The standard-subject vacancies are Computer Science 550, Hindi 424, Science 408, English 395, Social Studies 392 and Maths 381. The miscellaneous group is Music 314, PET Female 299, Art 279, PET Male 173 and Librarian 124. The regional-language group of 223 posts spans Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, Garo, Gujarati, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Mizo, Odiya, Santhali, Telugu and Urdu. The bulletin publishes these subject-wise and category-wise only; no state-wise table exists anywhere in the notification.

One notification, one application window and one pair of examinations serve every post in the EMRS Staff Selection Examination 2025, TGT and PGT alike. The TGT-specific entries are the last two rows: NESTS is publishing Tier-II results subject by subject, and most TGT subjects were still awaiting theirs on 22 September 2026.

Candidates treat EMRS TGT as the easier half of the same examination as PGT. It is a different recruitment sharing a timetable. The eligibility runs through CTET Paper-II rather than a post-graduate degree, the qualifying language test covers three languages instead of two, the pay is a level lower, the age ceiling is five years tighter, and the subject list includes cadres, from Librarian to physical education, that have no PGT equivalent at all.

The bulletin sets three essential conditions for TGT and all three must be met. First, a bachelor's or honours degree with at least 50 per cent in all subjects individually and in aggregate, or a four-year integrated degree from an NCTE institution on the same 50 per cent standard, or a post-graduate degree with at least 55 per cent where the subject was studied at graduation level together with a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. Second, a B.Ed. with at least 50 per cent from an NCTE-recognised institution. Third, a pass in Central Teacher Eligibility Test Paper-II, with the certificate issued on or before the cut-off date, described as essential. Candidates who apply on the strength of a good degree without CTET are ineligible regardless of their score.

Part VI of TGT Tier-I is Language Competency in General English, General Hindi and a regional language, ten marks each for 30 in total, qualifying only with a minimum of 40 per cent in aggregate, that is 12 out of 30. It is not added to merit and it is excluded from the Tier-I score used for shortlisting, but a candidate who misses 12 marks has the scored portion set aside. A regional-language component does not appear in the PGT scheme, where Part VI is 20 marks across English and Hindi. Candidates from a monolingual schooling background, and candidates applying outside their home region, should treat that third block of ten marks as a real hurdle rather than a formality.

TGT Tier-I is 100 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes across five parts: General Awareness 10, Reasoning Ability 15, Knowledge of ICT 15, Teaching Aptitude 30 and Domain Knowledge 30, with one-third of a mark deducted for every wrong answer. The syllabus defines that Domain Knowledge part as experiential activity-based pedagogy with case-study questions, worth 20 marks, and National Education Policy 2020, worth 10. There is no science, no mathematics and no language subject matter anywhere in Tier-I. Sixty of the hundred marks are pedagogy and policy. A subject graduate who has not read NEP-2020 and cannot handle a classroom case study is competing for the remaining forty.

The distribution is lopsided in ways worth knowing before choosing a subject. Computer Science alone carries 550 posts, more than any other post in the entire recruitment, and the standard-subject group adds Hindi 424, Science 408, English 395, Social Studies 392 and Maths 381 for 2,550. The miscellaneous group of 1,189 covers Music 314, PET Female 299, Art 279, PET Male 173 and Librarian 124, cadres with no PGT counterpart. Fourteen regional languages share 223 posts, so several of those subjects are advertised in single or low double figures and a 1:10 shortlist leaves a very small Tier-II field. Vacancies are subject-wise and category-wise only, with all-India transfer liability, so there is no state pool to compute odds against.

Tier-II is 55 questions for 100 marks in three hours: 40 objective carrying 40 marks and 15 descriptive carrying 60, all from the subject-specific syllabus. The bulletin states plainly that the merit list for TGT is prepared on the basis of the Tier-II examination only, so a strong Tier-I score contributes nothing beyond entry. For the current cycle the live question is timing: only Regional Language, Maths and Librarian results had been notified by 22 September 2026, and no document verification schedule exists for any post. Candidates in the pending subjects should have the degree, B.Ed., CTET certificate, category and PwBD certificates and age proof assembled now.
