Per DBT/RCB's official admission schedule, GAT-B 2026 admissions moved through further stages after the first merit list (17 July): a vacant-seat/second list was displayed by 31 July, candidate transfers were allowed up to 14 August, and admissions under this cycle formally close on 31 August 2026, with participating institutes required to submit their final list of admitted students to DBT by 3 September 2026.

NTA declared the GAT-B 2026 result on 10 June 2026 at exams.nta.nic.in/gat-bet; the score and rank card is valid only for admission in the 2026-27 academic year.

GAT-B remains a decentralised admission process: NTA's role ends at conducting the test and releasing the score/rank card, while each DBT-supported participating institute independently sets its own eligibility, application and merit-list process for its GAT-B-linked PG seats.

The GAT-B 2026 result was declared by NTA on June 10, 2026, alongside the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) result. The final answer keys for both papers were published a day earlier, on June 9, 2026, after the provisional keys and question papers were displayed for challenge from May 23, 2026.

NTA released the GAT-B 2026 Score and Rank Card on June 25, 2026. Candidates can download it from the official GAT-BET portal using their application number and date of birth; the rank card is the document participating institutes ask for during admission, so download and save a copy now.

GAT-B 2026 was conducted on May 17, 2026, for admission to postgraduate biotechnology programmes at DBT-supported institutes; reports put the seat pool at roughly 1,316 PG seats across around 79 participating institutes. Admit cards had been released on May 13, 2026 and registration opened on March 19, 2026.

There is no centralised GAT-B counselling. Institute-level counselling began in the third week of June 2026 and is expected to continue through July 2026, with each DBT-supported institute running its own shortlist, document verification and interview rounds. Track your shortlisted institute's own website, not just the NTA portal.

The DBT postgraduate teaching programme portal remains the reference for the list of participating institutes, seat matrix and programme details, while candidates who qualified BET 2026 become eligible for the DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF), subject to fellowship guidelines and category-wise cut-offs.
