DDA ASO LDCE Since 2016: Vacancies, Sittings and How Many Passed

Checked 30 September 2026. All vacancies, dates and results from DDA circulars and result orders (official); pass counts only, no names. Results of the July 2019 and 2020 cycles and the vacancies of 2016 were not found. The LDCE-2026 date is not yet notified.

DDA has run the ASO LDCE six times since 2016 on the record we could find, and the pattern is stark: vacancies in the hundreds, passes in the tens or fewer. The combined 2022-25 exam carried 175 vacancies; 41 candidates were declared successful and 3 more results were kept in a sealed cover. LDCE-2026 now offers 137 posts. This guide lays out every cycle from DDA's own circulars and result orders, with counts only.

Official figures from Circulars 08, 48/2018, 49/2024 and 73/2026, and the results of 2017, 2019 and EO 677. The 2016, July 2019 and 2020 cycles are left out because one of the two numbers was not published.

What the pattern means

On our arithmetic, the three cycles with both numbers published filled 18 of 77, 2 of 103 and 44 of 175 vacancies through the exam: under a quarter in every case. The combined exam left at least 131 of its 175 posts unfilled by the LDCE. What happens to the unfilled LDCE share is not stated in the circulars we read; the vacancy count of each new cycle is DDA's own figure and we do not try to reconcile it with the last.

The reason is not a shortage of candidates alone. In 2025, 152 roll numbers were issued and 115 sat every paper, yet only 44 passed, and Paper I stopped most of the rest: see the pass-marks guide for the counts. For an SSA the practical reading is simple: in recent cycles, passing has meant promotion, because the passes never came near the vacancies.

20261197111378 (VH 3, HH 2, OH 1, others 2)

SC vacancies fell from 26 in the combined exam to 7 in LDCE-2026 while UR fell less sharply, from 136 to 119. The circulars give the figures without explaining the change, so we do not guess at the roster behind it. PwBD posts are counted inside the category totals, not added to them.

2025: a stay, a High Court order, and the exam four weeks late

11.11.2025EO 677 result (41 + 3 sealed cover) and EO 678 promotion order, both provisional and subject to the CAT order
16.06.2026EO 428: Paper II re-evaluation, one candidate +2 marks

DDA's circular names the stay and the High Court decision but not the grounds, and we found no public text of the CAT orders or the High Court decision. The promotions of November 2025 are expressly provisional, "subject to the outcome of the decision on representations and the order dt. 31.10.2025" of the CAT. If you were promoted in 2025, keep an eye on that case; if you are sitting LDCE-2026, the practical lesson is that dates can move at short notice, in either direction.

Where to find each document, and what it tells you

Everything in this guide comes from two list pages on dda.gov.in run by Personnel Branch-III: Examination Circulars and Examination Results. Circulars carry the notice, the vacancies, the training and the schedule. Results carry the marks orders and the result itself. The promotion order that follows a result has so far been an Establishment Order signed at the level of the Finance Member. Nothing about this exam is sent to a newspaper or an employment portal, so if you are on leave or on deputation, ask a colleague to watch those two pages or your branch E-office notice board.

Small errors on DDA's own pages

What you will seeWhat the document says
Circular 93/2025 listed as "dated 19.09.2025"The PDF is dated 09.10.2025; 19.09.2025 is the date of the CAT stay it reports
A June 2025 training circular numbered "34/2024"It is dated 05.06.2025; the year in the number is a typo
A results row "LDE for the post of SSA (UDC) - 26-11-2016"The file behind it is the Final Result of ASO, 26.11.2016
Circular 63 of 2019 titled "scheduled to be held on 06.01.2019"Issued 30.12.2019, it moved the written exam to 06.01.2020

None of these changes a fact about the exam, but they explain why searching DDA's lists by date can mislead. The eligibility guide covers what LDCE-2026 candidates should expect next.

How many vacancies are there in DDA ASO LDCE-2026?

137: UR 119, SC 7, ST 11, including 8 PwBD posts (VH 3, HH 2, OH 1, others 2).

How many passed the last DDA ASO LDCE?

In the combined LDCE-2022/23/24/25 held on 11-12.10.2025, EO 677 declared 41 successful and kept 3 results in a sealed cover, against 175 vacancies.

Why was the 2025 exam delayed?

The CAT stayed it on 19.09.2025; the High Court vacated the stay on 06.10.2025, and DDA held it on 11-12.10.2025. The grounds are not published.

Are the 2025 promotions final?

EO 677 and EO 678 say they are provisional and subject to the CAT order dated 31.10.2025 in OA 4124/2025 and MA 4636/2025.

When is the DDA ASO LDCE-2026 exam?

Not notified as of 30.09.2026. DDA says the date will come on a short notice.

How many passed in 2017 and 2019?

The 2017 exam declared 18 successful (3 with relaxation) against 77 vacancies. The 2018-cycle exam of September 2019 declared 2 successful against 103.

Where are the results of the July 2019 and 2020 cycles?

We found only marks lists, not result orders, on DDA's pages.

Was there a separate 2022 exam?

Training was held in early 2022, but we found no exam. The 2022 crucial date was included in the combined exam of October 2025.
