Checked 3 October 2026. From the official 2021 and 2023 guidelines. No weightage and no question papers have been published. A new edition could add or drop themes.
There is no Fit India Quiz syllabus in the sense of chapters and marks. The official guidelines list themes: three in 2021, six in 2023. No weightage has ever been published and no past paper has been released, so anyone telling you that one theme “carries significant weightage” is guessing. This guide sets out exactly what the two rulebooks name, what 2023 added, how the rounds use pictures and sound, and a sensible way to cover each theme.
Status on 3 October 2026
The last Fit India Quiz we can find is the 2023 edition (the third): its preliminary round ran on 21–22 December 2023 and its State rounds on 26 March – 10 April 2024. No 2024, 2025 or 2026 edition has been announced. The official quiz page still shows the 2023 text, the NTA registration portal does not respond, and National Sports Day 2026 (28–30 August) ran without the quiz. Any “2026 dates” you see elsewhere are guesses.

Sources: 2021 guidelines (Delhi DoE circular) and 2023 guidelines (SAI). PIB’s releases describe the content more loosely as India’s sporting history, fitness and nutrition.
Where other pages get this wrong
The official 2023 themes include government schemes (Khelo India, TOPS, Fit India Mission) and leagues (IPL, ISL, La Liga, Big Bash League, F1).
Commonly published instead: An older guide on this site lists only history, traditional games, fitness and the Olympics, and says indigenous games “carry significant weightage”.
Three of the six 2023 theme lines are new and are missing from that list. No weightage is given for any theme; traditional games are one part of one line.
What the questions look like
The prelim is 60 multiple-choice questions. The 2021 guidelines say it includes image-based questions. The later rounds go further: the 2023 guidelines list audio-visual and image-based questions, buzzer rounds and a physical challenge, and the 2021 guidelines add questions on each State’s own sport and a “phone a teacher or parent” idea. The quiz is pitched so that students of Class 8 and above can answer it.
| Round | Question types named in the guidelines | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Prelim | 60 multiple-choice; image-based questions (2021) | Class 8 and above (2023) |
| State round | Audio-visual, image-based, buzzer, physical challenge (2023); local sport, phone a teacher or parent (2021) | Teams of two |
| National round | Quarter-finals of 3 teams, semi-finals of 4, a final of 4 (2021 plan) | 36 State champions |
That has a practical consequence: learning to recognise things matters as much as memorising facts. A student should know what a mallakhamb pole looks like, the Olympic rings and their order, the shape of a kabaddi court, famous stadiums and the kit of different sports, not just dates.
How to cover each theme
The guidelines do not name study material. The table suggests, for each theme, what to cover and where the primary information lives. It is our suggestion, not an official reading list.
| Theme | Cover | Where the facts live |
|---|---|---|
| Indian sports history and personalities | Olympic medallists, hockey’s golden era, national sports awards and their changes, first achievements | Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports award announcements; Olympic records |
| Traditional games and yoga | Kabaddi, kho-kho, mallakhamb, kalaripayattu, gatka, thang-ta; asanas and their benefits | Khelo India Games sport lists; Ministry of Ayush yoga material |
| Fitness and traditional fitness methods | Components of fitness, basic nutrition, Fit India age-appropriate fitness protocols | Fit India Mission website |
| Olympics, CWG, Asian Games, Khelo India Games | Hosts, symbols, mottos, India’s medals by edition, new sports | Olympic, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games official sites; Khelo India |
| Government schemes | Khelo India (verticals, games), TOPS (who it funds), Fit India Mission (launched 29 August 2019, Fit India School certification, Sundays on Cycle) | Khelo India, SAI and Fit India websites; PIB |
| Leagues | IPL and ISL champions and formats, La Liga, Big Bash League, Formula 1 and MotoGP basics, boxing weight classes | League and governing-body sites |
| Other developments | The past year’s major results and announcements | PIB sports releases; sports news |
One change worth knowing if you study awards: according to a PTI report of 24 October 2024, the Dhyan Chand Award for lifetime achievement was discontinued and replaced by an Arjuna Award (Lifetime) from 2024. Older question banks, including two questions in our own awards quiz, still treat the Dhyan Chand Award as current.
How our quiz library maps to the themes
Our Fit India Quiz library has 10 topic quizzes. We mapped each to the closest official theme line. The chart shows the gaps honestly: three of the six 2023 theme lines, schemes, traditional games and leagues, have no quiz of their own yet, and the Asian Games are not covered.

What not to rely on
No official previous-year question paper or answer key exists, so “previous year papers” sold online are compilations, not NTA papers. Our exam record on this site once listed 15 previous-year papers; there are none. NTA’s mock test ran inside its own app before the 2023 prelim. Question banks that predate 2024 may also be out of date on awards and on recent Olympic and Asian Games results.
| Material | Status |
|---|---|
| Official previous-year papers | None published |
| Official answer keys | None published |
| NTA mock test | In the quiz app, 15–17.12.2023 (reported) |
| Theme weightage | Never published |
| Questions on the Dhyan Chand Award as current | Out of date: replaced by an Arjuna Award (Lifetime) from 2024 (PTI, 24.10.2024, reported) |
