Checked 29 September 2026. Fees from the Indian Testing Board's pages and from its Townscript tickets as read early on 29 September 2026. By that evening every ITB ticket link on Townscript said "Bookings are closed. Townscript services have been discontinued.", and ITB's pages still linked to them. Confirm the fee and the way to pay with ITB before paying.
The Indian Testing Board (ITB) is ISTQB's member board for India, but it is not the only way to sit an ISTQB exam from India (the US exam provider AT*SQA also sells ISTQB vouchers to candidates in India, in US dollars, see below). For the new CT-AI v2.0 exam, ITB's payment ticket — "ISTQB AI 2.0 Testing Exam Fees", on sale from 11 August 2026 — charged ₹7,000 plus 18% GST, which is ₹8,260, when we read it early on 29 September 2026. By that evening the ticket could no longer be bought: its Townscript page, like every ITB ticket link there, said "Bookings are closed. Townscript services have been discontinued." ITB's own remote-proctored page still pointed to those links, and named no other way to pay. Until it does, email ITB at rpexams@indiantestingboard.com (or info@indiantestingboard.com, on its contact page) and ask how to pay, rather than paying anyone else. But ITB's own fee table for Specialist exams still shows ₹6,300 (₹7,434 with GST) for a first attempt. Both figures are on ITB's site on the same day, so we print both and tell you which one the checkout uses. We also cover how ITB books the exam (CT-AI appears on ITB's from-home remote-proctored page; ITB's Pearson VUE route is Foundation-only), what the retake costs, and what you pay in total if you do not yet hold CTFL.
ITB Townscript tickets (read early 29 Sep 2026, before bookings closed) and ITB Specialist remote-proctored page, 29 Sep 2026. GST totals are our arithmetic.
Where other pages get this wrong
ITB's CT-AI v2.0 fee was ₹7,000 + GST on the payment ticket it linked, not the ₹6,300 in its fee table.
Commonly published instead: ITB's own Specialist fee table: "Specialist 1st Time RP Public 6300 / 7434", on the page that links to the AI 2.0 ticket.
The ticket is what is charged for "ISTQB AI Tester 2.0 Remote Proctor Exam"; the generic table appears to predate it, and ₹6,300 is exactly the price of ITB's older v1.0 AI ticket. Budget ₹8,260 for v2.0. That ticket stopped taking bookings on 29 September 2026, so ITB may quote afresh; if ITB tells you otherwise, ITB is the authority.
ITB fees for CT-AI and the exams around it
| Exam and route | Fee (₹) | With 18% GST (₹) | Where ITB states it |
|---|---|---|---|
| CT-AI v2.0 ("AI 2.0"), public, from home | 7,000 | 8,260 | ITB Townscript ticket |
| CT-AI (v1.0 ticket), public, from home | 6,300 | 7,434 | ITB Townscript ticket; also ITB fee table |
| AI Testing reappearing (retake) | 4,000 | 4,720 | ITB Townscript ticket; ITB fee table |
| Specialist 1st time, from home, corporate | 6,000 | 7,080 | ITB fee table |
| Specialist 2nd time, from home, corporate | 4,000 | 4,720 | ITB fee table |
| CT-GenAI, public | 7,000 | 8,260 | ITB Townscript ticket |
| CT-GenAI reappearing | 4,000 | 4,720 | ITB Townscript ticket |
| CTFL at a Pearson VUE centre, 1st time | 4,800 | 5,664 | ITB Pearson VUE page |
| CTFL at a Pearson VUE centre, 2nd time | 3,500 | 4,130 | ITB Pearson VUE page |
| CTFL from home, 1st time | 5,800 | 6,844 | ITB remote-proctored page |
| CTFL from home, 1st time | 6,300 | 7,434 | ITB Pearson VUE page |
ITB pages and ITB's Townscript tickets, read early on 29 Sep 2026; by that evening the tickets showed bookings closed, so the ticket figures are the last ones ITB charged, not a live checkout. The GST column matches ITB's own "With GST" figures where it prints them; where only a ticket price is given (v2.0 and CT-GenAI), we added 18% ourselves, the tax the ticket applies.
