Checked 28 September 2026. Pay levels are from the Delhi High Court and DSSSB notices (official). DA of 60% from 1 January 2026 is as reported from the Finance Ministry order of 22.04.2026; the July 2026 DA order had not been issued on 28 September 2026. All in-hand figures are our estimates.
A Delhi High Court notice tells you the pay level of a post and nothing else: no rupee figure, no allowances. Everything else follows from the Central 7th Pay Commission matrix and the allowance rules for Delhi. This guide takes the level printed in each current notice — JJA/Restorer, Personal Assistant, Senior Personal Assistant, Court Attendant, Chauffeur and Despatch Rider — and works out the starting salary, what reaches the bank each month, and how pay grows. Every rupee below that is not printed in a notice is our estimate, and the calculator lets you change the one rate that moves twice a year: dearness allowance.
Pay levels from each notice; in-hand is our arithmetic with the assumptions below.
Where other pages get this wrong
The JJA/Restorer post is Level 6 (₹35,400 entry basic) in the 2026 notice — not Level 4 or ₹29,200.
Commonly published instead: “JJA pay ₹29,200–₹93,200, Level 4.”
JJA 2026 vacancy notice: “Group ‘B’, 6th Level of Pay-matrix of 7th CPC”. ₹29,200 is the Level 5 entry figure (JJA’s level in the 2020 notice), and Level 4 starts at ₹25,500. The post was upgraded between the 2020 and 2026 cycles.
Pay level of every Delhi High Court post

| Court Attendant, Room Attendant (H), Security Attendant | C | 3 | ₹21,700 | ₹21,700–69,100 | DSSSB 03/2025 |
| Chauffeur; Despatch Rider-cum-Process Server | C | 5 | ₹29,200 | ₹29,200–92,300 | DSSSB 04/2025 |
| Junior Judicial Assistant / Restorer | B | 6 | ₹35,400 | ₹35,400–1,12,400 | Delhi High Court exam |

| Senior Personal Assistant | B | 8 | ₹47,600 | ₹47,600–1,51,100 | Delhi High Court exam |
Pay levels and groups: JJA 2026 notice, SPA/PA 2026 notice, DSSSB Advertisements 03/2025 and 04/2025. Entry basic and range are the first and last cells of each level in the 7th CPC pay matrix.
What reaches the bank: our in-hand estimate
| Level (post) | Basic | DA 60% | HRA 30% | Transport + DA | Gross | NPS 10% | In-hand ≈ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 (Attendant) | 21,700 | 13,020 | 6,510 | 5,760 | 46,990 | 3,472 | 43,500 |
| 5 (Chauffeur, DRCPS) | 29,200 | 17,520 | 8,760 | 5,760 | 61,240 | 4,672 | 56,600 |
| 6 (JJA) | 35,400 | 21,240 | 10,620 | 5,760 | 73,020 | 5,664 | 67,400 |
| 7 (PA) | 44,900 | 26,940 | 13,470 | 5,760 | 91,070 | 7,184 | 83,900 |
| 8 (Senior PA) | 47,600 | 28,560 | 14,280 | 5,760 | 96,200 | 7,616 | 88,600 |
Our estimate, in rupees a month, before income tax. DA 60% of basic from 01.01.2026 (reported). HRA 30% of basic for Delhi (the 7th CPC rate once DA crossed 50%). Transport allowance ₹3,600 plus DA on it for Levels 3–8 in Delhi. NPS/UPS employee share 10% of basic + DA. Group insurance and any court-specific allowance are not included.
Our arithmetic from the table above.
Delhi High Court salary calculator
Pick the post. DA is pre-filled at 60% (the rate reported from 1 January 2026); change it when a new order is issued. Years of service add one annual increment each (our assumption). The first increment falls on 1 January or 1 July depending on the joining date, so "1 year" is illustrative.
Our estimate, not an official salary slip. Entry basic pay is the first cell of the 7th CPC pay level named in each notice. Increments: 3% of basic, rounded to the nearest ₹100 — the rule the 7th CPC pay matrix is built on. Transport allowance ₹3,600 plus DA on it (Levels 3–8, higher-TPTA city). Deduction shown: 10% of basic + DA towards NPS/UPS. Income tax, group insurance and any court-specific allowance are not included.
