Checked 7 October 2026. Rules are from the AIAPGET 2026 bulletin (NTA) and the AACCC PG Information Bulletin 2025-26; the 2026-27 AACCC bulletin was not posted on 7 October 2026. State rules are each state's own and are not summarised here beyond what these documents say.
AIAPGET gives you one score and two places to use it. NTA's 2026 bulletin says the test is a single entrance examination for All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota seats of MD and MS in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy across all colleges and universities, and that no other college or university may run its own separate entrance test for 2026-27. AACCC counsels the AIQ seats. The designated State or UT authority counsels the State Quota seats using the same merit, "choice of subject and fulfilment of their eligibility criteria, guidelines, domicile criteria, applicable reservation policies" (NTA's words). The AACCC rounds guide covers the central track in detail; this page sets the two side by side.
Seat counts are our additions of the AACCC provisional matrix rows. Domicile statement is the bulletin's.
ProSyllabus is an independent study site. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the National Testing Agency, NCISM, NCH, the Ministry of Ayush or AACCC. Every rule below is quoted or summarised from their published documents, and every sum, share or bound is labelled as our own arithmetic. We print no candidate names or roll numbers.
The two tracks side by side
| Question | All India Quota (AACCC) | State Quota |
|---|---|---|
| Who counsels it? | AACCC under NCISM and NCH, online | The State or UT counselling authority |
| Which seats? | 15% of government and aided colleges, central universities and national institutes, deemed universities, and BHU | The state's own seats in its colleges, plus AIQ seats of private colleges (counselled by the state) |
| Domicile | Not needed: AIQ seats are domicile-free (Ministry of Ayush letter of 26 May 2023, quoted in the bulletin) | Set by the state; NTA says state authorities apply their domicile criteria |
| Reservation | SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27% on the central list, EWS 10%, PwBD 5%; none in deemed universities | The state's own policy and lists |
| OBC candidates | Central OBC list only; a state-list OBC not on it cannot claim OBC seats and counts as General | Usually the state's list; check your state notice |
| Rounds | Round 1, 2, 3 and a two-phase stray round | Each state sets its own |
| Fees and security money | 2025-26: Rs 22,000 (UR, EWS, OBC-NCL) or Rs 21,000 (SC, ST, PwBD) for AIQ Govt, Govt Aided or CU-NI seats; Rs 55,000 for Deemed (all categories); the security part is refundable | Set by the state |
Where other pages get this wrong
A state-list OBC certificate does not carry over to AACCC counselling.
Commonly published instead: Pages telling every OBC candidate to claim OBC seats in all-india counselling.
The AACCC bulletin says OBCs present in a state list but not covered in the Central list are not eligible to claim the reservation under All India Quota. Such a candidate is treated as General. NTA's own bulletin makes a parallel point for the exam form: a state-list OBC who is not in the central OBC-NCL list should choose Open (EWS) only if they hold the EWS certificate.
Where the AIQ seats were in 2025-26
The AIQ seats are not spread evenly. In the Round 1 matrices, the AIQ Government and Government-Aided rows come from 20 states and UTs; the central university and national institute rows from 12. The two tables add the seats by state (our sums).

|---|---|---|
| Kerala | 41 | 11.9% |
| Delhi (NCT) | 38 | 11.0% |
| Madhya Pradesh | 31 | 9.0% |
| Uttar Pradesh | 28 | 8.1% |
| Maharashtra | 25 | 7.2% |
| Bihar | 21 | 6.1% |
| Rajasthan | 20 | 5.8% |
| Telangana | 19 | 5.5% |
| Karnataka | 17 | 4.9% |
| Tamil Nadu | 16 | 4.6% |

| Meghalaya | 1 | 0.2% |
Our sums of the AACCC provisional seat matrices.
Kerala, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh lead the 15% pool, while Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat lead the central pool (BHU, ITRA Jamnagar). The AIQ 15% is a slice of each state's government seats; the bulletin does not state the remainder, though 100 minus 15 is 85 per cent by our arithmetic, counselled by the state.
Domicile, in practice
For AACCC seats, no domicile certificate is needed at admission, because AIQ seats are domicile-free; the bulletin cites Ministry of Ayush letter L-18020/2/2023-EP-I dated 26 May 2023. For state seats the rules are the state's. Two things from the 2026 notices matter. First, the 2025-26 bulletin FAQ says the NRI quota seats in AACCC counselling are those at the participating deemed universities (we found no other AACCC NRI seats), and AACCC's notice of 27 August 2026 restates the Supreme Court criteria in Anshul Tomar v. State of M.P.: the sponsor must be a parent or a defined close relative who is an NRI ordinarily residing abroad, and for a relative who acts as guardian, evidence and an affidavit are required. Second, the NRI seats of three deemed Ayurveda colleges were converted to institutional (self-finance) seats in Round 3 of 2025-26 by a notice of 29 October 2025.