From the table above. The from-home CTFL bar is drawn at the higher figure; ITB's two pages disagree.
Where ITB's own figures disagree
| Item | One ITB figure | Other ITB figure | What we suggest |
|---|---|---|---|
| CT-AI v2.0, first attempt | ₹7,000 + GST = ₹8,260 (AI 2.0 ticket) | ₹6,300 / ₹7,434 (Specialist fee table) | Budget ₹8,260; the ticket is what you pay |
| CT-AI v2.0 retake | No "AI 2.0 reappearing" ticket listed | "AI Testing Reappearing" ₹4,000 + GST | Ask ITB before paying for a v2.0 retake |
| CTFL from home, first attempt | ₹5,800 / ₹6,844 (remote-proctored page) | ₹6,300 / ₹7,434 (Pearson VUE page) | Unresolved; the centre fee ₹4,800 / ₹5,664 is unambiguous |
| CTFL from home, second attempt | ₹4,000 / ₹4,720 (remote-proctored page) | ₹5,000 / ₹5,900 (Pearson VUE page) | Unresolved |
| v1.0 ticket availability | Townscript ticket was listed until 31 Mar 2027; on 29 Sep 2026 it showed bookings closed | ISTQB English v1.0 sunset 21 Apr 2027 | Ask ITB how to pay for v1.0 now, and leave room for a retake before 21 April |
All figures read from ITB pages and tickets on 29 September 2026 (the tickets early that day, before Townscript closed bookings).
How the from-home exam is booked with ITB
| Step | What you do | Detail from ITB |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Check you meet ITB's Candidate Criteria Checklist (computer, webcam, connection) before paying | Linked from the remote-proctored page |
| 2 | Pay ITB. Its page links "ISTQB AI Tester 2.0 Remote Proctor Exam" to a Townscript ticket, which on 29 Sep 2026 said "Bookings are closed. Townscript services have been discontinued." Email rpexams@indiantestingboard.com for the current way to pay | The ticket charged ₹7,000 + 18% GST; "cannot be cancelled or transferred for other exams" |
| 3 | Email rpexams@indiantestingboard.com with your payment reference ID and the completed Candidate Criteria Sheet | Give 2 date and time preferences |
| 4 | Choose dates at least 3 days after payment, Monday to Friday | Slots 9:00-11:00, 11:00-1:00, 2:00-4:00, 4:00-6:00 |
| 5 | Wait for ITB's confirmation of date and time | Within 48 hours |
| 6 | Receive the "Start Exam" link | 1 day before the exam |
| 7 | Sit the exam from home | 40 questions, 60 minutes |
| 8 | Result by email | "Result will be declared by next day" |
Indian Testing Board, Specialist "Remote proctored exam (take exam from home)" page, 29 September 2026; the Townscript page it links, checked the evening of 29 September 2026. Steps 3 to 8 are ITB's process after payment, unchanged on its page. ITB's ticket terms still contain a 2020 line ("used by 20th October 2020"), which looks like old boilerplate; ask ITB if anything in the terms matters to you.
Why from home? ITB's Pearson VUE page says "Only Foundation Level Exam can be taken through Pearson Vue Platform currently", and the "ISTQB AI Tester 2.0" payment link sits on ITB's Specialist remote-proctored page. ITB's older Specialist procedure page still describes public exams at a scheduled exam centre, with a public fee of ₹6,300 (₹7,434), so a centre sitting is not ruled out; ask ITB if you prefer one. Companies can arrange group exams: ITB's procedure page says groups of 10 or more can sit at company premises, and its fee table has a corporate first-attempt fee of ₹6,000 (₹7,080 with GST). Other ISTQB member boards and exam providers set their own prices; AT*SQA, for one, sells vouchers to candidates in India for online proctoring or an authorised test centre in India.
