Updates as of September 22, 2026

The WBJEEB JENPAS-UG portal now carries the Round 3 seat allotment result and an Extension Schedule for JENPAS(UG)-2026 counselling, which means the three planned allotment rounds have run and the board has added time to the reporting stage rather than opening a fresh examination. Rank cards for 2026 remain downloadable from the same page while counselling is live.

WBJEEB

JENPAS-UG 2026 was held on Sunday, 7 June 2026 as a single OMR-based common entrance test, after a registration window that the board ran from 24 March to 18 April 2026 with extensions issued through separate notices. The board also published notices on online correction, PwD verification and an OMR response challenge during the cycle.

WBJEEB notices

Results were declared on 24 July 2026, later than the early-July date candidates had expected, with rank cards issued on wbjeeb.nic.in against application number, password and date of birth. Collegedunia reports roughly 52,000 registrations and about 44,000 candidates actually appearing; those participation figures are its own estimate, not a board release.

Collegedunia (reported)

WBJEEB released the counselling schedule on 3 August 2026 and ran Round 1 registration and choice filling from 6 to 10 August, Round 2 from 17 to 19 August and Round 3 from 24 to 25 August, with allotment results on 12, 21 and 27 August respectively. FreeJobAlert sets counselling registration at INR 500, non-refundable.

FreeJobAlert (reported)

The published seat matrix for the 2026 cycle covers 13,265 seats across more than 140 government, autonomous and self-financed institutes in West Bengal, spanning B.Sc Nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical laboratory technology, the allied technology streams and hospital administration. This is the pool the three allotment rounds have been filling since early August.

FreeJobAlert (reported)

No notification for a JENPAS-UG 2027 cycle had appeared on either WBJEEB domain at the time of checking. On the board's recent pattern the next registration window would open in the spring, but nothing about a 2027 date is confirmed and candidates should treat any circulating 2027 calendar as unofficial until the board posts it.

The 115-mark total comes from a split marking scheme rather than a flat one-mark paper: Physics, Chemistry and Biology each carry fifteen one-mark questions plus five two-mark questions, while Basic English and Health Aptitude carry twenty one-mark questions each. One-mark questions attract a quarter-mark penalty for a wrong answer; the two-mark questions carry no negative marking. The paper is offered in English and Bengali.

Every round date above is as reported by FreeJobAlert and Collegedunia from the board's schedule notice; the existence of the Round 3 result and of an extension schedule is visible on the WBJEEB page itself. Because the board has extended the closing stage, the final reporting deadline in force today is the one in the extension notice rather than 30 August.

What this means for your preparation

The mistake that costs the most JENPAS-UG seats is treating the rank card as the finish line. Qualifying is comparatively easy; the reported qualifying bar sits near the fiftieth percentile for General and EWS candidates and near the fortieth for SC, ST and OBC. What decides the outcome is whether a candidate registers separately for e-counselling, locks a long enough choice list, and reports within the narrow window after each allotment.

The paper is not a flat scoring sheet

Because 100 questions carry 115 marks, the fifteen two-mark questions spread five each across Physics, Chemistry and Biology are worth thirty marks on their own, and they carry no negative marking. The eighty-five one-mark questions do carry a quarter-mark penalty. That asymmetry rewards a specific discipline: attempt every two-mark question, since a blind guess there has no downside, and be selective on the one-mark science questions where four wrong answers wipe out a correct one. Basic English and Health Aptitude contribute forty marks between them with no two-mark component, which makes them the cheapest marks in the paper and the ones science-focused candidates most often under-prepare.

Ninety minutes for one hundred questions

The clock, not the difficulty, is the binding constraint. Ninety minutes across a hundred questions leaves roughly fifty-four seconds each, and the Physics and Chemistry two-markers will absorb more than that. The workable sequence is to clear Basic English and Health Aptitude first, since those forty marks are largely recall and comprehension and can be done at well under the average pace, then Biology, then the calculation-heavy Physics and Chemistry blocks. Candidates who begin with Physics routinely lose the twenty English marks to the bell. Practise on OMR sheets rather than on screen, because the 2026 paper remained OMR-based and bubbling errors are a real source of lost marks.