Private colleges and the state track
Private, non-deemed colleges are the part most likely to catch you out. Their AIQ seats are state-counselled, and the NCISM advisory to state authorities for 2026-27 says only colleges that hold permission from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board or NCISM for the year may take part. If a college is in counselling on an interim High Court order, the college principal and the student must each file a notarised affidavit-cum-undertaking, the allotment list must show the permission status, and the admission is provisional and subject to the court's final outcome. Check a private college's permission status for 2026-27 before you list it. Seats permitted after Round 3 began in 2025-26 were handed to the state authorities by AACCC, a reminder that the two tracks exchange seats.
Using both tracks: the cross-over rules
You may take part in both, but AACCC's rules reach into the state track. Whatever you do in one affects the other.
| Event | Effect |
|---|---|
| Admitted through any State or UT counselling round | Ineligible for the AACCC stray vacancy round |
| Allotted a seat in AACCC Round 3 or either stray phase | Must join; if not, fee forfeited and ineligible for any Ayush PG counselling (Central, State, UT) that year |
| Leave an AACCC seat between 3 days before Round 3 and the Round 3 result | Ineligible for AACCC, but still eligible for State or UT counselling |
| Leave an AACCC seat on or after the Round 3 result | Ineligible for Central, State and UT Ayush PG counselling |
| Allotted a state seat after joining through AACCC | The college processes the surrender online; AACCC will not accept offline withdrawal (notice of 1 Oct 2026) |
| Ineligible lists | AACCC publishes them after Round 3, SVR-I and SVR-II and circulates them to state authorities |
Which counselling do I register for?
Pick the kind of seat you want. The tool tells you which authority counsels it, whether domicile applies and which reservation list is used, as the AACCC 2025-26 bulletin and NTA 2026 bulletin describe it. Your state’s own rules are on its portal.
A workable order, if your rank is mid-table: register with AACCC for Round 1 and Round 2 where free exit is available, keep your state registration alive in parallel, and leave only before the dates above. If you are admitted through your state first, remember that the stray round is closed to you.
Practise it, don't just read it
Both tracks start from the same score. Topic quizzes keep your accuracy up while you wait for counselling dates.
The ProSyllabus AIAPGET library has ten quizzes on eight topics: Tridosha and Prakriti Assessment, Basic Sharira Rachana Landmarks, Marma Classification and Clinical Significance, Samhita Kala and Kriya Kala, Dravyaguna: Rasa Panchaka, Agni and Ama Concepts, Srotas and Body Channels and Panchakarma Procedures. They cover Ayurveda basics only; there is nothing yet for Homoeopathy, Siddha or Unani, and these are practice quizzes, not past papers.
Frequently asked questions
Is AIAPGET used for state quota seats as well?
Yes. NTA's 2026 bulletin says AIAPGET is the common entrance test for both All India Quota and State Quota seats, and that no other institution may hold a separate entrance exam for 2026-27. The state authority counsels state seats using your AIAPGET merit.
Do I need a domicile certificate for AACCC counselling?
No, for AIQ seats: the bulletin says they are domicile-free. State counselling follows the state's own domicile rules.
How much of government college seats is all-india quota?
The AACCC bulletin says 15% of government and government-aided college seats. The rest are state seats, counselled by the state.
Does AACCC counsel private college seats?
No. The bulletin says counselling for AIQ PG seats of private ASU&H institutes is conducted by the respective State or UT authority. Deemed universities are the exception: AACCC counsels them in full.
Can I take part in both AACCC and state counselling?
Yes, but the exit rules link them. Leaving an AACCC seat after the Round 3 result, or not joining a Round 3 or stray-round allotment, makes you ineligible for state counselling too. Being admitted in a state round closes the AACCC stray round to you.
Is OBC reservation the same in AACCC and my state?
Not necessarily. AACCC uses the central OBC list with a non-creamy layer test, and a state-list OBC who is not on it is treated as General. Your state authority sets its own lists.
Are deemed university seats reserved?
No. The bulletin says all PG seats of deemed universities are unreserved and domicile-free. Some have minority or NRI quotas, and fees are set by the university.
