NATS Trainee Air Traffic Controller Selection (UK)
NATS recruits trainee air traffic controllers onto a Level 5 apprenticeship that requires no prior aviation experience. Applicants must be 18 or over, have indefinite and unrestricted right to work in the UK, hold five GCSEs at Grade 4 or Scottish National 5s at Grade A to C including English and Maths (equivalents accepted), be able to pass security clearance to SC level, and be able to pass an initial Class 3 medical assessment. NATS describes four assessment stages: online ability tests, then an online situational judgement test and an online listening comprehension test, then a virtual assessment centre with an interview, an air traffic control knowledge test and an observed retest of earlier tests, then a practical exercise and a second knowledge test. A candidate who does not pass a stage is notified by email and cannot reapply until the next recruitment campaign.
