Checked 3 October 2026. Fit India Quiz and MyGov facts are official; Ultimate Sports Quiz facts are reported (Wikipedia) and its current season was not checked. Any of the three can change or return at short notice.
Three quite different things get called “the sports quiz” by Indian parents and teachers. The Fit India Quiz is the Sports Ministry’s school competition with a ₹3.25 crore prize pool, last held in 2023. The Ultimate Sports Quiz is a privately run televised quiz for school teams in Classes 6 to 10. The MyGov Fit India National Sports Day Quiz is a two-and-a-half-minute online quiz that any citizen can take. This guide compares them so you can tell which one a student can actually enter.
Status on 3 October 2026
The last Fit India Quiz we can find is the 2023 edition (the third): its preliminary round ran on 21–22 December 2023 and its State rounds on 26 March – 10 April 2024. No 2024, 2025 or 2026 edition has been announced. The official quiz page still shows the 2023 text, the NTA registration portal does not respond, and National Sports Day 2026 (28–30 August) ran without the quiz. Any “2026 dates” you see elsewhere are guesses.

Fit India Quiz: the big one, currently dormant
The Fit India Quiz is the only one of the three with public money behind it, a State-by-State structure and a guaranteed television slot for the finalists. Every school in the State round receives ₹15,000, State champion schools ₹2.5 lakh and the national champion ₹25 lakh. It is also the only one a student cannot enter alone: the school registers and pays, and the school’s best students go through as a team of two. Its weakness is simple. The last edition we can find is 2023, and nothing has been announced since.
| Fit India Quiz fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Prelim | 60 questions, +4/−1, 30 minutes (2023), Android app, 13 languages |
| State round | 4, 8, 16 or 32 schools per State by participation; teams of two |
| Prize to every State-round school | ₹15,000 to the school, ₹2,000 to the team |
| State champion | ₹2.5 lakh to the school, ₹25,000 to the team |
| National champion | ₹25 lakh to the school, ₹2.5 lakh to the team |
Ultimate Sports Quiz: private, televised, Classes 6 to 10
The Ultimate Sports Quiz is run by a private company, Super Six Sports Gaming. According to Wikipedia, it is for school teams of two from Classes 6 to 10. Its 2022 season was broadcast on Sony Ten and MX Player from 5 to 17 June 2022; its 2023 season ran from 29 November to 17 December 2023 on JioCinema and Sports18, with the top 36 teams chosen from about 4,000 teams in 350 cities. The prize pool is reported at about ₹1 crore for the top three teams, partly as money for school sports infrastructure. We could not find its entry fee, and we did not verify whether a season is running now; check with the organiser before planning around it.
The same schools turn up in both competitions. Wikipedia reports that the 2022 Ultimate Sports Quiz was won by the school that was Uttar Pradesh’s Fit India Quiz champion in both 2021 and 2022. A school that builds a sports-quiz team is building it for both.

MyGov Fit India National Sports Day Quiz: open to anyone, over in minutes
Around National Sports Day in 2025, Fit India and MyGov ran an online quiz open to any Indian citizen: 10 questions in 150 seconds, no negative marking, one attempt, an e-certificate for every participant and Fit India merchandise for the top 10. It ran from 21 to 31 August 2025 and MyGov published the winners on its blog. It is a pleasant way to take part, but it is not the Fit India Quiz: there is no school entry, no prelim, no State round and no cash prize. We found no MyGov quiz for National Sports Day 2026.

A checklist for a school coordinator
Getting ready for whichever quiz returns first
- Name one teacher to watch fitindia.gov.in and PIB around National Sports Day each year.
- Keep a list of interested students with dates of birth: the Fit India Quiz breaks ties in favour of the younger student.
- Make sure students can use an Android phone for the prelim; the 2023 app did not run on iOS.
- Pair students into teams of two with different strengths: one on history and personalities, one on leagues and current events.
- Keep the school’s bank details ready: Fit India Quiz prizes are paid into accounts the school enters.
- Keep the school’s prize money for sport and fitness, as the 2021 guidelines require.