Total cost if you still need CTFL
CT-AI requires the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate; ISTQB calls it "the entry requirement". If you do not hold it, add the Foundation exam: 40 questions, 40 points, pass mark 26, 60 minutes (v4.0). At a Pearson VUE centre through ITB it costs ₹4,800 + GST.
| Route (no training) | Calculation | Total with GST (ours) |
|---|---|---|
| Already hold CTFL: CT-AI v2.0 only | ₹8,260 | ₹8,260 |
| CTFL at a centre + CT-AI v2.0 | ₹5,664 + ₹8,260 | ₹13,924 |
| CTFL from home (remote-proctored page) + CT-AI v2.0 | ₹6,844 + ₹8,260 | ₹15,104 |
| CTFL from home (Pearson VUE page) + CT-AI v2.0 | ₹7,434 + ₹8,260 | ₹15,694 |
| Hold CTFL: CT-AI v2.0 + one retake | ₹8,260 + ₹4,720 | ₹12,980 |
Our arithmetic on ITB's published figures. Training courses are extra and are priced by each accredited training provider; ISTQB highly recommends accredited training but does not require it.
What CT-AI will cost you through the Indian Testing Board
Choose whether you still need Foundation (CTFL), which CT-AI fee to budget for, and how many retakes to allow for. Fees are ITB's published figures plus 18% GST. Training is not included.
Our arithmetic on ITB's figures (29 Sep 2026). Retakes use ITB's "AI Testing Reappearing" ticket at ₹4,000 + GST; ITB lists no separate v2.0 reappearing ticket. CTFL second attempts: ₹3,500 + GST at a centre; from home ₹4,000 + GST on ITB's remote-proctored page or ₹5,000 + GST on its Pearson VUE page (the calculator pairs each retake with the first-attempt page you chose). ITB tickets are non-cancellable and non-transferable.
What CT-AI costs outside India
| Provider | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| AT*SQA (US exam provider; ASTQB, the US member board, registers candidates through it) | US$199 | "AI Testing" on its pricing FAQ and its India registration page; CT-GenAI also US$199; CTFL US$229 |
| AT*SQA, India registration page | US$199 | Says candidates in India can buy a voucher and sit by online proctoring or at an authorised test centre in India; no version named on the page |
| iSQI | About US$216 when we read it (29 Sep 2026) | Page defaulted to Germany ("only valid for exams in Germany"); the displayed price changes with country and exchange rate; optional retake insurance about a quarter extra |
| Brightest | On request | The CT-AI certification and course pages we read on 29 Sep 2026 still described v1.0 |
Each provider's own page, 29 September 2026. We do not convert these to rupees: rates move. A dollar voucher from AT*SQA is a genuine alternative to ITB for a candidate in India; compare it at your bank's rate on the day, and check the provider says which CT-AI version the voucher is for. A search result for iSQI showed a different dollar price for another country, which is why a single iSQI price cannot be quoted.
After the exam
Results, certificates and verification
- Result: ITB says the from-home result is "declared by next day", by individual email with your score.
- Certificate: ITB's procedure page says certificates come "in 2 months of the exam date" and names appear on ITB's site in 3 months (stated for Foundation; ITB gives no separate Specialist timeline).
- Verification: ISTQB keeps a Successful Candidate Register (scr.istqb.org) for employers to check certificates.
- Validity: ISTQB Foundation, Specialist and Advanced certificates are valid for life. No renewal fee.
- Demand signal, not a statistic: ITB's "AI Certified Tester" list names 481 people with exam dates from March 2023 to December 2024, and has not been updated since. The v2.0 ticket page displayed 975 of 1,000 remaining early on 29 September 2026, before Townscript closed bookings; Townscript did not say what that counter measured, so we do not read it as a sales count. Neither is a pass rate or an official candidate count.
