CSEET Passing Marks and Pass Percentage, 2023 to 2026

Checked 30 September 2026. Pass rule from the ICSI restructuring announcement (10.04.2026) and both ICSI FAQs; pass rates from ICSI result press releases (January 2023 to January 2026). ICSI had published no pass percentage for June 2026 by 30 September 2026; the figure shown is reported by Careers360. The October 2026 result is due 15 November 2026.

The restructured CSEET has one pass rule, and ICSI states it in the same words in its announcement and both FAQs: a candidate passes if they secure "in one sitting, a minimum of forty percent marks in each paper and fifty percent marks in the aggregate of all papers of CSEET", and "there is no provision for exemption or carry forward of marks". With four papers of 100 marks, that means at least 40 in every paper and at least 200 of 400 overall (our arithmetic). This guide works through what that means in practice, gives you a checker, and sets out every CSEET pass rate ICSI published from January 2023 to January 2026, plus the reported figure for the first centre-based sitting.

40
minimum in each of the four papers (40% of 100)
200
minimum aggregate out of 400 (50%)

The rule, piece by piece

ConditionICSI wordingIn marks (our arithmetic)
Each paper"a minimum of forty percent marks in each paper"40 out of 100 in each of the four papers
Aggregate"fifty percent marks in the aggregate of all papers"200 out of 400

Carry forward"no provision for exemption or carry forward of marks"A good paper in a failed sitting counts for nothing next time

Worked cases

The two conditions work together. The paper minimum stops you passing with one very weak paper; the aggregate stops you passing by scraping 40 everywhere. All of the following are our arithmetic on ICSI's rule.

CaseMarks (BC, FoA, EBE, BLM)TotalResult
A40, 40, 40, 80200Pass: every paper at 40 or more and exactly 200 in total
B39, 70, 70, 70249Fail: the total is well above 200, but Business Communication is under 40
C45, 45, 50, 55195Fail: every paper passes but the aggregate is 5 short of 200
D60, 40, 50, 50200Pass, with no margin anywhere
E50, 50, 50, 50200Pass: an even 50 everywhere is exactly the minimum

Two lessons from the table (our reading). First, a 40 in any paper puts pressure on the rest: the other three then need 160 between them, an average of 53.33. Second, a single paper under 40 fails the whole sitting even with 249 marks, and nothing from it is kept. Aim well above 40 in your weakest paper, not just in total.

CSEET pass checker

Enter your marks (or your target) in the four papers of one sitting. The checker applies ICSI's rule: at least 40 in every paper and at least 200 of 400 in total, in the same sitting.

Our arithmetic on ICSI's published rule. ICSI's result is the only verdict that counts, and marks cannot be carried from one sitting to another.

Pass percentage, session by session

ICSI announces each CSEET result in a press release that states the share of candidates "declared successful". These are the figures from every release we could find from January 2023 to January 2026, the last remote-proctored session. For the first centre-based sitting, June 2026, ICSI's documents give the result date (15 July 2026) but no pass percentage; the June 2026 figure below is reported by Careers360, not published by ICSI.

CSEET pass percentage by session
Jan 202367.73%
May 202362.37%
Nov 202362.44%
Jan 202455.81%

Nov 202476.24%
Jan 202572.58%
May 202575.08%
Jul 202573.01%
Nov 202578.4%
Jan 2026 (last remote)80.5%
Jun 2026 (first centre-based; reported, not ICSI)67.59% (reported)

Blue: ICSI press releases. Pale bar: reported by Careers360; ICSI had published no June 2026 figure by 30 September 2026. July 2023 and July 2024 are missing because we found no ICSI release with a pass percentage for them.

What the numbers say

Our reading of the series

  • Under the remote format the pass rate ranged from 55.81% (January 2024) to 80.5% (January 2026). Every one of the last six remote sittings, from November 2024 to January 2026, passed more than 72% of candidates.
  • The reported June 2026 figure, 67.59%, is about 13 points below the last remote sitting (our arithmetic: 80.5 minus 67.59 = 12.91). It is still higher than four of the remote sittings from 2023 and 2024.
  • One new-format sitting is not a trend. The October 2026 result, due 15 November 2026, will be the second data point.
  • The rule itself changed at the same time as the format, so a lower pass rate cannot be pinned on any one change (subjective papers, the accounting paper, or the 40% minimum).

Pass percentages are ICSI's except June 2026. Differences and ranges are our arithmetic.

Where other pages get this wrong

The June 2026 CSEET pass percentage has not been published by ICSI.

Commonly published instead: Pages quote a June 2026 figure as if it were official; figures of 67.59% and 68.45% both circulate.

We found no ICSI press release, notice or result document with a June 2026 pass percentage; ICSI's press-release list stops at April 2026. Careers360 reports 67.59%. We found no citable source for 68.45% (conflict C8), so we do not print it as a figure.

After the result

ICSI issues an e-marksheet only; no physical marksheet is sent. For the June 2026 sitting, the result was announced for Wednesday 15 July 2026 at 2 PM with subject-wise marks, and verification of marks (under Regulation 42(2)) was open from 16 July to 5 August 2026 through the SMASH portal at Rs 250 per subject, non-refundable. The announcement sets the general windows: 21 days from the result to apply for verification, 30 days for certified copies of answer books, and 30 days for ICSI to process a verification request.

Where other pages get this wrong

A CSEET pass is valid for one year, not four.

Commonly published instead: Some pages say a CSEET result stays valid for four years.

ICSI says the CSEET result "will only be valid for a period of One year from the date of declaration of result", and that passing students should register for the CS Executive Programme within that period. It is the CSEET registration, not the result, that lasts three years.

If you do not pass

Your CSEET registration is valid for three years from the month of registration, and ICSI says you may sit any session inside that period without registering again. You pay the Rs 1,500 exam fee again for each sitting. Because there is no carry forward, you sit all four papers again. The next sitting after October 2026 is February 2027; enrolment runs 16 November to 15 December 2026, with a late fee to 20 December.

ProSyllabus is an independent study site. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). Every rule below is quoted or summarised from ICSI documents, and ICSI decides every individual case.

What are the passing marks for CSEET?

At least 40% in each of the four papers and 50% in aggregate, in one sitting. With 100 marks per paper that is at least 40 in every paper and at least 200 out of 400.

Can I carry forward marks from a paper I passed?

No. ICSI says there is no provision for exemption or carry forward of marks in CSEET. If you fail, you sit all four papers again.

Is there a separate pass mark for Economics and Business Environment parts?

ICSI states no separate minimum for the parts. The 40% rule applies to each paper, so Part A and Part B of a paper count together.

What was the CSEET pass percentage in June 2026?

ICSI had not published one by 30 September 2026. Careers360 reports 67.59%.

What was the pass percentage in the last remote CSEET?

80.5% in the January 2026 session, per ICSI's result release of 20 January 2026.

When is the October 2026 CSEET result?

ICSI's cut-off dates flyer and student-services FAQ give 15 November. The CSEET FAQ says the last week of November and the restructuring announcement says latest by November.

How long is a CSEET pass valid?

One year from the date the result is declared. You must register for the CS Executive Programme within that year.

How do I get my marks rechecked?

Apply for verification of marks through the SMASH portal within 21 days of the result. For June 2026 the fee was Rs 250 per subject.
