These are the dates in IIBF’s own 2026-27 exam schedule, which places Accounting and Financial Management for Bankers on 28 November 2026 and the registration period for the December CAIIB cycle from 1 to 21 September 2026 across three fee slabs. Some coaching sites give 29 November for that paper and a 1 October closing date for registration, so check the candidate login on iibf.org.in before paying.
The November JAIIB papers and the December CAIIB papers are on IIBF’s published schedule and registration for both cycles has closed. What is left is the run-up to the first paper, and the rules of the examination decide how that time is best spent.
JAIIB’s four papers fall on 1, 22, 28 and 29 November 2026 and CAIIB’s five on 6, 12, 13, 20 and 27 December. That is three weeks between the first JAIIB paper and the second, then two on consecutive days. Because credit for a subject you have passed is retained until your time limit expires, it pays to aim each gap at the paper in front of you rather than revise all four evenly.
The 2026 Rules and Syllabus for both JAIIB and CAIIB state there will be no negative marking for wrong answers, and IIBF’s notice of 4 January 2023 deferred the negative marking rule rather than bringing it in. With about 100 questions in two hours and nothing deducted for a miss, a blank answer is a pure loss. Leave time at the end to mark every unanswered question.
Fifty out of 100 passes a subject outright. Failing that, at least 45 in every subject with an aggregate of 50 per cent across all subjects also passes. So a 46 can be carried by stronger papers, while a 44 cannot be rescued by any aggregate. Treat 45 as the floor you must clear in each paper and the aggregate as what saves a weak one.
Both courses give five attempts within a maximum period of three years, whichever is earlier. The calendar usually bites before the attempt count does: sitting one paper a cycle burns months without burning attempts. The first attempt costs Rs 4,000 for JAIIB and Rs 5,000 for CAIIB, and each of the second to fifth costs Rs 1,300 plus convenience charges and taxes.
CAIIB is four compulsory papers plus one elective chosen from Rural Banking, Human Resources Management, Information Technology and Digital Banking, Risk Management and Central Banking. The Rules and Syllabus says candidates have the choice to change their CAIIB elective subject in any attempt, so an elective that looked manageable on the form and did not survive the syllabus is not a sunk cost.
Five attempts, within a maximum period of three years, whichever comes first. The rule is the same for both courses. Credit for a subject you have already passed is retained until that time limit expires, so a passed paper does not have to be sat again inside the window.
No. The JAIIB and CAIIB Rules and Syllabus documents for 2026 both state there will be no negative marking for wrong answers, and IIBF’s notice of 4 January 2023 deferred the negative marking rule for the time being. Nothing is deducted for a wrong answer or for a question left blank.
Fifty out of 100 in the subject. Alternatively you pass if you score at least 45 marks in each subject together with an aggregate of 50 per cent across all subjects. Below 45 in any one subject there is no aggregate route, so 45 is the floor you have to clear in every paper.
Ordinary members of the Institute who have completed JAIIB or Part 1 of the Associate Examination and whose membership subscription is not in arrears. JAIIB itself is open only to ordinary members of the Institute who have passed the 12th standard examination in any discipline or its equivalent.
Yes. The CAIIB Rules and Syllabus 2026 states that candidates have the choice to change their CAIIB elective subject in any attempt. The five electives are Rural Banking, Human Resources Management, Information Technology and Digital Banking, Risk Management, and Central Banking, of which you sit one.
The first attempt is Rs 4,000 for JAIIB and Rs 5,000 for CAIIB. Each of the second to fifth attempts costs Rs 1,300. Convenience charges and taxes apply on top. IIBF’s exam schedule also carries later registration slabs priced at normal fees plus Rs 100 and plus Rs 200.
IIBF’s 2026-27 exam schedule places the four JAIIB papers on 1, 22, 28 and 29 November 2026, and the CAIIB papers on 6, 12, 13, 20 and 27 December 2026, with the elective sat on 27 December. Registration for both cycles is shown as closed on that schedule.
