Checked 1 October 2026. Rules are for CRP PO/MT-XVI only. The 2027 notification, age date and degree deadline are not yet published. One ex-servicemen clause in the XVI PDF appears to print 20.07.2027; the conflict is explained below.
For IBPS PO/MT-XVI, the ordinary age band is 20–30 years on 1 July 2026. The official notice translates that into a date-of-birth window: 2 July 1996 through 1 July 2006, inclusive, before any valid relaxation. A graduate must also have had the final result declared by 21 July 2026 and have documentary proof. “I wrote my final-semester exam before the deadline” is not the same as “my result was declared by the deadline.”

Age window and relaxations
| Category | Upper-age relaxation | Upper age on 1 July 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | None | 30 years |
| SC / ST | 5 years | 35 years |
| OBC, non-creamy layer | 3 years | 33 years |
| PwBD | 10 years | 40 years before any permitted combination |
| Eligible ex-servicemen / ECO / SSCO | 5 years | 35 years before any permitted combination |
These are upper-age relaxations, not additional attempts or guarantees of eligibility. Combinations have specific limits in the notice.
The date-of-birth formulation is safer than a casual calculation of age in completed years. A person born on 1 July 2006 reaches the minimum on the cut-off date; a person born on 2 July 2006 does not. On the older side, 2 July 1996 is included in the ordinary window, while 1 July 1996 is outside it without applicable relaxation. IBPS gives the window explicitly, so applicants should compare their documents to those two dates rather than use a website calculator that may count the endpoint differently.
The notice allows SC/ST/OBC non-creamy-layer relaxation on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining listed relaxation categories, namely PwBD or the qualifying ex-servicemen group. That language is narrower than “add every category you can name.” An OBC candidate who is also PwBD may be able to combine the specified relaxations if all documents and conditions are met; a candidate cannot stack unrelated concessions by assumption. EWS has the ordinary General upper-age limit. The notice’s age table also says the categories and government guidelines may change, so the original certificate terms matter.
The ex-servicemen paragraph has an apparent internal date problem. In the notice PDF downloaded for this guide, its service-release clause refers to one year from the last date of application and then prints “20.07.2027.” Elsewhere the same XVI notice describes a July 2026 application period, later extended on the registration portal to 26 July 2026. We do not silently replace the printed year with a guess. An applicant whose eligibility turns on that clause should obtain clarification from IBPS through its official grievance channel and preserve the response.
Graduation: the result date is the test
| Situation | Reading under notice |
|---|---|
| Degree completed and final result declared by 21 July 2026 | Eligible on qualification, subject to all other rules |
| Final exam written before deadline, result declared afterward | Not covered by the published degree deadline |
| Result published on university site by deadline | Needs original signed proof from appropriate authority showing passing date |
| CGPA or OGPA instead of percentage | Convert under university norms and carry the university conversion certificate |
| Only provisional certificate available | Date shown on it is used to determine passing date |
The minimum educational qualification is a degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. IBPS requires the candidate to possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate showing graduation on the day of registration and to enter the graduation percentage. The notification separately says the final result must have been declared on or before 21 July 2026. This is a documentary rule, not a promise that later results will be accepted if classes or exams finished earlier.
If a university publishes the result online and issues a web-based certificate, the XVI notice requires a proper original document or certificate signed by the appropriate authority and stating the date of passing for verification. A screenshot of a portal can help you trace the announcement but does not replace that requirement. The date appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate is the passing date used by IBPS. Resolve inconsistencies with the university early, because interview or document-verification staff cannot be assumed to accept an informal email or a self-written declaration.
IBPS tells candidates with CGPA or OGPA to convert it to a percentage using the university or institute’s adopted rule and to carry a certificate describing that conversion at interview or document verification. Do not use an internet formula based on a different university. The notice says the percentage is calculated using marks in all subjects in all semesters or years, including honours and additional optional subjects where applicable, over their aggregate maximum. Fractions are ignored for threshold purposes in the examples IBPS prints: 59.99% remains below 60%, and 54.99% remains below 55%. The PO degree requirement itself does not impose one universal minimum percentage; these examples explain the calculation and may affect bank-specific criteria or verification.
