IIT Madras is the organizing institute for GATE 2027 and released the official notification and brochure on 20 July 2026 at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The exam, covering 30 papers including Architecture and Planning (AR), will be a computer-based test held on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027.

GATE 2027 registration, originally planned for 14 August 2026, was postponed; the GOAPS application portal opened on 27 August 2026 and is open now. Regular registration (no late fee) closes 27 September 2026, with an extended late-fee window until 5 October 2026.

The GATE 2027 AR syllabus, released by IIT Madras, keeps its familiar structure of General Aptitude, a common Part A, and discipline choice between Architecture (Part B1) and Planning (Part B2), across 65 questions worth 100 marks; candidates should still check the official PDF for any line-item updates from the broader 2027 syllabus revision.

The specific date and session (forenoon or afternoon) for the AR paper within the six exam days has not been announced yet; IIT Madras will assign each of the 30 papers a slot, confirmed only when admit cards are released, expected around early January 2027.

The GATE 2027 notification has not been released yet. IIT Madras is widely reported as the organising institute for GATE 2027 under the IIT-IISc rotation, but this is still described as expected rather than officially confirmed, and the official brochure and portal are projected to go live in the last week of July or in August 2026.

As per the tentative calendar being reported, GATE 2027 registration is expected to open around August 24, 2026, with a normal deadline near September 29 and an extended late-fee window to October 13, 2026. The exam is tentatively listed for February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2027, with results expected in March 2027.

The AR paper keeps its split structure: a mandatory Part A common section, plus a choice of Part B1 (Architecture) or Part B2 (Planning) that you select at the exam. Total is 100 marks over 180 minutes, with General Aptitude at 15 marks and the AR subject portion at 85 marks.

The official GATE 2027 syllabus has not been published; it is released along with the brochure by the organising institute. AR aspirants should keep preparing from the GATE 2026 Architecture and Planning syllabus, covering the Part A common topics before committing to a Part B1 or Part B2 specialisation.

For the current cycle, IIT Guwahati issued GATE 2026 scorecards from March 27, 2026; free download ran to May 31, 2026 and a paid download at Rs 500 is available till December 31, 2026. A GATE score is valid for three years, so a GATE 2026 AR score can still be used for M.Arch and M.Plan admissions.
