APS Certificate India 2026: Documents, Fees, Processing Time
Every Indian applicant to a German university needs an APS certificate before uni-assist or the visa. Here is what APS India asks for now — from its June 2026 leaflet — and a planner for the last safe day to courier your file.

When must your APS file leave?
Prefilled with uni-assist's "often" date; many master's courses set earlier ones.

dMAT applies to you. Book the next g.a.s.t. sitting before you courier; the dMAT certificate is the only document that may follow the APS file.

How it counts: deadline − 8 weeks (uni-assist's advice) − 5 weeks for verification (a 2022 APS notice's "usually within a month" plus a week) − 1 week for a bank transfer − 5 days of courier, and 2 more weeks if that falls in April–July. The buffers are our assumptions, not APS figures.

Copies only — "Kindly do not send any original documents along with your application!" (June 2026 leaflet). APS processes only complete, formally correct files and may ask for more during verification.

Only a required dMAT certificate may follow on your own initiative. Include all other required academic-qualification documents initially. APS may still request more documents during verification (APS India, APS India). And check your university on anabin first: APS India cannot certify students of universities rated "H+/-" or "H-" (APS FAQ).

Who needs the dMAT
The dMAT (digital Master Test) is run by g.a.s.t.; APS India still verifies your documents. It applies to master's applicants from the summer semester 2027 intake whose previous degree is in engineering, commerce/accounting/finance/economics or business/management — unless they completed online registration or shipped complete APS documents before 29 June 2026, already hold a certificate for that completed procedure, or participate in an officially confirmed exchange, double-degree or university partnership programme. The first sitting was 26 September 2026; the official fee is €150 (APS India).

Paying, couriering and using the certificate
Pay ₹18,000
Online via CCAvenue during registration, or bank transfer to the APS account — "manually wiring the verification fee will lengthen the verification process". Non-refundable once paid (APS India, APS India).
Courier only
Academic Evaluation Centre India, Gate No. 3, DLTA Complex, R.K. Khanna Stadium, 1 Africa Avenue, New Delhi 110029. No personal drop-off; keep your tracking number — APS gives no delivery updates (APS India).
A digital certificate
Emailed as a PDF with the same validity as the paper one, accepted at VFS, the embassy, uni-assist and universities. Do not rename, edit or merge it (APS India).
uni-assist and the visa
uni-assist asks Indian applicants to upload the digitally sealed certificate as the unchanged original file (uni-assist). The German missions' 2022 notice asked visa applicants to enter the APS case number when booking (German missions in India); follow your mission's and VFS's current instructions.

APS certificate FAQs
What is the APS certificate fee in India?
The APS India fee is ₹18,000, non-refundable once paid. You can pay online through CCAvenue during registration or by bank transfer to the APS account; APS India says a manual transfer lengthens verification (June 2026 leaflet).
How long does APS verification take?
APS India's registration page says verification takes at least two weeks and may take longer; its FAQ says it cannot give a fixed time for every case. A 2022 News notice said verification usually finished within a month of opening the application. Plan with a margin — the planner above adds one week to "a month".
Which documents do I send to APS India?
Copies only: the signed application form with a recent photo, the fee receipt, Aadhaar, passport first and last page, Class X and XII marksheets and certificates (plus the Class XII admit card if available), all semester marksheets, the degree or a provisional certificate not older than 1 year, a language certificate if submitted, the signed Student Authorisation Letter, and notarised English translations where needed (June 2026 leaflet).
Can I submit documents at the APS office in Delhi?
No. APS India accepts documents by post or courier only; there is no personal drop-off and no public visiting hours. Keep your courier tracking number — APS does not give delivery updates (APS FAQ).
Do I need the dMAT for APS?
Only if you are applying for a master's from the summer semester 2027 intake onward, your previous degree is in engineering, commerce/accounting/finance/economics or business/management, you did not register or ship your complete APS application before 29 June 2026, and you are not in an officially confirmed exchange, double-degree or university partnership programme (APS India dMAT page).
Is the APS certificate digital now?
Yes. APS India emails a digital certificate with the same validity as the old paper one. Upload it to uni-assist and universities as the unchanged original file — do not rename, edit or merge it (APS News, uni-assist India page).
When should I courier my APS documents?
Count back from your university deadline: uni-assist recommends applying at least 8 weeks before it, then allow for APS verification and the courier. For a 15 July 2027 winter deadline paid online, our planner gives 27 March 2027 as the target courier date. It is a planning date, not an APS promise: APS gives no fixed processing time.
Does an APS certificate guarantee admission or a visa?
No. APS India verifies your academic documents; universities decide admission and the embassy decides the visa. The certificate is one required step.
