026.

Commonly published instead: "Exam 27 April to 10 May 2026; last date 15 March; each paper 80 minutes."

Those were the original advertisement's dates and the 2025 duration. The HED revised timeline moved the exam, SSB held it from 5 to 16 May 2026, and the last date to apply was extended to 22 March (with editing on 23 March). The 2026 papers were 100 minutes.

HED advertisements (07.03.2025, 25.02.2026), revised timelines, SSB schedules (09.04.2025, 06.04.2026), 2025 and 2026 admission timelines.

Reading this for 2027. The application window and exam barely moved between the two years; what moved was everything after the exam. In 2025 the merit list came in early June and classes began on 10 July; in 2026 marks came only in July and classes on 21 August. So a CPET-2027 candidate can plan confidently on a late-February application and a May exam, but should not plan a July start. In 2024, for comparison, the exam itself was in July.

Days from the application opening to the first allotment
202595 days (10 Mar → 13 Jun)
2026161 days (27 Feb → 7 Aug)

Our count from the official dates.

Why the timeline may slip

Both recent cycles moved after the first advertisement. In 2026 the exam window shifted from 27 April–10 May to 5–16 May, the application deadline was extended by a week, and the Phase-I reporting deadline was pushed back for floods. In 2024 the exam was held in July, and papers of 8 July were moved to 15 July after the day was declared a holiday. So plan preparation to an early-May exam, but keep an eye on the SAMS and SSB sites for revisions right up to the admit card.

How to apply

  1. Open the SAMS P.G. portal (pg.samsodisha.gov.in) and fill the Common Application Form (CAF): the Common Prospectus makes Aadhaar mandatory and asks for the APAAR ID.
  2. Choose up to 3 entrance subjects and up to 5 P.G. subjects, and an examination zone.
  3. Pay the CAF fee: ₹500 (General) or ₹300 (SC/ST) for the first subject and ₹200 for each extra one; several groups pay nothing. There is no refund.
  4. Use the one editing day if needed — a dearer edit pays the difference, a cheaper one is not refunded.
  5. Download the admit card from the SSB site with your application barcode and date of birth.
  6. After the exam, check the provisional key on the SSB site and object where you are sure, within the three-day window.

Check the SSB timetable before you pay for three subjects: in 2026 papers ran in two sittings a day, and the prospectus says nothing about clashes — if two of your subjects fall in the same sitting you cannot sit both, and we found no provision for a refund or a re-test.

BotanyBotany, Life Science (Botany/Plant Science)

LawLL.M. and its variants

SAMS "List of Entrance Subjects and their corresponding P.G. Course(s)" — 50 subjects, 103 rows in 2026.

This is why choosing entrance subjects is the first real decision: your mark in one entrance subject is your rank for every P.G. course that subject feeds, across all 135 institutions. A Commerce paper, for instance, is the route to M.Com and MFC alike. With up to three entrance subjects, a candidate can cover a second-choice discipline — at ₹200 each after the first — as long as the papers do not fall in the same sitting.

On the day

CPET is offline: you mark an OMR sheet at a district-headquarters centre, keep your test booklet and the candidate copy of the OMR, and may not use a calculator of any kind. PwD candidates get 20 minutes extra per hour and may bring a scribe, one step below their own qualification, arranged by themselves. Two options on one question count as a wrong answer. After the exam, the candidate copy of the OMR is what you check the provisional key against.

A plan

Plan your hours to a target CPET date

Choose your likely exam day and how many hours a week you can study. The planner counts the weeks left from today and splits your total hours across the paper.

The split is our suggestion: CPET has no sections and draws on the CBCS UG model syllabus 2019, so the whole paper is your subject. The previous papers on SAMS are the closest thing to a blueprint, and because wrong answers cost a quarter mark, a share of time goes to reviewing which kinds of question you tend to get wrong. The dates are illustrative targets in May, where the 2025 and 2026 exams fell.
