KUK PG Admission 2027: Expected Dates, Merit Lists and Open Counselling
What the 2025 and 2026 cycles say about KUK's PG admission in 2027 — forms from late May, tests from late June — and how the First, Second and Final Lists, later rounds and open counselling work.

Kurukshetra University has not announced its 2027-28 PG admissions yet — on 25 September 2026 neither its admission-notices page nor the IUMS portal carried a 2027 notice. What it has done twice in a row gives a clear pattern: the Handbook and online form in the last week of May, forms until mid-June (extended by a few days both years), entrance tests from about 21 June to 8 July, and three merit lists in July. Seats still vacant after that are filled through fresh-application rounds and an open counselling in each department, running into September. This guide lays out both cycles and explains each step.

From the Handbooks and notices of both years. In 2025 the first merit list came four days after its scheduled date (displayed 14 July against 10 July), which is a reason to watch the portal rather than rely on the printed schedule.
What that suggests for 2027. If KUK keeps to the same rhythm, expect the 2027 Handbook in the last week of May 2027, a last date around mid-June with a short extension, and tests from about 21 June to 8 July 2027. That is a pattern from two cycles, not an announcement. Two cautions: the HTET or another state test can force a reschedule, as it did in 2026, and the 2027 Handbook may change programmes, seats or fees.
Where other pages get this wrong
KUK's 2026 PG applications ran from 25 May to 15 June (extended to 18 June), and the tests ran from 22 June to 8 July.
Commonly published instead: "Application closed on July 7, 2026" and "KUK PG Entrance Test window July 7 – July 8, 2026"; for LL.B., a last date of "June 21, 2026".
The 2026 Handbook and the extension notice of 15 June 2026 give 18 June as the last date for every PG programme with a test, and the timetable runs from 22 June to 8 July.
How the lists work
From result to seat
- First and Second Lists are displayed on the IUMS portal, category-wise. No letters are sent.
- If your name is on a list, go in person to the department with your originals for document verification, then pay the fee online by the deadline.
- If you are offered a seat and do not pay, you drop out of the later lists. If you pay for a seat in a later list of another programme, the earlier seat is forfeited.
- After the Second List, mark online attendance (₹100). The category-wise Final List is drawn only from those who marked attendance.
- Reservation holds up to the Final List; after it, vacant reserved seats (other than SC) convert to Haryana general and then to All India.
- No programme will be started if fewer than ten students are admitted.

The online attendance step is easy to miss. It is a separate action, with its own ₹100 fee and a two-day window (21–22 July in 2026), and if you skip it you are not considered for the Final List at all, however high your merit.
After the Final List: rounds and open counselling
Seats that remain after the Final List and subsequent lists are offered in fresh-application rounds. In 2026 Round 2 opened the portal again on 7 August for vacant seats, with its own merit lists on 18 and 20 August; Round 3 followed from 25 August with a ₹1,500 late fee. The last step was an open or physical counselling in each department on 7 September 2026, where walk-in candidates could fill the online form on the spot and pay the same day. In 2025 the open counselling of 22 August was announced for 63 programmes, with admission on qualifying-exam marks plus weightage.
From KUK's vacant-seat notices of 7 Aug (Round 2) and 4 Sep 2026 (open counselling). Physics had more vacancies on 4 Sep than on 7 Aug. M.A. English, History, Political Science, Psychology and Economics, MBA, MCA, LL.B., Zoology and Botany were not on the 4 Sep list.
For a candidate who ranked low — or, where the test candidates had run out, one who missed the test — this is the useful fact: in the programmes with more seats than takers, admission stayed open into September, on the terms of each round's notice. For the crowded programmes it did not — they were full by then.
Checklist for the 2027 cycle
Practise it, don't just read it
The weeks between the form and the test are short. Start timed practice before the Handbook comes out.

When will KUK PG admission 2027 start?
Not announced as of 25 Sep 2026. In 2025 and 2026 the Handbook and form came out on 24 and 25 May.
When is the KUK PG entrance exam 2027?
Not announced. The 2025 tests ran 21 Jun – 7 Jul and the 2026 tests 22 Jun – 8 Jul.
What is the last date for the KUK PG form?
In 2026, for the PG programmes with an entrance test, 15 Jun, extended to 18 Jun; M.Tech. and PG Diplomas stayed open to 5 Jul. The 2027 dates will be in the 2027 Handbook.
When is the KUK first merit list?
In 2026 on 13 Jul; the Second List followed on 17 Jul and the Final List on 24 Jul.
What is the KUK online attendance for the Final List?
A separate online step with a ₹100 fee after the Second List (21–22 Jul in 2026); only those who mark it are considered for the Final List.
Is KUK PG counselling online or offline?
Lists are on the portal and documents are verified in person in the department; the last step is an open physical counselling in each department.
Can I get KUK admission after the merit lists?