The biggest swing in these numbers is house rent allowance. An employee living in a government quarter draws no HRA, which takes about ₹10,600 off a JJA’s monthly pay. The next is DA: the July 2026 instalment is reported as 63% on CPI-IW figures, but no order had been issued on 28 September 2026, so we have not used it. At 63% a JJA’s in-hand would rise by about ₹1,060 a month (our arithmetic: 3% of basic plus 3% of ₹3,600, less 10% of the extra DA).
How the pay grows
| Year | Level 3 | Level 5 | Level 6 (JJA) | Level 7 (PA) | Level 8 (SPA) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | 21,700 | 29,200 | 35,400 | 44,900 | 47,600 |
| After 1 increment | 22,400 | 30,100 | 36,500 | 46,200 | 49,000 |
| After 2 | 23,100 | 31,000 | 37,600 | 47,600 | 50,500 |
| After 3 | 23,800 | 31,900 | 38,700 | 49,000 | 52,000 |
| After 5 | 25,200 | 33,900 | 41,100 | 52,000 | 55,200 |
Basic pay, rupees. The 7th CPC matrix adds 3% a year, rounded to the nearest ₹100; the cells above follow that rule. One increment a year is our assumption — the date of the first increment depends on the joining date.
A JJA who joins in 2027 at ₹35,400 reaches about ₹41,100 basic after five increments, before any promotion. Promotion changes the level, not just the cell, and in a High Court registry it depends on the court’s own recruitment rules and vacancies; the notices do not describe a promotion ladder, so we do not print one. What the notices do show is that the post itself was re-graded: JJA was Level 5, Group C in the 2020 notice and is Level 6, Group B in 2026, a ₹6,200 higher entry basic.
The fine print behind the numbers
| Component | Rule used | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Dearness allowance | 60% of basic from 01.01.2026 | Reported (Finance Ministry order of 22.04.2026) |
| House rent allowance | 30% of basic, X-class city (Delhi) | 7th CPC rule; 0% if a government quarter is allotted |
| Transport allowance | ₹3,600 + DA, Levels 3–8, Delhi | 7th CPC rule for higher-TPTA cities |
| Pension contribution | 10% of basic + DA | NPS/UPS employee share for new entrants |
| Income tax | Not deducted | Depends on regime and investments |
| Court-specific allowances | Not included | Not stated in any recruitment notice |
Our assumptions. The recruitment notices print only the pay level; allowance rates come from Central Government orders.
One more point, because it decides which exam is worth your year. The Senior Personal Assistant is only one level above the PA but needs 110 wpm shorthand instead of 100, and both are well above JJA. For a graduate who can already take dictation, the SPA/PA 2026 notice — open until 5 October 2026 — offers the best-paid entry among the posts in this guide (Levels 8 and 7). For a graduate without shorthand, JJA at Level 6 is the natural target. For a Class 10 candidate, the Level 3 attendant posts come through DSSSB.
What the 2020-to-2026 upgrade is worth to a JJA
Because JJA moved from Level 5 to Level 6, a JJA selected in the 2026 cycle starts on ₹35,400 basic where a 2020-cycle entrant started on ₹29,200. At today’s allowance rates that difference is worth roughly ₹10,800 a month in hand — our arithmetic, comparing the Level 5 and Level 6 rows of the in-hand table above (₹56,600 and ₹67,400). The upgrade also made JJA a Group B post. It is one reason 26,226 candidates appeared for the 2026 prelim (another 9,573 were absent) and the cut-off rose by 11 to 24 marks in each of General, EWS, OBC, SC and ST over 2020 — a better-paid post draws a stronger field.
Practise it, don't just read it
Every one of these posts is won with English — the JJA prelim and Main, the stenographer transcription, the attendant paper’s English section.
The ProSyllabus Delhi High Court library currently has a reading-comprehension quiz — the English skill the JJA prelim and Main test directly.
