CMAT 2026 Exam Day Strategy: Innovation Section & Time Management Tips
A detailed guide to cracking the CMAT 2026 with section-wise time allocation, NTA dress code rules, and mandatory document checklist.

CMAT is a 3-hour (180 minutes) computer-based test with 100 questions. The lack of sectional time limits means you must be your own invigilator. One wrong turn in the Quant section could starve your other sections of time.
Strategy: Don't overthink. These are mostly factual or logic-based questions. You should aim to finish this and the GK section within 30-35 minutes combined, leaving massive time for Quant and LR.
Toppers usually follow a "Speed First, Accuracy Later" approach:
- General Awareness (15 Mins): 20 Qs. No calculations, purely memory-based.
- Innovation & Entrepreneurship (15 Mins): 20 Qs. High-speed scoring area.
- Language Comprehension (40 Mins): 20 Qs. Includes RC passages and grammar.
- Logical Reasoning (50 Mins): 20 Qs. Focus on arrangements and series.
- Quantitative Techniques (60 Mins): 20 Qs. Calculation-intensive; save for the last.
- CMAT Admit Card: A clear A4 printout with the "Self-Declaration" pre-filled.
- Passport Photo: 2 copies (matching the application) for the attendance sheet.
- Valid ID Proof: Original Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or Passport. (No photocopies).
- Transparent Pen: Only simple transparent ballpoint pens are allowed.
While you're preparing for a corporate career, the exam hall is a "no-frills" zone:
Banned: Shoes/Boots, full-sleeved clothes, hoodies with large pockets, heavy jewelry, metallic belts, and any kind of watch (digital or analog).
Pro Tip: Use the "Mark for Review" feature for lengthy RCs or complex Puzzles. Never spend more than 3 minutes on a single question!
