Alerts and Updates for GATE Computer Science and Information Technology

GATE 2027 is organized by IIT Madras, whose official notification and brochure was released on 20 July 2026 at the gate2027.iitm.ac.in portal. Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) is one of 30 papers, held as a computer-based test on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027.

GOAPS registration for GATE 2027, originally planned for 14 August 2026, was postponed and opened on 27 August 2026 instead. The regular deadline without late fee is 27 September 2026, with a late-fee window until 5 October 2026; DigiLocker registration and live facial verification are now mandatory.

IIT Madras restructured three core CS sections for 2027: Computer Organization and Architecture dropped secondary storage and magnetic disk topics, Computer Networks no longer explicitly lists protocols such as ARP, ICMP, DHCP, SMTP, FTP and UDP, and Digital Logic wording was made more explicit. Algorithms, DBMS, OS and Theory of Computation are unchanged.

IIT Madras has not yet assigned each of the 30 papers a specific date or session (forenoon/afternoon) within the six exam days; this is expected to be confirmed only when admit cards are released. GATE 2027 results are scheduled for 19 March 2027, per the official portal.

GATE 2027, including the CS paper, will be organised by IIT Madras. The official notification and information brochure are not out yet as of July 11, 2026; they are expected in the last week of July 2026. The exam is tentatively scheduled for February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2027.

As per the tentative GATE 2027 calendar, the GOAPS application window opens on August 24, 2026, with the regular-fee deadline on September 29, 2026 and a late-fee window until October 13, 2026. Admit cards are expected from January 3, 2027 and results in March 2027.

For benchmarking, IIT Guwahati's official GATE 2026 qualifying cut-off for CS (Computer Science and Information Technology) was 30 marks for General, 27 for OBC-NCL/EWS and 20 for SC/ST/PwD. GATE 2027 cut-offs are set afresh after the exam and will be published by IIT Madras.

GATE 2026 results were announced on March 19, 2026 and a GATE score stays valid for three years from the date of announcement of results. So a 2026 CS scorecard remains usable for admissions into March 2029, alongside any GATE 2027 attempt.

No syllabus or pattern revision has been announced for CS; the paper is expected to keep the 65-question, 100-mark, three-hour format with General Aptitude worth 15 marks. Under the two-paper option, CS may be combined with DA, EC, GE, MA, PH or ST. Confirm against the official brochure when released.