ITB remote-proctored and procedure pages; ISTQB certificates FAQ; ITB register and Townscript counters, 29 Sep 2026 (our counts).
| Signal (29 Sep 2026) | Figure | Caveat |
|---|---|---|
| ITB "AI Certified Tester" register | 481 names, exam dates Mar 2023 to Dec 2024 | Not updated after Dec 2024; names not reproduced |
| ITB v1.0 AI ticket | 550 of 1,000 left since 16 Jan 2023 | Counter meaning not documented |
| ITB AI 2.0 ticket | 975 of 1,000 left since 11 Aug 2026 | Counter meaning not documented |
| ITB CT-GenAI ticket | 761 of 1,000 left since 8 Dec 2025 | Counter meaning not documented |
| ISTQB CT-AI v2.0 syllabus downloads | About 22,200 when we read it | Worldwide download counter on ISTQB's page; it rises continuously |
Counts are ours, read from the pages on 29 September 2026 (the Townscript counters early that day; the pages now show only "Bookings are closed"). ISTQB publishes no CT-AI pass rate or candidate numbers.
Practise it, don't just read it
Paid ₹8,260 for one attempt? Check yourself chapter by chapter before you book the slot.
The ProSyllabus CT-AI library has 10 quizzes of 10 questions written on the v2.0 syllabus and covering all seven chapters: Introduction to AI (two quizzes), quality characteristics, machine learning (two: forms and workflow; metrics, neural networks and coverage), testing AI-based systems (two: test oracles and test levels; generative AI and red teaming), input data testing, and model testing plus ML development testing (two). They are our own questions, not ISTQB exam items, and they are single-answer only, while ISTQB's official Sample Exam A v2.2 also includes two select-two questions, so practise that format there.
What is the ISTQB CT-AI exam fee in India?
Through the Indian Testing Board, the CT-AI v2.0 ticket charged Rs 7,000 plus 18% GST, Rs 8,260 in total, when we read it early on 29 September 2026; by that evening the Townscript ticket showed bookings closed, so confirm the fee with ITB. ITB's Specialist fee table still shows Rs 6,300 (Rs 7,434 with GST), which is also the price of its older v1.0 ticket.
How much is a CT-AI retake in India?
ITB's AI Testing reappearing ticket was Rs 4,000 plus GST, Rs 4,720 (read 29 September 2026, before Townscript closed bookings), and its fee table gives the same figure. ITB lists no separate v2.0 reappearing ticket, so confirm with ITB before paying for a v2.0 retake.
Can I take CT-AI at a test centre in India?
Not through ITB's Pearson VUE route, which its page says is Foundation-only; ITB sells CT-AI v2.0 as a from-home remote-proctored exam, though its older Specialist procedure page still mentions exam centres, so ask ITB. AT*SQA says its vouchers can be used at authorised test centres in India.
How do I book the CT-AI exam with ITB?
ITB's AI Tester 2.0 payment link goes to Townscript, which on 29 September 2026 said "Bookings are closed. Townscript services have been discontinued." So first email rpexams@indiantestingboard.com and ask how to pay. After paying, email rpexams@indiantestingboard.com with the reference ID and the completed Candidate Criteria Sheet, giving two date and time preferences at least 3 days after payment, Monday to Friday. ITB confirms within 48 hours.
Can I still pay ITB for CT-AI on Townscript?
No, not as of 29 September 2026. That evening every ITB ticket link on Townscript said "Bookings are closed. Townscript services have been discontinued.", although ITB's own pages still linked to them. Email rpexams@indiantestingboard.com or info@indiantestingboard.com (ITB's contact page) for the current way to pay.
When will I get my CT-AI result?
ITB says remote-proctored results are declared by the next day, by email with your score.
Do I need CTFL before CT-AI?
Yes. ISTQB says Foundation Level remains the entry requirement. Through ITB, CTFL costs Rs 4,800 plus GST at a Pearson VUE centre.
What does CT-AI cost in total without CTFL?
Our arithmetic on ITB fees: CTFL at a centre Rs 5,664 plus CT-AI v2.0 Rs 8,260 is Rs 13,924, before any training.
Is the ITB exam fee refundable?
ITB's ticket terms say a ticket once purchased cannot be cancelled or transferred for other exams.
How much is CT-AI through AT*SQA?
US$199. ASTQB, the US member board, registers candidates through AT*SQA, and AT*SQA's India page says candidates in India can buy the same vouchers.
Does the CT-AI certificate expire?
No. ISTQB Specialist certificates are valid for life.
