This calendar is common to every subject and post in Recruitment Notification 01/2025, run jointly by KVS and NVS through CBSE, so Physical Education shares its application, Tier-1 and Tier-2 dates with TGT Mathematics, Hindi, Music and the rest. The male and female lines were examined together on 28 March. CBSE did not name Physical Education in the Tier-2 result press notes seen, so the candidate login is the authority on the result. The application window closed in three stages: 4 December 2025 as notified, extended to 11 December 2025 by the CBSE notice of 5 December, and reopened until 15 December 2025 by the CBSE notice of 13 December for candidates whom the KVS/NVS qualification mismatch had blocked, after Corrigendum-2 aligned the two sets of qualifications.

What this means for your preparation

Physical Education candidates routinely expect a ground test, a fitness assessment or a games trial somewhere in this recruitment. There is none in the published scheme. Selection is a screening OMR paper that contains no physical education at all, then a 100-mark written subject paper on 28 March, then an interview, with merit computed as 85 per cent Tier-2 and 15 per cent interview. A national-level playing record counts for nothing unless the theory paper is written well.

Two posts, not one: read the right column

NVS advertised TGT Physical Education (Male) at 124 posts and TGT Physical Education (Female) at 128, and they are separate lines with separate category breakdowns. A male candidate competes against 52 unreserved slots, a female candidate against 54; OBC is twelve in both, SC 33 and 34, ST 18 and 19, EWS nine in both. The subject paper is science, not sport

That is a B.P.Ed theory paper. Anatomy and exercise physiology reward precise recall of systems, energy pathways and training principles; the health and disease component is closer to public health than to coaching. Candidates who prepare from rulebooks and officiating manuals find most of the paper out of reach.

Forty descriptive marks on a theory subject

Ten descriptive questions carry 40 of the 100 Tier-2 marks, against 60 objective marks penalised at 0.25 for a wrong answer. At four marks apiece the descriptive items suit structured answers: a definition, a mechanism or principle, and an applied example from a school setting. Physical education graduates often write these as loose narrative and lose method marks. There is no penalty on the descriptive half, so nothing should be left blank even where recall is partial. Budget roughly an hour of the two and a half for this section, and practise writing labelled, sectioned answers rather than continuous prose.

A residential school post with duties beyond the timetable

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools up to senior secondary level, and the notification requires teachers to stay on the Vidyalaya campus, with rent-free accommodation as available. For physical education this is the defining feature of the job. A boarding school runs morning physical training, evening games, house competitions and weekend activity for children who live on site year-round, and the PE teacher is central to all of it as well as to pastoral supervision of a hostel-based cohort. The interview, at 15 per cent of merit, tends to explore this directly, and candidates who answer only about lesson planning underuse the ground they know best.

All-India liability is absolute in the wording

The notification states that selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India on initial posting and that requests for a change of station or region will not be entertained under any circumstances whatsoever. For a residential-school post this matters more than for a day school, because the appointment carries an obligation to live where posted. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency to teach in Hindi and English, since JNVs operate across states with different regional languages. Applicants recorded a preference between KVS and NVS through the portal, but that preference governs the body, not the region or the Vidyalaya.
