Exam overview

NAV CANADA selects air traffic controllers through a staged process: a basic online application in its Workday recruiting system, a timed online assessment of about 30 minutes, an in-person test of about six hours, typically held at an area control centre, a half-day assessment centre with group and individual exercises and an interview, language testing where needed, and pre-employment conditions that include medical and licensing requirements, a security clearance and drug testing. Applicants must be 18 or older, hold a high school diploma or equivalency, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, meet the language requirements for the region, and be willing to relocate. NAV CANADA says experience in the aviation industry is not required and that it pays for training.