Category proof and reservation details
A category entered in an application has to be supported by the prescribed certificate. The notification directs SC, ST, OBC non-creamy-layer, EWS and PwBD candidates to the prescribed formats and requires relevant originals and copies during the interview and any later stage. EWS candidates are told to have a certificate valid for 2026–27 on the basis of financial year 2025–26. A candidate selected on an unreserved merit standard may still need to produce the category certificate corresponding to the original registration. IBPS says failure can make the candidature invalid.
For OBC candidates, the non-creamy-layer status matters; a broad statement that one belongs to an OBC community is not enough. For PwBD candidates, the notice gives categories and certification rules and may specify use of a scribe and compensatory time. Do not infer suitability for every bank role merely from the horizontal vacancy column. The current revised Annexure I labels disability vacancies as “out of which,” meaning they are inside the overall totals. Eligibility and reservation are decided under the notice and participating banks’ verification, not by a vacancy graphic.
Nationality is also a formal eligibility section. Indian citizens are one route, but the notice includes certain subjects of Nepal and Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who came before the stated cut-off with intent to settle permanently, and specified persons of Indian origin who migrated from listed countries, with a Government of India certificate of eligibility required for some routes. If that applies to you, read the exact clause and obtain the certificate rather than assuming that any Indian-issued degree establishes nationality eligibility.
A worked decision path
Take a General-category applicant born on 2 July 1996 whose final degree result was declared on 21 July 2026. Both dates sit exactly on the permitted edges printed in the notice. If the person has the valid mark sheet or equivalent documentary proof when registering and satisfies the other criteria, these two tests are met. Shift the birth date one day earlier, to 1 July 1996, and the ordinary age window fails. Shift the degree declaration one day later, to 22 July 2026, and the qualification deadline fails. Those are our worked comparisons of the official dates, not a personal eligibility determination.
Take a second applicant born earlier than the ordinary window who claims OBC non-creamy-layer relaxation. The age claim depends on both the relaxation and valid category proof in the prescribed form. A third applicant may be PwBD and OBC; the notice permits the specified cumulative combination, but the dates must be checked under the actual categories and certificates, including any government clarification. A simple online checker cannot inspect a certificate or a candidate’s service record. Treat a calculated age as a first filter, then read the rule that creates the concession.
Finally, consider a student who received a semester result by 21 July but whose degree was formally declared later. The notice speaks of the final result and proof of having passed graduation. The candidate needs the university’s official passing-date document to resolve whether the condition was met. A coaching-site assurance that “appearing graduates are allowed” would contradict the published rule unless a later IBPS corrigendum expressly changed it. We found no such degree-date change in the source set checked for this guide.
Planning for the next cycle without inventing 2027 dates
The age and degree dates above belong to PO/MT-XVI. A candidate planning a later recruitment should use them as an illustration of IBPS’s method, not as confirmed 2027 eligibility. The next notice may choose a different reference date or application window. The safe plan is to assemble official identity, category and graduation documents now, then check the next notice’s exact dates when it appears. This avoids the common mistake of moving a 2026 birth window forward by exactly one year and publishing it as if IBPS had done so.
If you already applied for XVI and cleared Prelims, the immediate task is document readiness for Main and then interview. Keep a consistent folder with the submitted application, call letters, original photo ID, degree proof and applicable category certificates. The Main call letter requires authenticated Preliminary documents as well. Interview verification is a later stage, but a discrepancy that was already present at registration cannot be fixed by a new blog interpretation. Where the notice itself is ambiguous, use IBPS’s official grievance route rather than crowd-sourced advice.
What is the IBPS PO age limit in 2026?
For CRP PO/MT-XVI, 20–30 years on 1 July 2026 before applicable relaxation; the ordinary birth window is 2 July 1996 through 1 July 2006 inclusive.
What is the last eligible graduation-result date?
The XVI notice says the final graduation result must have been declared by 21 July 2026.
Can final-year students apply before their results?
The published rule requires graduation and a final result by the specified date, plus valid documentary proof. Merely having sat an exam is insufficient.
How much age relaxation does OBC get?
Three years for OBC non-creamy-layer candidates under the XVI notice, subject to valid documents and its combination rule.
Does EWS get age relaxation?
The XVI notice applies the ordinary General upper-age limit to EWS candidates.
Can OBC and PwBD age relaxations combine?
The notice permits SC/ST/OBC relaxation cumulatively with one of the specified remaining categories, including PwBD, subject to all conditions and certificates.
Is an online university result screenshot enough?
The notice requires proper original signed documentation showing the passing date when a web-based result is used.
