Checked 29 September 2026. GMAC sets fees in US$ and can change them; these are from mba.com with India selected on 29 Sep 2026. Rupee figures are ours at US$1 = Rs 95.98, the ECB reference rate on 28 Sep 2026 (via api.frankfurter.dev) and move daily.
GMAC charges for the GMAT in US dollars, and with India selected on mba.com the schedule is the same as for the United States and the UAE: US$275 at a test centre, US$300 online. What most fee pages leave out is how quickly the cost of changing your mind rises. Moving a test-centre slot 14 days or less before the date costs US$165, 60% of the exam fee; cancelling at that point returns only US$55; and within 24 hours you cannot reschedule or cancel at all, so if you do not attend you forfeit the full fee. This guide gives every exam, reschedule, cancellation and score-report figure on GMAC's India schedule, our rupee conversion with its date, the unresolved question of GST, and a calculator for your own plan.

Also on the payment page and in GMAC's policy document: an appointment cannot be rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours of the slot, and a candidate who does not show up forfeits the full fee; changes by phone are offered only for test-centre appointments and cost an additional US$10 (online bookings are changed online); accepted cards are Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover; and a declined card cancels the appointment automatically. Does an Indian candidate pay 18% GST on top?
- Official: the mba.com payment page with India selected shows US$275 and US$300 and no tax line or rupee figure. GMAC's help centre says fees "may vary by country, currency, and exam delivery format", and the payment page says locations have "specific pricing, local taxes, and regulations".
- Reported: EEC Global states the India fee is US$324.50 at a centre and US$354 online, "the global base fees ($275 / $300) plus 18% GST processed at checkout".
- Reported: Career Launcher quotes US$275 as about Rs 22,000 and Rs 23,097 "as of 2024", with no tax line.
GMAC's page does not say GST is not charged; it simply shows none, so this is an unconfirmed third-party claim rather than two sources contradicting each other. We could not see a checkout total. If GST does apply to the exam fee as EEC reports, the arithmetic is: US$275 plus 18% = US$324.50 (₹31,146 at our rate), US$300 plus 18% = US$354 (₹33,977). The calculator below has a switch for it, off by default, applied to exam registrations only.
What a change of plan costs, by timing
The same schedule, read as money you lose. A reschedule keeps your booking and costs the fee shown; a cancellation returns the refund shown and loses the rest. The loss columns are our subtraction.
| When you act | Reschedule, centre | Cancel, centre: you lose (ours) | Reschedule, online | Cancel, online: you lose (ours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| More than 60 days before the slot | US$55 | US$165 | US$60 | US$180 |
| 15 to 60 days before the slot | US$110 | US$195 | US$120 | US$210 |
| 14 days or less (but more than 24 hours) before the slot | US$165 | US$220 | US$180 | US$240 |
| Within 24 hours of the slot | Not allowed | Not allowed; a no-show loses US$275 | Not allowed | Not allowed; a no-show loses US$300 |
Our arithmetic on the mba.com schedule. For the online format the shares are the same: 60, 120 and 180 of 300.
The pattern suggests a simple rule of our own: decide more than 60 days out whenever you can. A reschedule then costs US$55, and cancelling still returns US$110 of US$275. Inside the last two weeks, rescheduling (US$165) and cancelling (lose US$220) are both expensive, and a failed ID check or a missed slot costs the full fee, since GMAC forfeits the fee when you are refused entry for ID.

| Two test-centre attempts | US$550 | ₹52,789 |
| One online attempt, then a test-centre re-sit (ISB PGP and the IIMA, IIMB, IIMC and IIML one-year MBAs refuse the online score) | US$575 | ₹55,189 |
| Two test-centre attempts, one reschedule 15-60 days out, 3 extra score reports | US$765 | ₹73,425 |
| Three test-centre attempts | US$825 | ₹79,184 |
| Five test-centre attempts in 12 months (the maximum) | US$1,375 | ₹1,31,973 |
Score reports: when they are free and when they are not
After each sitting you may send your official score to up to five programmes free, within 48 hours of the score becoming available in your account. After that window each Additional Score Report costs US$35. Since the GMAT Superscore launched on 12 August 2026, a Superscore travels automatically with any single-attempt score you send; candidates who tested before launch and became eligible retroactively were emailed a voucher for five free updated sends, valid only for a limited time (the expiry date and terms are in GMAC's email). Scores stay valid for five years and can be reported for up to ten; sending a score that is five to ten years old is possible "for a fee" (GMAC does not print the amount on the pages we read), only if you have not tested in the last five years, and it carries a caution notice to the school.
Fee waivers, other people's cards and the call centre
What GMAC says, briefly
- GMAC does not give fee waivers to test takers. Its programme runs through institutions that accept the GMAT; ask the school, and note GMAC does not publish the list of participating schools.
- You may pay with someone else's card (a parent, employer or sponsor) with the cardholder's permission.
- The statement descriptor is VUE*GRAD MGMT TEST for a test centre and TALVIEW.INC for the online exam, so check for either before disputing a charge.
- You cannot switch a booking between test centre and online; you cancel (refund schedule applies) and book again.
- A voucher or waiver does not guarantee an appointment slot.

ProSyllabus has no GMAT practice quizzes yet, so this guide does not point you to any. GMAC's own free Official Starter Kit on mba.com includes two full-length practice exams scored the same way as the real test.
ProSyllabus is an independent study site, not part of GMAC or of any school named here. Every rule is quoted or summarised from GMAC (mba.com, gmac.com, support.mba.com) and the schools' own admission pages; they decide every individual case.
