Spread across the material the G-60 exam covers (the whole G-60 booklet). The G-60 booklet says the 53 minutes allow for reference material provided in the exam room. It also says people who pass the G-60 are not required to obtain the G-41 Certificate of Fitness but may pay an additional fee to obtain it.
Who needs the G-60
The FDNY G-60 study material says the use of oxygen with a flammable gas (including LPG or CNG) for any hot work must be done by a G-60 holder; for LPG/CNG torch work on torch-applied roof systems without oxygen it accepts a G-41, G-42 or G-60. No. Every question here is original, written by us from the FDNY's free G-60 study material. We do not claim to have FDNY exam questions.
How were the answers checked?
Every answer is tied to a line of the FDNY study material, and every question was then answered again, independently and without our answer key, with the study material to hand. A question went in only when those answers matched ours and nobody raised an objection to it.
Is this the current G-60 format?
It follows the G-60 exam as the FDNY's study material (revised January 2026 (contact and payment details)) describes it: 35 multiple-choice questions in 53 minutes, at least 70% to pass. Format last checked 23 October 2026. The FDNY asks candidates to check for the latest booklet before the exam, so look at it before your test day.
Is it official?
No. This is independent practice by ProSyllabus, not produced, endorsed or checked by the FDNY or the City of New York.
