Bank of England situational judgement test practice
After the application form, the Bank's first assessed stage is a situational judgement test: scenarios that reflect working life at the Bank. The Bank's guidance for the test says that for each scenario you choose which of the four options you would be most likely to do, and then which you would be least likely to do. There is no time limit. Practise those most likely and least likely choices in 10 sets mapped to the three Bank Behaviours, then an 18-scenario practice mock, with every option explained. Our sets and mock use a pace clock only to keep you moving.

Two questions per scenario, every option explained
Because the Bank asks for your most likely and your least likely response, each scenario here is two questions over the same four options. After you answer, the explanation covers all four options: why our reviewers chose the most likely and least likely responses, and what falls short in the other two. Each scenario ends with a one-line lesson.
Mapped to the Bank Behaviours
The Bank says the test helps it understand how closely you align with its values, and its Bank Behaviours describe how it does things. Each block of sets practises one of them; Set 10 and the mock mix all three. In the Bank's words:
“In acting inclusively, you will earn trust and gain the confidence of others through consistent honesty, integrity, and authenticity. By embracing differences in perspectives and cultures within the Bank, we can inspire colleagues to do their best.”
“We encourage colleagues to: have the courage to overcome fear and to do what is right; to demonstrate self-awareness through reflection and feedback, thus gaining insight into their own strengths and areas for development; and help colleagues of all backgrounds to meet their career goals and the Bank's objectives.”
“To deliver outcomes, we focus on what matters most. We start by developing a vision, exploring future scenarios and possibilities, responding to change, and setting strategies to serve the Bank’s purpose. We work together to meet these commitments individually and collectively.”
What you get
- 10 sets of 6 scenarios: three on Act inclusively, three on Drive growth, three on Deliver outcomes and one mixing all three, each with a 12-minute pace clock.
- An 18-scenario practice mock, all new scenarios, on a 30-minute pace clock. The real test has no time limit; the Bank's guidance suggests a relatively fast pace, so the clock is there to keep you moving, not to rush you.
- All four options explained for every scenario, plus a one-line lesson you can carry into the next one.
- Your score by Behaviour after each set, with the time you spent on each question, so you know which Behaviour to work on.
- 78 original practice scenarios. All are made up; none is a Bank of England test item.
Before you buy
What do I get?
78 original scenarios: 10 sets of 6 and an 18-scenario practice mock, each scenario asked as most likely and least likely. Try 4 free sample questions before buying.
Are these real Bank of England questions?
No. Every scenario is original. The format follows the Bank's own published guidance for its situational judgement test, and the values come from the Bank Behaviours on its careers pages.
Is the real test timed?
The Bank's guidance says there is no time limit, that you must answer every question, and that it is better to work at a relatively fast pace. Our sets and mock use a pace clock only to build that habit.
Is a practice score a prediction?
No. The Bank's published guidance does not describe a scoring method or a pass mark. Your practice score compares your choices with our reviewers' answers, by Bank Behaviour, so you can see where to think again.
When is the next recruitment round?
The Bank closed its 2026 round and says it will update its programme pages in autumn 2026, ahead of the 2027 round. Check the Future Talent page and how to apply for dates.
How do I pay and get access?
One payment by card (or PayPal where offered), handled by our payment provider. In the UK the price is charged in pounds; in other countries in your own currency where we support it, otherwise in Indian rupees with the local figure shown as an estimate. Access opens on this device straight after payment. Sign in afterwards to keep it on your account. Purchase policy.
