Most lists of "PSUs through GATE CS" are copied from year to year and include organisations that do not take Computer Science through GATE at all. This guide lists only organisations whose own current notice names GATE 2027, and for CS, it rests on four documents: POWERGRID Advt CC/03/2026, NTPC Advt 11/26, Grid-India Advt CC/26/2026, and DRDO RAC's public notice of 31 August 2026.
It also says plainly who is not on the list: GAIL's GATE 2027 advertisement has no Computer Science discipline, and IOCL and HPCL recruit CS graduates through their own tests, not GATE. Past cut-offs are included only where the organisation published them, and we never print candidate names, roll numbers or application numbers, only counts and cut-off marks.

Where other pages get this wrong
IOCL and HPCL do not recruit Computer Science graduates through GATE, and GAIL's GATE-2027 list has no CS.
Commonly published instead: Lists of "PSUs recruiting through GATE CS" that include IOCL, HPCL or GAIL.
IOCL's 2026 advertisement recruits CS and IT graduates through its own computer-based test. HPCL's officer advertisement uses its own selection process (the word GATE appears in it only inside "payment gateway", our text search). GAIL's GATE-2027 disciplines are Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical.

Two cautions from the notices themselves. POWERGRID lists its disciplines "tentatively", and its CS vacancy count for 2027 is not yet published; do not assume last year's figure carries over. And Grid-India taking CS is new relative to its GATE-2025 drive, which was open to the Electrical Engineering paper only. POWERGRID's advertisement of 24 September also prints the GATE registration close as 27 September and 5 October; the GATE site has since moved those to 5 October (regular) and 12 October 2026 (extended), and the GATE site's dates are the ones that apply.

GATE 2027 CS PSU eligibility checker
Checks your details against the two notices that print full CS eligibility today: POWERGRID Advt CC/03/2026 and Grid-India Advt CC/26/2026. NTPC and DRDO have not yet published CS eligibility for 2027.
A screening aid, not a decision. Both notices apply category and PwBD relaxations only to posts reserved for that category, POWERGRID has not yet published its CS vacancies, and both expect GATE 2027 CS qualification. Final-year students may apply if results arrive by 31 Aug 2027 (POWERGRID) or 14 Aug 2027 (Grid-India) with the minimum marks up to the pre-final year. Read the notice itself before you rely on this.

NTPC and DRDO are not in this table because neither has yet published CS eligibility for 2027. NTPC's notice says only that shortlisting will depend on GATE-2027 performance and organisational need. DRDO's notice says the detailed advertisement, with eligibility, will be published when the requirement arises. For reference only, DRDO's last Scientist B advertisement (No. 156, closing 4 July 2025) asked for a valid GATE CS score and a first-class B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering or a listed equivalent.

Grid-India's formula makes the GATE mark almost everything: 85 of the 100 points come from your normalised GATE-2027 marks, and the group discussion has no qualifying mark. It shortlists category-wise on those marks for the group discussion and interview, and reserves the right to raise the minimum criteria or hold a screening test to limit numbers. Shortlisted candidates may also sit a behavioural assessment, which has no qualifying mark and is used only as an input to the interview.
How few CS posts there have been
The numbers below come from the previous cycle, because no 2027 CS vacancy count has been published except Grid-India's. They are the best evidence of scale, not a forecast.

What those cut-offs mean in GATE terms, using the official score formula and marks distributions (our arithmetic): 67.88 marks in GATE 2024 was a score of about 789, reached by somewhere between 235 and 921 candidates that year. 80.26 marks in GATE 2025 was a score of about 870, and only 122 of 1,70,825 candidates scored 80 or more. A qualifying score of 350 is nowhere near enough for these posts; plan for a rank in the hundreds.
POWERGRID also ran a GATE-2026 drive (Advt CC/04/2025 of 27.09.2025) that listed Computer Science "tentatively". On 30 September 2026 its careers page listed that advertisement but no vacancy notification or result under it (our check of the page). A discipline named tentatively in the first advertisement is not a promise of posts.

Some organisations used GATE CS scores in their last drive but have not published anything naming GATE 2027. AAI's Advt 09/2025 filled 31 Junior Executive (Information Technology) posts from GATE 2023, 2024 or 2025 CS scores. BARC's OCES/DGFS-2026 accepted a valid GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 CS score as one of two screening routes, and its final list had 12 Computer Science selections (our count). DVC's Advt of 10.03.2026 filled 7 Executive Trainee (IT) posts from GATE-2025. DRDO's last Scientist B advertisement had 34 Computer Science posts across DRDO, ADA, CME and WESEE (our sum). None of these is a 2027 commitment; watch each organisation's careers page after the GATE result.

Every PSU on this page shortlists on GATE-2027 performance, so the only preparation that counts before March is the exam itself. Keep your GATE 2027 application form, admit card and scorecard safe: Grid-India asks to see all three at the group discussion, interview and joining.

Practise it, don't just read it
PSU cut-offs sit in the top few hundred ranks. Steady topic practice is how the last ten marks are found.
The ProSyllabus GATE CS library currently has 29 topic quizzes of ten questions each, covering programming and data structures, algorithms, operating systems, databases, computer networks, compiler design and theory of computation, each with a worked explanation. There are no quizzes yet for Engineering Mathematics or Computer Organization, and Digital Logic has only number systems, so use the official papers for those. One networks quiz is built on the OSI and TCP/IP stacks, which the 2027 syllabus no longer lists.
Which PSUs recruit through GATE CS 2027?
As of 30 September 2026, POWERGRID (Advt CC/03/2026), NTPC (Advt 11/26) and Grid-India (Advt CC/26/2026) name GATE 2027 CS in their own notices, and DRDO RAC has told Scientist B aspirants to take GATE 2027. More may follow after the result on 19 March 2027.
Does IOCL recruit CS through GATE?
Not in its current advertisement. IOCL's 2026 advertisement recruits Computer Science and IT graduates through its own computer-based test.
Does GAIL take GATE CS in 2027?
No. GAIL's first GATE-2027 advertisement lists Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical only.
How many CS posts does Grid-India have through GATE 2027?
Fifteen: UR 7, OBC-NCL 4, SC 2, ST 1 and EWS 1, plus one PwBD post reserved horizontally. Only GATE 2027 CS scores are valid.
What GATE CS marks do PSUs need?
Far more than the qualifying mark. POWERGRID's CS interview cut-off was 67.88 marks (unreserved) from GATE 2024 and 80.26 from GATE 2025, when it had only two CS posts.