Counselling is a second registration, not an extension

Clearing the exam does not enrol a candidate in counselling. WBJEEB required a fresh registration on the counselling portal, document upload, payment of the counselling fee reported at INR 500, and choice filling with no cap on the number of preferences, followed by locking. Choices could not be changed once locked. In the 2026 cycle each round gave between two and five days for registration and choice filling and only three to five days between allotment and the close of fee payment and reporting. Missing the reporting window forfeits the allotted seat even where the rank would comfortably have held it in the next round.

Read the seat matrix by course, not by college

The 13,265 seats reported for 2026 are spread across more than 140 institutes but are very unevenly distributed by course. B.Sc Nursing, the single INC-regulated programme, draws the bulk of the demand, while the eight NCAHP-regulated allied health courses and the three university-regulated programmes such as B.Sc in Medical Microbiology and Bachelor of Hospital Administration clear at much lower ranks. A candidate whose rank will not reach nursing in a government institute is usually better served by filling allied health choices in strong institutions than by filling only nursing seats and going unallotted through all three rounds.

What to do while the 2027 cycle is unannounced

No 2027 notification had been posted on either WBJEEB domain when this page was checked, so any circulating 2027 calendar is unverified. The stable facts a repeater can work from are structural rather than calendrical: the eligibility floor of 45 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General candidates and 40 per cent for reserved categories, the minimum age of seventeen reckoned on 31 December of the admission year, compulsory English at 10+2, and the domicile requirement that governs state-quota seats. Keep the rank card and the 2026 documents, because the board warns that rank cards cannot be downloaded once counselling closes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

When was the JENPAS UG 2026 result declared and where is the rank card?

The result was released on 24 July 2026, later than the early-July date many candidates had expected, and rank cards are downloaded from the WBJEEB portal using application number, password and date of birth. Collegedunia, which reports the date, also warns that the rank card cannot be retrieved once counselling concludes, so a saved copy matters. The board's own JENPAS-UG page is the place to confirm the download link is still live.

Is JENPAS UG 2026 counselling still open in September 2026?

The WBJEEB page carries the Round 3 seat allotment result together with an Extension Schedule for JENPAS(UG)-2026 counselling. That means the three scheduled allotment rounds have run and the board has added time at the closing stage rather than starting a new round from scratch. The operative deadline is whatever the extension notice states, not the 30 August reporting date reported for Round 3, so read that notice before assuming the process has ended.

How many marks is the JENPAS UG paper and is there negative marking?

The paper has 100 multiple-choice questions worth 115 marks in 90 minutes. Physics, Chemistry and Biology each contribute twenty questions worth twenty-five marks, made up of fifteen one-mark and five two-mark questions. Basic English and Health Aptitude contribute twenty one-mark questions each. One-mark questions carry a penalty of one quarter mark for a wrong answer; the two-mark questions carry no negative marking, so leaving them blank has no advantage.

What is the eligibility for JENPAS UG?

Candidates need 10+2 or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and must be at least seventeen years old as on 31 December of the admission year. The reported minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology is 45 per cent for General candidates and 40 per cent for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates. West Bengal domicile is required for state-quota seats, and all of this is verified at counselling rather than at application.

How many seats and colleges are in the JENPAS UG 2026 counselling?

The seat matrix published for the 2026 cycle covers 13,265 seats across more than 140 institutes, including government medical colleges, autonomous nursing institutes and self-financed colleges affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. Courses range from B.Sc Nursing through physiotherapy, occupational therapy and medical laboratory technology to hospital administration. These figures come from a news report of the board's seat matrix rather than from a board press note.

Has WBJEEB announced JENPAS UG 2027 yet?

No 2027 notification was visible on either wbjeeb.in or wbjeeb.nic.in when this page was checked on 22 September 2026. The 2026 cycle ran with registration from late March to mid-April and the examination on 7 June, but the board has not committed to a comparable 2027 calendar, and it has moved dates within a cycle before. Treat any 2027 date circulating on coaching sites as unverified until the board posts the information bulletin.
