The two September rows are taken from the official Kakatiya-hosted CPGET admissions portal and are the only dates here that still require action. The earlier rows, from notification through answer key, are reported by AglaSem rather than read on an official page, and the exam date is given there only as a week rather than a calendar date.

The commonest mistake with this exam is a naming one. Candidates search for a Kakatiya University PGCET, expecting a test set and marked by Kakatiya for its own departments. In the 2026 cycle that is not what exists. Kakatiya is the host and convening university for the Telangana state test, and a seat in a Kakatiya PG department is won through state-level ranking and centralised web counselling.

Because Kakatiya convenes TG CPGET on behalf of the state council, some candidates assume Kakatiya applicants are processed separately or favourably. The test covers admission subjects across eight Telangana universities on one rank list, and seats are allotted through centralised web options. Local-area reservation rules, set out in the government orders linked from the admissions portal, decide regional entitlement, not the identity of the convening university. Practically, that means your web options list has to be built the way any state counselling list is built: university and course combinations ranked by genuine preference, with enough spread that a mid-range rank still lands somewhere. Treating Kakatiya as a safe default because it runs the portal is the error to avoid.

September 23 is the deadline that actually bites

The portal has extended Phase I tuition fee payment and self-reporting to September 23, 2026. Extensions like this are routinely misread as a general softening of the schedule. They are not. An allotted candidate who has not paid and self-reported by that date loses the seat, and the seat is then added to the Phase II vacancy pool that other candidates are registering for between September 22 and 26. If you hold a Phase I allotment you are working to a one-day horizon; if you are hoping for a Phase II seat, the seats released by non-reporting candidates on September 23 are precisely the ones you are competing for two days later.

Phase II registration is a full re-entry, not a top-up

The portal describes the Phase II sequence as register, pay processing fees, upload and verify certificates, choose course preferences, and report against the allotment result. That is the whole counselling cycle compressed into five days, September 22 to 26. Certificate upload and verification is where candidates lose time, because a document rejected late in the window may leave no room to re-upload. Scan and check caste, income, local-area and qualifying-degree documents before opening the registration form rather than during it. Candidates claiming NCC, CAP or PwD priority had to attend physical verification on September 8, 9 or 10 and cannot add the claim now.

As reported by AglaSem, the test is a computer-based paper of 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes. That is under a minute a question, across a subject-specific syllabus. A paper built that way pays for breadth and recall speed rather than for long derivations or extended argument. In revision terms, the return on working through the full subject outline once more is higher than the return on mastering two or three favourite topics. Verify the pattern against the official information brochure linked from the admissions portal before planning around it, because this figure is from an aggregator and not from the conducting body's own document.

M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. run on a separate clock

The admissions portal states plainly that a separate notification will deal with M.Ed. and M.P.Ed. Candidates for those two courses should not assume the September 22 to 26 Phase II window applies to them, and should not treat silence on the main schedule as evidence that admissions have closed. The practical step is to keep checking the notifications section of the same portal rather than the general counselling schedule, and to have documents ready in advance, because separately notified rounds for professional courses typically run on short windows once announced.

This guide walks through the 2026-27 process and the dates of both recent cycles.</p>

<p style="margin:0 0 16px;line-height:1.7">At registration you choose how your documents are checked. <strong>E-Scrutiny</strong> means the uploaded scans are verified online and you never visit a centre — convenient, but any unclear or missing scan comes back to you as a query that must be answered in the window. <strong>Physical scrutiny</strong> means taking originals to a facilitation centre. Whichever you choose, the rule on category certificates is the same: without the originals or valid receipts at verification you are counted as General. Upload clear, complete scans the first time.</p>

Freeze, betterment and the rule that ends your CAP

<p style="margin:0 0 16px;line-height:1.7">Every allotment in Rounds I–III either <strong>auto-freezes</strong> or leaves you a choice. In <strong>Round I</strong>, being allotted your <strong>first</strong> preference freezes it; in <strong>Round II</strong>, any of your first <strong>three</strong>; in <strong>Round III</strong>, any of your first <strong>six</strong>. A frozen seat takes you out of later rounds — you must report to the institute. Otherwise you may <strong>self-freeze</strong> or accept with <strong>Not Freeze / Betterment</strong> and stay in the next round for something higher on your list. Round IV allotment is final. The practical lesson: <strong>put first only a college you would actually join</strong>, because in Round I it will not let you go.</p>

Money: acceptance fee, cancellation and refunds

<p style="margin:0 0 16px;line-height:1.7">Reserved-category candidates must show original Caste or Tribe Validity certificates, and a Non-Creamy Layer certificate valid up to 31 March of the following year; without them — or valid receipts — they are counted as General. EWS needs the state-format certificate. Receipt-holders must produce the certificate at a scrutiny centre and give it to the institute by the last reporting date of Round IV, or the admission is cancelled and they are treated as Open at the institute stage. Get these certificates started in the spring: a caste validity certificate can take weeks.</p>

The institute-level option form opens during CAP (from 4 August in 2026), so fill it in your login while the rounds are still running, and keep in touch with the institutes you listed.</p>
