Answers to what every GPAT aspirant is searching for:
GPAT score is used as the primary basis for M.Pharm admissions but the process varies. Central institutions and NIPERs have their own entrance tests (JEE-NIPER for NIPERs). State universities typically conduct state-level pharmacy PG counselling using GPAT rank. Private colleges may accept GPAT directly or conduct their own tests.
Students who have qualified GPAT and secured admission in an AICTE-approved M.Pharm program at a government or government-aided institution are eligible. The institution must be on AICTE's approved list. Private unaided colleges do not qualify regardless of GPAT rank. Always confirm with AICTE's official list before admission.
The AICTE GPAT stipend (₹12,400/month) is for M.Pharm students at AICTE-approved government colleges. The NIPER stipend (₹5,000/month) is specifically for students enrolled at NIPER campuses, funded by the Ministry of Chemicals. If you're at a NIPER, you get the NIPER stipend — you cannot claim both simultaneously.
GPAT rank is only the eligibility criterion for appearing in JEE-NIPER — it doesn't directly determine NIPER admission. Selection is based on your JEE-NIPER written score and interview. A rank of 800 qualifies you for JEE-NIPER, but the actual admission depends on your performance in that test. Prepare both GPAT and JEE-NIPER separately.
From an industry perspective: Pharmaceutics (manufacturing, formulation), Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacology have the highest demand in India. For global roles and MNC pharma, Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery (from NIPERs) command the best packages (₹10–18 LPA+). For academia, any specialisation combined with NET/PhD is equally viable.
There is no limit on the number of GPAT attempts. You can appear every year as long as you hold a B.Pharm degree (or are in the final year). However, the GPAT score is valid only for the current admission cycle — it does not carry over to the next year. A fresh score is needed for each year's admissions.
Yes. A valid GPAT score can be used as an exemption for some PhD entrance tests at private universities. However, for government-funded PhD fellowships (like CSIR-JRF or DST), you need GATE or the specific institution's own test. NIPERs accept GPAT as a qualifying criterion for their PhD program eligibility screening as well.
